Bernard Edwards from 'Chic' was the master... Edwards played a Music Man StingRay (bequeathed to Duran Duran's John Taylor after his death)...

Larry Graham from 'Sly and the Family Stone...' was the pioneer of the 'Thump' slapping method....

What about Mark King from 'Level 42' and Patrick O'Hearn from 'Missing Persons/Frank Zappa...' Both whom blow Beggs and Taylor into oblivion...

And Paul S. Denman of Sade fame???

Dang man, Nick Beggs and John Taylor have to be the two greatest bassists who rocked the New Wave sound! No offense to Beggs, but John Taylor made it look even cooler than he did. But Beggs is a VERY close 2nd cuz of his amazing skills. I've just seen John Taylor rule the bass art on more levels than Beggs so far but Beggs is no joke.
