  • So to translate english into Baybayin would you translate it into filipino and then break it down into syllables and then into Baybayin?

  • question, couldn't you have just used the symbol for i to represent the y sound? no need for the sabat. i think when writing in baybayin, u need to use the abakada filipino writing system.

  • @LeoNaRdOBarRuGA - about ur tattoo, I was only referring to u. Yes, tattoos can be used as an art. Pero ano naman ung kinalaman ng art sa pangalan mo for tattoo. May special meaning ba or ikaw ba nag design sa Name mo na I-tatattoo sayo? Maganda sana Kung ibang pangalan, like some1 that is important to u. Yung Art may meaning, Hindi basta-bastang larawan. If u actually study ART, you'll know what I'm talking about.

  • @LeoNaRdOBarRuGA So your point is - ako yung katangi-tanging Pinoy na "zero idea about alibata from elementary-1st yr". So let just say that ako nga yung "the only person", so ano naman ngayon sayo? It's not like a crime. At na mention ko n ung topic n to sa few people, at wala din silang idea about Alibata. Pero I know that is not enough proof. But who cares anyway, well expect u. I don't have to prove myseft to u. To me, mayabang ka at akala mo kung sino matalino.

  • thanks for teaching us!! i will just having my tattoo next day.. using filipino alibata. but wondering how to write "BARRUGA" AND "LEI". thank u! appreciated ur live blog!

  • bro i love the song u were using. counting stars by nujabes.

  • your great..

  • good info bro. i like the gangstarr beat at the end

  • Waw.. Meron plang ancient writing ang Philippines. Nalaman q lang yesterday. I was wondering b4 na 'bakit wala ang Philippines ng special ancient symbols writing thing like Japan or China'. meron Naman pala. Very cool looking too.

  • @00APrilAq00 and Koreans... bawat letra may mga syllables ka agad...

  • @00APrilAq00 di mo alam na may ancient writing ang pinas..??? nag aral ka ba..???mukang di ka dumaan sa elementary at highschool. ah!

  • @LeoNaRdOBarRuGA nag aral ako sa pinas from kinder to 1st yr highschool (1996-2004) but i never learnt any Baybayin writing. kahit isang symbol wala. eh kung nag tteach pala ng Baybayin sa school, why do u even bother watching this video. you should have already know how to write Baybayin without watching this tutorial. Do u really think all pinoy knows Baybayin? well think again. I bet there's thousands or even millions of pinoy out there that dont hav any clue about Baybayin.

  • @00APrilAq00 -maybe your school especially your teacher is not intrested about it so she never teach you .. or maybe ONLY in your school..?? so i can say that youve been to a poor teaching school. where was that..?!LOl! and for the question why im here..?? im here to recall all alibata/baybayin because im about to have a tattoo and i want to write my name by using baybayin. still i need someone to correct the baybayin i made because i dont want to have mistake..tattoo is forever..

  • @LeoNaRdOBarRuGA WOW. naman. YABANG MO naman..!! Ano naman ngayon kung nag-aral ako sa Public school or "poor teaching school" as you say. Nagawa mo pang tumawa. Halos lahat ng school sa Philippines ay Public School, common lang sa Philippines na mag study sa Public School. SHAME ON YOU!! Nagawa mo pang mamintas/bully sa akin. HINDI KO ITO PINANOOD DAHIL SA "TATTOOS", I watch this 'coz I'm interested to learn about the Philippines ancient writing.

  • @00APrilAq00 if you studied in a public school, then maybe they really don't teach about alibata there. don't get offended but it's different in the phils. our public schools are not very good & even amongst private schools there are varying levels of instruction. it's good that you are trying to learn. i was puzzled by somany filipino responses here that never even heard of alibata, now i know why.

  • @LeoNaRdOBarRuGA -I actually read a lot of Alibata's History from various website for "MY OWN KNOWLEDGE" NOT because I wanna use it for useless TATTOOS and para ipag yabang. And Im actually happy that I have this knowledge now, Wala kang idea kung ilang Filipino out there that doesn't know anything Alibata. Masaya ako i-share itong knowledge sa people out there who doesn't know it Instead of judging them like you do.

  • @00APrilAq00 - maipag yayabang ang TATTOO thats why people doing it. .its an art! stupid!! you are out of topic - i just want to say that you have zero idea about alibata from elementary to highschool.! and thats ridiculous! yeah! theres so many people dont know alibata, but it seems u are the only person who just heard alibata for the very first time in your life!! just thank to cyphalip. atleast NOW U KNOW!!loL!

