Thanks futurebrain for posting this! I still listen to the vinyl often; and have a cd I made of Living it Up/ with Ricky Peterson's version. They are both excellent.
The problem with humans in the 21st century is they have too much of darwinism brain washing mentality crap that says people have to stop being who they really are being it does not fit into the cultural 21st century norn(not cool or hip). So people are brainwashed into believing it is not normal to be themselves. The person they were born to be.
I always liked this song and that great EP this song was from. Should have been a big comeback hit for TDN. This EP and the rest of the TDN catalog need to be remastered and reissued on CD.
This was an excellent comeback return hit by Three Dog Night in 1984. I remember when this was on the radio. Sadly we will likely never see Chuck Negron with Cory Wells and Danny Hutton again.
Hi Van, you know why i love this song it's about the jungle we live in and about all we want eachother to believe that we are and that we are not . . . all what we have done and all that we could have left behind if we had n't done it. . . .
I wrote that in reverse order. The Roxy gig was an attempt to get a major record label deal. It didn't work, but, it wasn't THEIR fault. At the show with "Jungle," the audience reaction was so explosive we got THREE encores! Later I saw 2 Dog Night and they sucked. Having read Chuck's autobio, I'm amazed at how terrific he was when he was so sick. According to him, he'd be in the band still if they didn't insist on being a roving jukebox of old material. I miss THREE Dog Night. :(
@arfalon I MISS THEM too. IMO no three singers could harmonize the way Chuck, Danny & Cory could. I facebook message Chuck often ( & he replies). I would LOVE to see a "reunion" tour one more time...Peace.
I got to see them do this as part of their set, 10 feet away.Incredible.Saw them in '80 or '81 [I forget when they reformed] at the Roxy on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. My girlfriend and I had FREE front row tickets from a friend of Cory Wells. They were fabulous. We were so close, that, during "Joy To The World," Chuck Negron lowered his mic stand down to my girlfriend's face so she could sing along. She said, into the mic, lol, "NO WAY!" Also, when Chuck sang "Easy To Be Hard," I cried.
Had this track been produced by the same people who did UB40 it would have been a hit. For 1983 it sounded a bit dated, even though there's plenty synthesizer sounds on there.
@Geeljasjes The same cold be said about former Monkee Mike Nesmith's Cruisin from 1982. But remember these guys did not want to go over too much New Wave sound. They still wanted to keep a little bit of their traditional dated trademark style sound in their songs not comprimising too much.
Just because everybody and everything in reality has to change it does not mean they or it has to stop being who they or it really are or is.
This album was released without fanfare (in 1983) as Three Dog Night had long been out of the public spotlight. I have to think that the song "It's A Jungle Out There" would have been a hit had it been released during the Dog's heyday-
it is a catchy, reggae rhythm with strong lyrics, and I believe, a quality Corey Wells vocal.
@wheelinthesky300 Living it Up/ off this short but sweet vinyl was great! As was Shot in the Dark ( nothing like Ozzies song) I had to make a CD & play it often as I drive...I still adore Three Dog Night....Chuck, Danny & Cory & the boys....

Got to see Cory Wells in 1977 giving out autographs. Cool down to earth person. Quite funny humourous person.
