I just got my son a 10g tank with 2 goldfish. 1 commet, 1 fancy tail? How many more can we get in a 10 g tank? How much should i be feeding them? The store (whom I no longer trust after they told me 3 goldfish could fit in my initial 1.5g tank. 1 died) The store said 1 flake per fish in am and night.
why are African Cichilds are living with the Fancy goldfish? they arent the same type of water!! African Cichilds are _____ i think my dad said theyre fresh water.... me too i have afreshwater tank full of Black moors Orandas Red Fantails black skirt tetras serpea tetras and a Albino corycat.
The white fish at the bottom are whiteskiret tetras I believe. Ther reason there in an odd assortment of fish is because I was taking care of a friends fish at the time. They were only in the aquarium for a couple of weeks before he took them back. Theres no accounting for a friends choice of fish... lol.. I just took the oppurtunity to film what I thought were a bunch of beautiful fish. Not sure what type of cichlid it is.
It is indeed an african cichlid and the white fish at the bottom are white skirt tetras. I was actually babysitting the goldfish for a freind so they were with a couple of oddball fish in the tank. The goldfish were so cool I made the video.
Where do you keep you pH? Because usually great lake African Cichlids need high pH and South American Tetras usually need lower pH. I wanted to keep Malawi Cichlids with my angels but couldn't because of that.
I have found that the most important thing is to keep the water stable. Ph guidelines are for optimal conditions and breeding purposes. Most fish can tolerate pH, hardness, alkalinity, etc. that are not in their optimal range as long as the aquarium is stable with no ammonia or nitrites.
You already have way more fish than a 10 gallon could hold. The goldfish alone can get up to 7 inches (way bigger than a 10 gallon could house)
The general rule for feeding is to give them as much as they can eat in 5 minutes once a day. Half as much twice a day would be fine too.

They all get plenty to eat and are healthy. I was only keeping them for a short period of time, but they are all doing great

Does the fantail get harassed or out-competed for food by the common goldfish?

I am very happy to see that there are other goldfish owners out there who know how to properly care for their pets.

Nice fish, it looks bigger than 60 gallon. The yellow fish looks like African Cichlid to me. Is that goldfish? What are the white fish on the bottom?

Yes it is! Doesnt fit the video as well as the Norman Brown song I used originally, but this one apparently is more legal. :)

Knife-Grey Sea by Pilot Speed from their album Barely Listening is the song used in this video.
