  • Awesome! I just lost my right arm on New Year's Eve. This makes me think that I will ride again!

  • Can anything stay with that bad boy.... don't think so

  • Just from my perspective, the grandsons that remind EZD Falcon Rowdy . are : Rowdy Rawhide's Star's Falcon Rowdy

& Rowdy Rawhide's Wiley, aka Falcon,

There may be others I do not know or did not see. In my opinion It's absolutely distinct , those two are the copy of the original.

  • the guy riding the horse got shot

  • Great rider, great horse, great song!

  • Wow !!!!! this racking horse is super fast, what is his top speed ?... You can tell this horse is determined by the way he holds his head to find more speed ..awsome racking horse" EZD Falcon Rowdy" and RIDER ...

  • this is the horse who started it all.<3

  • I cant help but keep watching..woooot wooot

  • my mom was like, "Is he not wearing an arm." instead of saying, "Is he missing an arm."

  • I have a little pusher bred mare who speed racks, nothing like it!!! And dont let that one armed man fool ya, I have a friend who fights wildland fires and only has one arm, and any one from good ole Kentucky knows Tim Farmer as well..........

  • @victory6720 Yup, and Tim Farmer is an amazing guy. Not only does he do everything everyone else does, but better, he also spends a lot of time helping other disabled sportsmen get back in the woods.

  • amazing

  • amazing

  • I can see the reason for gaited horses when I wach fabulous horses like this.

  • THE MAN THAT ONCE WAS i live by you every day

  • Spectacular!! Awesome smooth horse,,bareback even!!

  • not to be rude is that man missing a arm?!?!?!?

  • @rockymntgirl215 Yeah, he is riding bareback and only has one arm.

  • that reminds me of twillight when he runs.

  • Absolutely amazing! Some of the show ring practices of gaited horse owners (chains, weights, soring, etc) are disgusting but this horse looks totally natural, and extremely happy. That rider sits beautifully, too, so kudos to him. I love my Quarter Horses & Australian Stock Horses, but looking at this makes me want a horse that racks.

  • Smooth.

  • alright ! Somone appreciates Johnny Cash! :) great song great horse! :)

  • This horse had been clocked at 51mph, doubt many people have any better than this ole boy.

Search John Demetris and EZD Falcon Rowdy

  • I got a pointer that runs like that !

  • This horse i have heard so much about and heard the story on him going to alabama and winning the world grand championship speed racking flatshod. This is one amazing horse.

  • I tell you what I am Impressed he is doing it with 1 arm..You go boy gooooo!!!!!

    Beautiful & Smoooooth!!!!

  • I've gone back and read some of the older posts, especially those about Rowdy's bloodline. His sire was the Colonel, a large standardbred, and his dam was a cremello mare thought to be Paso crossed with Arabian or saddlebred. His gait wasn't a learned lick, it came as natural as breathing to him. And you'd think he'd be transported in the finest padded trailer, but actually did most of his traveling in the back of a pick up with a cattle rack. Totally no nonsense horse and owner.

  • I knew Johnny well, and rode with him and Rowdy many times. One thing that's not been mentioned, is that he tacked the his horses by himself. And if you're not impressed by that, try it sometime using only one arm. I own a great-grandson out of Rowdy, but he's nowhere near the horse his great-grand dad was. He has the lick, but not the speed, and he's an absolute bastard when using him for stud.

  • Looks like another buckskin.

Riding like your gonna be late for an appointment.

    Thats smooth.

    Nice.

  • A one-armed man going that fast, bareback. Clearly you don't have to "hang on" at this gait. What a ride!

  • What a fantastic horse, beautiful! Great rider too.

  • Amazing! Love the song...great video...made me happy to watch this....lucky horse...lucky man! Great team!

  • Can only assume the colour is as stunning as the horse (shame you can´t see that!). WOW for that movement!

  • does anyone know where the orginal EZD Falcon Rowdy came from the bloodline I am assuming the falcon part is from standardbred blood just wondering know of a one arm guy with same color horse in west virginia years ago thanks if you have info

  • @drooprb75 Half Standardbred, yes, but the name doesn't have breed significance in this case.

  • Nice horse! That's a bad ass gait!!

  • wow lmao perfect song for that horse and his rider. it looks like they could go everywhere man.

  • he was a good rider

  • That's pretty good riding for one arm! lol Great job

  • yep one arm and bareback he and the horse are good!

  • Wow! Gave me chillbumps! Once-in-a-lifetime ride! Binomio perfecto! And thanx for posting & all the knowledgeable comments... much appreciated!

