I am expecting to spend maximum of RMB 4,500 per month. Would that be enough? Just asking, are you from Uni of Nottingham UK?

I was there in 2008/09 academic year. The cost of the international dorms is cheap, but food and other stuff might not be as cheap as you think. When I was there, the restaurants on campus and facilities were quite 3rd world, but I hear it has changed a lot now. To be honest, it's real hard to make Chinese friends at the UNCC campus, and hardly anyone in Ningbo speaks decent mandarin, only 宁波话, which is like 上海话 - completely different. Better to go to Beijing if you can, really
Although one good thing about Ningbo is it's good if you want something more representative of real China - that is, run down and 3rd world. You won't get that in Beijing and Shanghai, but easier to see the lasting effects of messed up Communist rule outside of the wealth of Beijing and Shanghai. But all East coast is getting rich now. If you go to Ningbo, you must buy an e-bike (电瓶车) straight away - best thing I did in China. The campus is in the middle of nowhere and you need one
