I was in Cornwall as well at the time of the shark news and it's well known it was all filmed in South Africa really - The only shark in Cornwall (aside of the mako)is the one who sells tickets for the 'Lands End Experience' Don't pay hom - walk from the lower end!It pisses him right off!!
aye i totally agree with you. I love basking sharks they are awesome. more cocunuts kill people a year than sharks and i say yeh we eat fish but we have no reason to go and kill a shark when the ocean is their homing enviroment not ours and just think them sharks have families too. sharks kill us because they mistake us for seals etc. but yea great whites actually like cold water for the prey you get in them. oh btw am off to cornwall soon and am lookin very forward to it. stayin in st.ives :o)
Curious isn't it .. people love tigers and hate sharks, yet tigers kill more people than sharks and you don't get "run with tigers" trips yet there are huge "swim with shark" businesses ... Jaws (and The Sun) have a lot to answer for in creating this negative hysteria about a beautiful creature
yeh very true,I believe the film jaws has alot to answer for with negativity towards these amazing creatures, unfortunately seeing the film at a young age does have a mental effect on a child I know this due to the fact speaking from personal likeness,i mean ive always swam in the sea(channel, atlantic, med)but that film sadly always seems to be in the back of your mind,I think the ultimate cure would be to swim with a shark(s) what do you think man?
The shark has a rough time, they kill around 5 people a year worldwide and almost always as a case of mistaken identity as they don't want us. We kill around 100 Million of them a year in the cruelest way imaginable ... we take them live, slit their spines, saw off their fins and throw them, still live, back into the water to be eaten ... hmm ... which species is cruel and vicious??
yeehhh ther is no way you wud get a great white in the uk...water is two cold, not the same minerals in it as tropical water as it is dirtier. however ther was a bottle nosed dolphin up north wher i live, it lived in the dock but recently died. cant live long in our environment.
Actually you are likely to get great white's here ... and indeed further north ... but VERY rarely. And blue sharks.. indeed, there are around 24 species of shark in British waters, and I for one am very pleased.
There is no contradiction ... it is likely there will be another ice age, but they are pretty rare too .. it is also likely that the sun will eventually turn into a red dwarf, but I doubt that that will happen more than once - and not in my lifetime ...
Yes its a 2007 video and no its not teh same shark - this was cornwall south coast. The second of the recent so called white sightings was definitely a basker though .. just like this one ... look at the fin shape
This is a small one ... you will be lucky to see them, I have been out twice, 4 hours at a time, height of basker season, and seen only this one .. too young and nervous to swim with but I would love to one day ....
dude awesome i have been going to cornwall every year for 10 years and iv never seen one were was that?
