  • can something like this be made with Linear actuators instead of Step motors? i have some warner electric LA's with pots for position sensing/feedback. 24v dc with 5 wire hook up.....would mach 3 control them the same it would a Step motor...i know im loosing alot of RPM but its just an idea right now.

Where can I find this magical stock?

eBay just because it is recycled doesn't mean it is free. I built a 3'x6' CNC machine from old demo stock from my work. (I was a Factory Automation Engineer until last year.) and it is a great machine. $100 for the RotoZip head. I also have an old Sherline head I use on it. This would have cost $12K to $15K if I had to buy everything new. I look on ebay and see things we sell for $3000 go for $200 etc. Just have to know what to look for.

  • @DeanGuilberry2 so if im imagining this correctly your Rotozip tool is attached to a Step motor that is controlled by the Mach 3 software.does the software turn the Rotozip on for you or do you have to flip the switch yourself?..im trying to make a CNC machine myself but am confused about what/how controls the up and down motion and how to integrate the tool ie a dremel/router/Rotozip into the hole system. any tips are appreciated.

  • Wait so you're telling me that you found 3 stepper motors, a watercooled spindle, control box and all...all in industrial stock thats been recycled?

Where can I find this magical stock?