  • does any notice he has 1 arm

  • I simply cant say enough about these two, crazy time's down in the mountain.Only went on one ride with the pair, but my brother went on a bunch of em.Brother Mike said Johny & Rowdy were 5 gaited,walk/rack/trip/stumble/fall.But that was just brother Mike. And don't worry about what kinda lick your horse is hittin,if it feel's good ,jump on,hang on,enjoy the ride.

  • Wow! I can't imagine going that fast bareback!

  • Not educated enough on these horses to comment if being ridden "correctly; " in the horse world "correct" is often very subjective. Before Avalon I had never owned a gaited horse. Still, I tossed the caveson, shanked bit and the lot to the curb and rode her in a kimberwicke. Most of the time a snaffle now. I ride her short because she is flighty, but light and easy. Pulling in her head will not engage her back end so I just let her go how she likes best and enjoy the ride.

  • man with one arm ...?

  • These rednecks need to buy themselves a mopette and leave horses alone .... how sad for the horse

  • Ride one, feel the power, then talk. That is not an unhappy horse.

  • O MY GOD I FUC... LOVE THIS HORSE I WICH TO KNOW IF THERE STILL SONS OF THESE HORSE OR FROM ESPECIALLY THIS BREEDLINE THAT HAS THIS ESPECIAL QUALITYS AND JUST EXACTLY LIKE THIS ONE iam from puertorico and u could see any of our horses and ours horse track called ANDADURA WE HAVE TO MANY HORSES FROM HERE CALLED CRIOLLOS THIS HORSES ARE SO SIMILLAR TO THE PONYS, BUT OURS FLY LIKE THE LIGHT I WISH I COULD HAVE A HORSE FROM THIS BREEDLINE ANYONE THAT KNOW PLEASE LET ME KNOW I WILL APRECIATED

  • His grandson is rowdy's rocket and he is up for stud for $600.00

  • their is also rowdys rawhide and rowdys rebel gold and many others the line from this horse is called Demetrise hoorses after the original owner(the man in the video) you know that horse is smooth for him to ride it bareback and he only has one arm.

  • My mare is a Foxtrotter and the gait is similar that it is a diagonal gait with the exception that Foxtrotters "trot" with the front feet and kinda glide the hind feet. This horse appears to be trotting but he's not. Many foxtrotters can rack but mine can't. She is simply hard-wired for the foxtrot and doesn't perform a proper 3-beat slow canter. Still, riding her is like floating on a cloud!

This is a gorgeous horse! He and his rider appear to be having a blast!

  • Hi scherryann no this not at all similar to a fox trot i have had and shown foxtroters and racking horses and single footers. if you notice in the video the horse only has one foot on the ground at all times. that is a single foot gait. you can alos hace a 4 beat or a three beat rack depending on the stule and gait of the rack their are so many different variations but a foxtroter still trots and will not rack or single foot withought aid like weighted shoes these do it naturally

  • Thank you for educating me! I will have to watch the vid again; I am blind as a bat! My mare is capable of a "hard trot" but she was corrected early on in the game whenever she would try it and it only took about 4 or 5 times for her to get the idea that mom did not like being bounced. Again, a stunning team.

  • mine too but she is trained really wierd she will rack if your in the show ring but she foxtrots out of the arena

  • My horse was shown as a baby (2 year old and much too young IMO). She has fantastic bloodlines with a lot of the Foundation names in her pedigree, but does not have the mental stability to show! haha So they bred her and got a champion baby from her. Only one she ever had. I am not sure I will ever breed her because I would be looking for a replacement for her and no horse could ever do that. Besides...so many horses in need of homes :(

  • ooo yeah what color is she?

  • That was sooo cool, especially with the part where that horse just Took Off. Totally amazing!

  • what makes a racking horse rack?? is it a breed?? please i think they are all cool

  • this is cool.

  • I have just found astud out of falcons cup, Iwas thinking that he may be the same breeding. he is a 91 model. His # is k92128 he is full standardbred, if you could let me know I would appreciate it SHAWN

  • Wowza! talk about jaw dropping! I gotta have me one of these! Dang... this looks like hoot to ride!

  • I've been fortunate enough to own one of these horses. She was good, but never as good as this one. I've been aware of this horse for a very long time, but I never got to see him. I'm in total awe of him, and I keep coming back to watch this again and again. I wish my little girl could have racked like this, but if she had, I don't know if I could have ridden her. She could stop just like him too, three jumps to a standstill, and without losing her rider.

