@bigtruckseriesreview It's called "vortex" ring state. And the error that causes it has been corrected. Pilots are also trained on exactly what nacelle angle and speed contributes to vortex ring state and how to get out of it. My information is based on facts, not a news article. R.I.P. to those Marines though.
So you're saying its prone to being in vortex ring state based on a few accidents on 2 test aircraft. Try reading "The Dream Machine" by Richard Whittle. Talks all about it and about the changes to the program. Pilot's are not allowed to put the plane into a vortex ring state based on their NATOPS manual. If they ever find themselves in that situation, they are trained how to get out of it. Besides that, the flight control computers won't "magically" do that to the plane.

Love the vid. And @ harp: the wings are ALWAYS IN 'airplane' mode maybe you saw a little toy airhogs with tilted wings. This is a tiltROTOR not tilt wing! Look at the real thing, only the naucelles move. Although studies have shown that the tilt wing would allow aprox. 10-20% better vtol performance... Hmmmm might be my next project XD. Nicely done again love it.
@TheHariputtar No it isnt. The wing stays in the same position the entire time. The flaperons are the only thing that change positions when in airplane mode, besides the nacelle of course.
@TheHariputtar The wing is not in fact vertical on an Osprey during vtol mode...see any video of the actual aircraft. Suggest you check your info before making a definitive statement such as that on the internet. Helps to not spread misinformation!
Of corse the cyclic and CP was the answer. All the guys that are doing it with RPM are making it hard on themselves. It only has 6 servos in the entire ship. And it flys in full airplane mode. I dont know how many servos the guys that are not running cyclic use but it has to be close to 6. Not sure what you mean by regulate....ITs go a swash plate just like a helicopter.
Wow so full size has a swash - no wonder everyone else suffered! I had heard crazy stories about how the V22 managed pitch control, even shifting the distribution of fuel forward and aft - that seemed crazy!!
1st thing is to consolidate all the electronics into one control board that will work with a standard 7 channel helicopter radio. I have started this part and shoud be done in a few months. Then its to make kits. PS flew all the scale parts in full airplane mode yesterday. That test went perfect. Just need to get the wife out their wit a camera to film it. That will happen soon.
Awesome job. I cant wait to see a video of a vertical tackoff, transition to full forward flight, then transition back for a vertical landing. Judging from your progress that wont be too much longer.
If it flew like the real aircraft I'd like it.

The real Osprey is extremely good...at getting US Marines KILLED.
bigtruckseriesreview 6 months ago
@bigtruckseriesreview and what are you basing this claim on?
kuriatal 6 months ago
@kuriatal
The fact it suffers from vertex ring state and GETS MARINES KILLED.

Vortex ring state can happen to any helicopter that descends too quickly. They claim it's been fixed? I sincerely doubt that.

The wing is supposed to be vertical during the VTOL mode
TheHariputtar 1 year ago
@TheHariputtar Who said? Or are you just making this up?
Rotormast 1 year ago
@Rotormast
if not then after the transition of the wings and the motors how will it fly like a plane?
TheHariputtar 1 year ago
@Rotormast making it in my opinion, it would create very weak points i the aircraft's fuselage where the wings would rotate
PSNdomgul58 9 months ago
@TheHariputtar only the nacelles tilt during vertical flight. You should look up some vids of the actual V-22, interesting stuff ~_^
obliviousfafnir01 1 year ago
@TheHariputtar No....the pods are vertical and transition for horizontal flight.

@TheHariputtar, maybe on the airhogs TOY, but not on the real thing. get your facts straight before posting!
