HELP!!! I recently bought a AT2020 with shock mount and pop filter. However, my vocals feel quite 'tinny', the sibilance is terrible, the words like S, Z, T sound really high pitch! Any and all comments welcome.
@yusuf1608 Lift the mic higher and point it towards your chest. Sing straight forward as usual. This will let the worst pops pass below the mic and emphasize the mids/lows. As for the sibilance, De-esser helps, but choosing another mic would probably be better in the long run.
Great to see the vid having read the article but some footage dubbed with each mic would be great so we can hear the differences for ourselves. 7:02 cameraman nose whistle was fantastic
good idea for a study, but the final presentation of it all needs some work. it feels more like reality t.v. and less like an investigative experiment.
Whats with the Blurry to focus camera work? It's tacky, annoying & distracting. Just keep the damn camera still! God, I swear I'm the only person noticing the flash strobal editing of the 2010s.
The video is a trailer for the SOS in-depth article and audio files you can download into Pro Tools etc and check out and assess yourself. See SOS website JULY 2010 edition.
how's that educational ata ll? a bunch of old people sitting there testing top range mikes on various singers and letting them pick their faves. "the world's best music recording mag"... get lost
@v1o actually now i think about it, the styles will have played a part. if you notice the rock/hip hop guy had a pop shield because he was closer to the mics for the more immediate sound he will have been after.
i'm on acid, which mic would work best for my voice

I found the results. After they all narrowed it down to four and did a blind vote:
the Amy Winehouse sounding girl: AKG C12
the female classical singer: AT2020
male crooner: AKG 414B-ULS
rap guy: EV RE20

Dont think much of this There is no conclusion to what mic was choosen

The rack focusing was very annoying. Half the time was spent focusing, instead of on the products themselves. Very annoying.