  • This kind of horse used to be all over Southern Kentucky, although they've just about died out in the last thirty years to be replaced by Tennessee Walking Horses. They were definitely NOT Walking Horses. They were a mixture of Saddlebreds, Standardbreds, ponys, western horses and probably some Thoroughbred. The all looked just like this. They were fast and surefooted and great for riding down the paths, dirt roads and creek beds that served for roads.

  • I say we just call em all 'Rowdy" Horse's! If they have Rowdy blood inem you'll know it!?!?! Ain't no mistakin that lick!!!!

  • Falcon Rowdy was a cross withe standardbred and pony stock. Anybody from southwest virginia who knew the horse or Johnny knows this. Nothin wrong with just the truth. And not just standardbreds are gaited horses. A rack is a man made gait. Some horses pick right up on it fast others, have to have alot of time on the trail before they take off with it. TWH's can be gaited Morgans, Saddlebreds and the icelandic horses have all been broke to rack before in the past and continue to do so.

  • you are on the right path my uncle remembers them both and most racking come off of a pace my grandpa back in the days long time ago they use call it slew foot pacer he said even tenn. walking horses where called tenn. pacers many many years ago

  • People these are Standerdbred's

  • No, they are not Standerbred's. You are quite mistaken. These are SOUTHERN RACKING HORSES! Way back when, TWHBEA got into a fight with the people who refused to allow, mechanical, device based gait, as an option for the breed. So, folks in ALABAMA decided to break away and form their own registry. RHBAA. Sadly, they have now gone down this same path and are about dead because of it. The horses, however, remain. Falcon Rowdy was on of them! Look it up.

    Lucy

  • EZD Falcon Rowdy was HALF Standardbred. His sire was the Colonel who was a Standardbred. His dam was a pony of unknown origin who was fabulously gaited. Racking horses aren't really a breed. They've had a totally open registry to any horse that could gait. Many "registered" Racking Horses are pure Standardbred.

NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. Standardbreds ROCK!

  • my family knew him this horse was half standardbred all racking is slew foot pacing even tenn. walker in history where called tenn. pacers

  • I've seen standardbreds and Icelandic horses doing their thing but what the??I've never heard of a racking horse, what breed is it? Very unusual.

  • The Alabama racking horse, AKA Virginia singlefooter, singlefooting horse, etc., can be found in the Southeastern US. Many have never been registered. Many are with RHBAA, and other singlefooting registries. The are the finest racking horses in the world. Many of them are double registered/TWHBEA. They also RW, and they ALL CANTER. Make no mistake, they are superb athelets and can easily perform ALL THE GAITS. These horses are the best horses on the planet. They can jump too.

    Lucy

  • Thanks for the info Lucy, I have standardbreds and they are definately not standardbreds but I thought their gait looked a little like the Icelandic horse. I'd be interested in their origin, what breeds they derive from. The look like they just glide along and look comfortable to sit to. They canter and jump too? Very versatile. Maybe we need some in Australia!!

  • standardbreds are from the narggest pacers not sure on spelling i will try to find the website for you that explains its a long story all the way back to 1100's even read books on it too most all gaited breed derived from a pacer the list goes on and on

  • @annod6 Hi, I just imported a racking mare into Australia from this bloodline. She is the first one downunder and is creating quite a scene on the trails! Can't find a Aussie brave enough to ride with me yet. She flys! I will be shipping semen from America soon.

  • @fourbeatclick Good on you!

  • If you don't realize that the best singlefooting/racking stock is at least part standardbred, you need to do some more research. By comparison, TWH's are not bred or built to speed rack. For speed racking purposes great TWH's are genetically inferior to average standardbreds.

  • I disagree with that. My cousin has a TWH that can rack 32 mph.

  • Every field has a few weeds. I've had a fast wh or two myself, but they're still not as fast as standardbreds (unless they're in a horse trailer)... LOL

  • I love this I had 8 tenn walker but now i have 4 standardbreds walkers are to slow for me raised on standard cars pace on

  • rack is man made pacing is a natural gait racking use to be call slew foot pacers all of these registerys that call there self racking is not about a breed about what the horse does i agree with you 100% it nuts

  • AWSOME!!! My husband showed me this video. I never got to see him ride (before we met) but I can just picture him. Sorry about them both being gone, but what an awsome pair! We also are enjoying all the videos we can find with his desendants, He is an awsome reproducer! Thanks for sharing your video.

