Hell, the entire show used to stress me out as a kid. I was little and wondered how these big kids knew the answers to all these things...my heart used to pound whenever the danger music started up.

I swear that music's only one away from "Sonic drowning" music in terms of stress inducement.

You can imagine how terrible a modern day Knightmare would be - they wouldn't allow the kids to wear a helmet, every parent would be worried that Treguard was a paedo, the whole thing would be boring CGI rather than the brilliantly ahead of its time Chromakey, there would be none of the tense music and great life force sequences and the kids would be texting each other the instructions!

Call me biased [I'm 26] but I and many older people share the opinion that early 90s kids' TV was the best

The lifeforce was a dumb flaw. So the COLOR represents it. The animation is just dumb flavor filler. Just replace it with a damn life BAR. Like one in final fight. It slowly depletes with time as the "force" but once gone the player loses. Simple and easy to see.

No doubt that the earlier series had much scarier scenes. I'd argue it was all part of the suspense and enjoyment.

Not wanting to see the skull fragment and fly away, not wanting to hear the dreaded bells...

Nowadays they'd argue that children shouldn't be subjected to that sort of stuff so young - apparently they're better off with the Hoobs and Poko-yo...

Who knows how tomorrow's society will turn out, and why should we care? It's only a game.... isn't it? ;)

Totally. More people seemed to complete it in the later series. People had a better feeling for what was coming. It was just wickedly hard - a bit like the video game. Really good walkthrough of that on here. Never got out of level 2 on it. Going to get an emulator for my Mac to have another go. Quality video.

tv channel "challenge" had the rights to show the repeats, but they expired in 2007. as far as i know they are trying to remake it called "knightmare vr" which was crossed between vr and the original format, but i think they only made the pilot as no tv channel was interested, that was in 2005, there has been some talk of a 21st anniversary special, there is a web site "knightmare" (dotcom) have a look lots of news and info.

That death from Ariadne was one of the most unfair on Knightmare, if you saw what lead up to it. Used a spell to rescue a character, got nothing in return except to be told to use a different one that they had been given no realistic chance to collect.

I love it... it really shows much of that sinister (for a kids' show in any case) side of Knightmare that made it special.

The last death you included is certainly the most memorable for me... there's something deliciously dominating about Morgana casually deleting a dungeoneer only moments from completing his quest.
