@psycofoxxx thats one way of looking at it, and some people would say its the best way. but you can also see it as d dorian-eb dorian-d dorian- eb dorian or phrygian on each chord or natural minor, or any mode that starts on a minor 7, you could even do A phrygian- c dorian- d minor- f phrygian.
i (think) i figured out a trick to the key change thing. what seems to work is to play the aeolian mode on whatever note (for minor that is) the key is in. like if it's in Am7 i would play the aeolian mode start on the fifth fret of the E string. i could be wrong considering im very new to key changes (this is my first attempt at playing a backing track with key changes in it.) anyways, this track is the bomb. thanks for posting :)
@GoodMetalFTW changing keys aint that hard to do, its just movin to another key, like playin another track for example, the difficult thing is how you move from one key to the other, what tricks you use
of course, but you have to memorize when the key changes occur and that's the tricky part. a trick i use is that if it's in the key of something minor (take c minor for example) i play the c note on the e string and play the aeolian mode from there. after that the whole fingerboard is open to all the other modes because i know where they are from starting on the aeolian mode.
@GoodMetalFTW nah, you know what you should do, take the dorian mode of the key youre in, there you got a minor pentatonic scale, the phrygian mode has another minor pentatonic scale, the aeolian as you may know has another one and the locrian mode has another one, there, you got four minor pentatonic scales, with that you cant get really cool sounds
yeah, but i prefer not to go into pentatonic actually. i can take any mode i know of and find the pentatoinc version of it, but i prefer more powerful sounding things.
@HiImJerry8 there are only 3 pentatonics in each key not 4, locrian isn't one as it has b5 interval whereas a normal pentatonic has a regular 5th interval.
@HiImJerry8 the intervals are going to clash, so as long you are aware of where the b5 intervals occur and don't hang on them too long you should get away with it but i wouldnt over use it in this context.
@s5saweig yes,you must change scale because this tune modulates (change keys)...the basic approach for every minor seventh (m7) chord is the Dorian scale, but you can also try the ascending Melodic minor scale and Minoro Pentatonics (one for each key,I mean A minor penta,C minor penta...and so)
@GeorgeSoriano15 thanks for your comment George...but I'm working with a published to make a backing cd compilation and can't send you now the audio only:he (the publisher) permit me only to upload video version here..maybe in the future will be...
Great backing track, I love the part where it goes double time when the second Am7 comes around. So much fun to jam to!

if i improve only with the dorian scale relative to the chord there is something wrong? (i'm a beginner on improvvisation)