  • I used to ride, train,&show racking horses in the 70's&80's. rode some fast ones seen some fast one's but Rowdy is the fastest I've ever seen. Was truley sad to read Rowdy& Johnny are gone.I bet their together riding in the clouds.I just found this video 3-31-09.Watched it about 10 times still watching it.Love it.Brought back alot of memories. Thanks

  • woohoo!! he looks like so much fun! What breed is he??

  • That would be "Rowdy"Horse blood,if you find another like that .....Take a #....Closest I've seen so far was a grt.grnd.son....You know who you are

  • Rowdy and Johnny what a pair. I remember as a kid riding with johnny and my good friend Tommy Wright over on Owl Branch. Alot of things have been said about Rowdy, but he was for real and he was as fast as they say he was. Thanks to Johnny and Gerald Wright of Magic Mt. Stable for my start with racking horses. And thanks to ROWDY he was one special horse Todd Osborne

  • One arm and no saddle, and haulin' butt, wow!.... Since I discovered this video, I bet I've watched it twenty times.... Heck, I might give my right arm for that Stallion.

  • does anyone know when this was filmed ,I 'm in love with this horse can't get enough of this

  • @possum2u In 1972 i think

  • @Rackingon thanks ,somebody should write a book about this amazing creature

  • I've had the opportunity to know both horse & rider, and if you asked me you'd be far reachin to find a better pair. One armed Johnny & Rowdy.Fastest damn rackin horse I've ever seen, and ain't seen one since,Trust the video as good as it is doesn't do either one justice.Oh yeah, did you notice??? No saddle ???God Rest'em both

  • I've got a mare that can move this way. Not that fast (I don't think anyway) but REAL FAST! I push those reins up and let her go and she just books! You have to know how to ride this type of horse and, sadly, most folks don't. You never hold them up via bit. Give them their head. I'm saddened to see related videos showing fast racking with horrible bits and cranking on the horse's head. This is completely incorrect and if you watch the falcon and JD you will see the difference.

  • Why don't you put a video of you riding your mare on You Tube so that we can see the correct way to ride?

  • Don't get your back up. It wasn't meant as a put down. Just an honest comment. Perhaps I'll do just that , but my mare IS NOT FOR SALE! I'd sell my liver before I'd sell the TM! Not breeding her either, she's my ride. There is no ONE correct way. Depends on all sorts of stuff and the horse your riding. More on this soon.

  • lucyepona, I bet your mare is all strung out and in a pace too!!! Since you know so much...where the hell is your video of your MARE! Put it up or shut the hell up, and I think I speak for just about all of us! Can I get an AMEN!!! If I was the owner of this video I would block your dumb ass!!!

  • Taping off tv=FAIL.

  • The horse and rider are amaxzing!! The rider has one arm - I'm really impressed!

  • Look on youtube, search Rowdy Rawhide's Rocket. He is a grandson of this horse, and his sire is Rowdy Rawhide, a direct son of this horse. The Hardys in N. Carolina own Rocket and have a pretty colt for sale on their website.

  • I've watched that video. Rocket is wonderful but ridden poorly, way overbitted, and cranked. This is why he doesn't go as well as his grandsire. It's a shame. Give that horse his head!

  • WOOO look at them legs go!

  • gobshite dont no how to jock a trotter................. if ya wanna see fast ill put up a vid of a fast trotter n me jockin em...........

  • thats not a trotter.that's a gaited horse just like a Icelandic just alot faster.

  • That horse can flat out fly! Wow, what a rush to ride something that fast. I've been there (but slower) and the phrase "Once ya rack ya never go back" is so true. Happy Trails!

  • AWESOME Video.

  • this video was good

    funny video lets chat CR

  • What an incredible horse and an inspiring rider! Thank you for sharing this amazing video.

  • Perfection!

If a horse can't perform like this fancy shoeing and cranking it up with ropes and pullies is just ignorant!

  • AHH i gota mare kin to him.

  • There is only 1 horse like this. I can watch this video over and over. He is AWSOME.

  • Absolutely downright out of this world amazing, and what a jockey!

  • Fantastic horse! Great video.

  • Super video to watch when you're depressed. That horse's movement really lifts my spirits!

  • Cool!!

  • Any offspring you would recommend to breed a mare to? Any offspring for sale available anywhere?

  • super cool. looks so smooth!!

  • super fast (freak of nature)

  • Like, wow. That horse's hip is epic. No wonder he can fly.

  • this is amazing! that horse has beautiful color, great speed, and lovely gait. your blessed with an incredible animal.

  • Very impressive horse and rider. Also take note- rider is missing right arm. Which would make it harder to balance. Awesome!

