I have a small question for you. When i did this and configured my 4GB usb drive for the 'box, i put some save files on it and stuff, not much, but then i had to update my Xbox, which i did, after which i noticed my USB drive had been reverted to a regular "storage device" and had to be reconfigured, in which process i lost all the save files on there. @firaszul99 First, size ratings on storage devices, whether it be hard drives or usb sticks, are rarely exactly the number listed. They are generally rounded up - for example I have a 600GB HDD in my computer, but if you actually do the math its only about 597GB. And second, the xbox installs a small amount of software onto that usb stick when you use it as a storage device. I believe the file size of this software is about 500-600MB

I can set my 16gb usb up fine but I can't find anywhere how to change the reserve memeory. It keeps reserving 16 gigs when i only want it to reserve like 1gig, I only want it for profiles etc and the rest of the space for college.

@DSLDARTH I don't think you can partition the drive like that. I'm pretty sure the Xbox reformats the entire drive which would wipe out any partitions.

I am looking for a method to do the same thing.

I was able to partition a 8GB USB pen drive into two partitions (FAT 32) in Windows XP, using a method that tells XP to recognise the USB pen drive as a typical harddrive. My Xbox did recognise the partitions but formatted the whole drive even though I chose to use only one partition.

I am going to check XBOX modding sites, These sites are best for this query.

@kiwikidfromegypt I think you can, but it has to be formated as a FAT32 and I think you can still only use 16 of it at once. So I USB drive will make more sense.

This is why Microsoft can afford to charge people for the service. That and they are starting to deliver much more than just online gaming with the ESPN channel and other cool features you only get with an Xbox Live Gold membership.

check the exlusives of each console and decide which you find better. I had the same choice less than a year ago and I chose xbox 360. When I only had one game I felt like maybe I did a mistake, but now I feel like it was totally worth and it's a great console, the online is great and it's very fun to play with friends and headset. Otherwise, the games are actually similar on both consoles, although 360 has Forza 4 now, and I totally love racing. Both are good anyway.

@FurryArtLover77 some brands just do that. I had a PNY USB that does that. pulling it out and them putting it back in while the xbox is on should fix it momentarily. I think some drives just don't work well.

SanDisk makes the ones for Xbox so they might be a good one to have. it has to be 1GB to 16GB in size and has to meet their storage performance standards and device integrity tests in order to be usable. I imagine if you buy a new high quality SanDisk you should be fine.

@jjstrapp I have had a PNY drive do this to me before. I just pulled the flash drive out while the Xbox is on and then put it back in and it seemed to be fine. If you reformat it, it will lose all your data. I had to do this often so you might have to do it each time your start your box. I know annoying.