  • Respond to this video... and for the very well said. "Do u really think all pinoy knows Baybayin? " deym!! thats a good question. NOT ALL OF THE FILIPINO KNOWS HOW TO WRITE BAYBAYIN BUT YOU ARE THE FIRST PERSON IN THIS COMMENT BOX TO ASK that "oh!! we also have ancient writing..?i really dont know we have it. lol! im so disapionted youve been here from kinder to 1st year still havent heard the word ALIBATA? or ur just sleeping while your teacher is talking..

  • @00APrilAq00 it's quite possible that she did learn it in school & that her teacher/school (private) made the effort to teach them. In my school we were thought that there was an indigenous writing system called alibata, they didn't call it baybayin. they showed some samples, but that was it. maybe in other schools they never even bothered at all. idk

  • @LeoNaRdOBarRuGA Check out Hon. Leopoldo Bataoil speech about Baybayin. Search for "Baybayin in Congress" here on Youtube.

  • lol!! facepalm at 1:47 !

  • ya dude u Ar rigtH da man hu had a tattoo MAABUHAYA""" bad tat ever...hahaha!!!

  • LUPET TALAGA NG MGA PINOY!

  • I think the on written in his arm is correct. I'm not sure I could be wrong because there are some words like "kristo" when translated to baybayin, it says "Kirito", "Francisco" being "Parasiko"

  • I love you'r video's - I was just wondering when you write out Mabuhay - I thought it was only 3 sylables.. Does the Y really stand alone as it's own sylable?

  • @ssstherese Thank you. I actually go over this a bit in Tutorial #5, Traditional vs. Modern. Check it out, and if you still have questions, just leave a comment and I'll get to it when I can.

  • holy sht.. i didn't know filipinos had another writing system besides roman letters...

  • @zamm0rock Yup. We had our own religion, culture, writing system, language, poetry, mythology, and all that lovely stuff before the Spaniards came. :-O

  • kuya.. i need your help kasi i want to translate something for a tattoo. (yes i've read the about me section... :p) i just need help to see if my translation is correct, and if this link of a baybayin card is accurate, so i can spell out my tattoo correctly... :p oh and there was a comment below the baybayin saying... that if the vowel is i or e the kudlit would be on the upper portion, and the o or u on the lower... and if the letter is just single there is like this "+" sign at the bottom.

    kuya=older brother

    bunso=youngest in family

if wrong hit me up...for older&younger bro

  • i guess you don't really have the whole transliterations of the alibata... i'm a tatto artist if you don't mind me askin about that.

you just have to put all the characters in there. it's really a loss if you forget a single character in every tagalog word that you'll gonna translate

  • dude i'm glad you're pursuin on this ancient tagalog writing system but check your bathala project logo again it's missin the letter "T" in there. It just said "BAHALA" I AM ECIB FROM KAWIT CAVITE

  • @kukotematono Thank you for your support and good looking out.

This old logo I used to use made use of traditional Baybayin spelling, in which cross kudlits aren't used; thus, any consonant that did not have an accompanying vowel, (like the T- in baThala), would simply be dropped off, and thus "Bahala" would be the correct spelling for this. However, if you look at my current videos and website, I later added the Ta+ symbol, since I already use cross kudlits throughout my Baybayin work anyways

  • @kukotematono Indeed. For more insight on traditional vs modern Baybayin, check out the vid for Baybayin Tutorial #5

  • wow perfect tutorial! :)

I'm so interested in learning this writing system.

  • amen to you, dude

good to know many are interested in this stuff i think now you need to work on your calligraphy...

  • I think the guy who has the bad Tattoo ,. follows the ABaKaDa ... alphabets.. :D ...

M .. is pronounce Ma in filipino..

without knowing that Baybayin is a syllable writing system...

so he thinks the. Ma character is M actually M .. and thats goes the rest of the speling :P

  • ahhh! my boyfriend has an Alibata tattoo on his fore arm... I hope it's not done wrong!!! LOL

  • maybe im not watchin properly but what does it mean mabuhay?? thinkin of getting a baybayin tatoo but not sure what. any ideas??

  • 2 answers to this: If you're a tourist, we'll tell you "mabuhay" means "Greetings!" Which I guess it CAN be used like that, but no Filipino I know actually uses "mabuhay" to greet others.

Really though, it means "to thrive" or "to prosper", which is why, to our struggling country, the phrase "Mabuhay Pilipinas!" so so endearing to all.