  • I've rarely seen a rider so at one with his horse as to appear almost as one entity, truly amazing.

  • Truly cool horse and rider! They are both amazing! How do you stay that together with no leg wrap around the barrel! His balance is so far back... Makes me wonder if I'm STILL too much on the fore!

  • God! Bearback!!

  • Wow, that horse is amazing!

  • one word......WOW.......

  • STILL my all time favorite video ever! I was wondering when this would make it to youtube! LOVE IT!! Johnny D is a legend!

  • WOOO look at them legs go!

  • WOW, great horse, great rider. i love this video!

  • Awesome !! watched it 10 times or more, the horse is fantastic and so is the rider, great video !! Kudos :)

  • That looks fun! I've got to see if my boy can speed rack. I mean, I know he can, I just don't always get it when I cue for it ... but I've had him rack faster than canter on a gymkhana pattern or two. ;)

  • I love to watch this horse. I could watch him all day. He is an amazing horse.

  • Thast tells in German Tölt or Pass, thats the Gaits from the icelandhorses.

    The fast one is Pass

  • this is so awesome

  • Com esse cavalo ai eu vou na casa da minha da minha namorada e da amante ao mesmo tempo!! Maravilhoso animal , apesar que gosto da marcha batida com estilo , congradulation good ride!

  • wow! that makes me want to ride one really bad! i mean your whole upper body doesnt even budge, and neither do your legs! obviously you have to hold on but still! that looks FUN!

  • he wasnt buckskin he was more of a blue roan with full black main, tail and stockings but changed colors throughout the year and yes you can look and see that he's riding with one arm but what i wanna know is how old is he now (the horse)

  • Sorry to say both ride and rider have passed, both are missed, anyone who knew Johnny & Rowdy, and yes they were one in the same. When they saw this video they burst into tear's,and watched it again, and giggled like a little school girl.Rack On!!!!!!

  • The first time I saw FR I thought he was ugly. High in the rear and just sort of oddly made, long backed, etc. HA! THEN I WATCHED HIM MOVE! To this day, he is the most beautiful horse, in motion, I've ever seen. Just goes to show you, don't judge until you see the horse moving. I wish I could have meet them and yes, I can tell, they were one in the same. That's how it should be. RACK ON!!!!

  • I love this horse! I can watch him all day.Can you believe this guy has one arm and riding bare back! And he has been every where!Showing, breeding, and trail riding.

A lot of good horses out of this stallion.

  • They are amazing

  • John is my new HERO!!!! Gotta LOVE that SPEED!!!

  • "Rack On" John and Rowdy

  • This is by far the best video documenting what gaited horses are capable of doing if left NATURAL!

  • I can't stop watching this! I can see where the idea of a centaur came from.

Does anyone know if there's a site I could read up about this horse? I can't seem to find much on him and I'd really like to know how how tall he was, was he specifically bred or was the one just an incredible

    'accident'.

  • Hi, he was only 14 hands believe it or not! he was from a Standardbred which was crossed with a cremello pony. Can only guess what the pony was!

His offspring move beautifully too. Check out Rowdy Rawhides Rocket. You will NEVER see a gaited horse move with such grace and style!

  • Unbelievable! He looks so much bigger than that! I guess you sometimes luck out.

  • I bet the pony was a paso fino or some really gaited breed! This horse is one of a kind can you agree?

  • @speedracker WAtch ROWDY GOLD go

  • Gotta love that beautiful buckskin coloring and that wonderful and FAST singlefooting gait. That guy sure can ride if he has one arm and is riding EZD Falcon Rowdy bareback!

  • Oh sh.... are they fast!!!! :D

  • WOW! This horse can move! Beautiful!

  • So cool! You NEVER see Singlefoots!

  • this is amazing, ive got 2 filly's out of the va undertaker

  • how old are your fillies can they fly

  • well, i sold one of them and i kept the one with the white markings. yea she can go pretty good.

  • It's amazing, and the rider only has one arm??? :o

  • awesome horse, i love gaited horses, my walker does a slower rack, for my sake that's good LOL!

  • this is EZD's falcon rowdy fastest racking horse of all time if u got a horse to match this speed you should be famous

  • I think "The Grave Digger" is trying his best to come close =)

  • Grave Digger is a good horse but has never won a World Championship or any other major speed Racking titles against other fast horses. Don't kid yourself... Falcon Rowdy was one of a kind.

  • Wow! What an incredible team! I've never seen a horse like this before. Amazing!
