Frame of reference means a lot. I remember when my Priest gave me a book to read that was written by a former member of our parish whose is now an Orthodox priest, I got to the chapter on Theosis and read the quote by St. Athanasius "God became man so that man might become god". I was like Whoah!!!!. But a short 15 minute teaching from Father cleared everything up. The only way can ever hope to understand the Church is from inside the Church. Even then I am a bear of little brain.
