To clarify, in battle you get neither Celes's nor Mog's abilities. Mogutan has only the "Fight" and "Item" commands. What's more, he can't equip espers or any weapons better than those he starts with, and if you bring him to the World of Ruin, he'll be completely dequipped and fight with his bare hands for the rest of the game. So yeah, utterly useless.
@minstrelofmoria woah... I still don't try it... But even if it is useless, I think having the chance to play with Mogutan is still a nice and funny detail :P
I love this glitch. A shame it's "temporary." Once you hit and finish the Opera House, Mogutan gains Celes's sprite, but retains his/her useless abilities, skills, etc. However, Celes is not lost! You only need to free Celes before the World of Ruin(with Locke in your party, preferably alone) and Celes will join like normal (you lose Mogutan, of course).
So you can't have more than 3 moogles in your team (Mog and Strago/Relm in the Moogle Suit). I wonder if the Moogle Suit can be Rippler-ed...
@Onotosho I really don't know. I preferred Locke in his original form than merchant/soldier outfits. Since you're forced to switch clothes as you rescue Celes if you kept them so long, I assume you lose it if you try to keep Celes. =/
xD... So... in battle u have Mog menu and skills? Or Celes menu and skills?... And, what does it happen when u get Mog in ur party too... then u have 2 Mogs? xD... I never liked him in battle!
Quite possible on the SNES cartridge. Also, this guy missed the real fun part, namely having Locke steal the green imperial gear before leaving. Furthermore, you can reverse the Moghan part of the glitch by taking Locke back downstairs later (but not actually rescuing Celes).
It's a bug in the game. If you clear Lock's scenario without rescuing Celes (by using the movement bug here), then Celes is replaced with Mogtan, and basically becomes a useless character for the entire game).
Mogutan is one of the moogles you get to play as in the first multi-party battle defending Terra from the Narche soldiers.
He can't equip an esper, you can't equip him with other weapons, and he's essentially an extremely useless character... Waiiiiit, can you equip relics on him? Might be good for TAS... hummm...

@AkaiAzul if you go back for celes, would locke lose his new outfit? I would like to keep the new troopers outfit on him for the rest of the game

@Zeromux i didnt noticed that in a party you can have 3 moogles:
1. famous general moghan
2. mog
3. relm (equiped with moogle suit)

@oflari woah xD... that's right! I never thought about it before cause Mog is not one of my main party...(I never liked him x_x)
Wait...now that I think about it...
If you had more than one Moogle suit, you could then have 4 Mogs in ur party xD... Strago also equipped that armor!
Zeromux 1 year ago
@Zeromux strago could do it too? :D
oflari 1 year ago

Use a Thunder Rod. Makes Tunnel Armor insanely easy.
Gerenocidiac 5 years ago
This assumes you can defeat Tunnel Armor with Locke alone. It's really not that easy.
