So they make a law suites so companies KNOW of the risks and potential damages that they might inflect on Hawaii? why cant we just make a law saying no GMO testing in Hawaii period because of the risk of contaminating our native plants and animals?! do people not care?! this is really frustrating! And not just Hawaii, all endangered genetically diverse ecosystems all over the world! KEEP THE TESTING ON THE MAINLAND!
There will be a protest to get genetically engineered/modified organisms labeled in front of Long's streetside on Ka'ahumanu Ave in Kahului, Maui 8:00am - 11:00am on 3/26/11. Many other states are participating as well.

Awesome video! I can't believe that happend to those 6 londoners. I guess the crops were too potent. I still agree with the basis of their project even though they should test it on animals and volunteers and let people know about it so it doesn't damage innocent people. They should be growing the crops in green houses/labs not outside where the plants can cross pollenate.
there's alot more you don't know shit about genetic engineering and life sciences, obviously.
Since they are experiments, they don't know exactly anything about the results - longterm, or shortterm.
Meaning, it could take a longer time for the bacteria, chemicals, or any genetically-altered DNA to take affect on the natural gene pool of Humans and the rest of the animal kingdom.
I was implying that it could be too late for anything to be done about some of those problems. Realeasing those plants into the wild, fucking up the gene pool of pretty much all the plant species in the area, they can't assure of any benefits or disasters, longt-term/short-term. Even the SLIGHTEST change in the gene-codes could(indirectly/directly) send the ecosystem to a disaster. It's stupid to have open-air experiments - of all fields of study.
No. "fucking up the gene pool of pretty much all the plant species in the area". No. God damnit. Cross species contamination is incredibly rare, and has only been reported with some controversy in some pest and weed species in direct contact to the GM species. Again, you are talking crazy talk. I am quite an environmentalist too, but that doesn't mean these people can't be wrong.
You know, I was starting to think these guys know what they were talking about. Then I got to the shirtless worried about Bt corn pollen blowing next to the school. Bt corn is about 75% of America's corn now. There hasn't been ANY indication or link with ANY problems in humans with ANY strain on the market. Maybe if you guys got that part right, I'd be able to listen to the concerns with coffee without a bias against you guys.
...As they said, if even GMO cells get realeased in the wild environment, it could have ir-reversable chatostrophic affects against even the natural versions of the plant species we eat, as well as the rest of the eco-system -- and the problems would snowball from there. Didn't you read about the small story at the end talking about the 6 Brits getting sick from the tests?
Yes, I must be crazy to condone bio-terrorism. In fact I would be...if that were even remotely analogous to this n any scale. But it's not. Why? because you're making crazy talk.
I can't in a 500 character limit. Proving them wrong would require several 10 minute educational videos on the dynamics of GM crops, the procedures, and regulations. I'd point to wikipedia, but it's lacking in these subjects right now. If you look back, my original comment was my disappoint that they simply were rational or fair on their subject matter.

Thank Ronald Regan & Bush Sr. for GMOs.

You do realize you just summed up the entirety of experimental medicine, right?

What are you thinking, Epyon42?...

...This is literally a case of organized bio-terrorism.
This is like the Center for Disease Control without an enclosed building or any sealed-off labs.
Research, "CDC" in Atlanta.

And that, my friends, is crazy talk.

No, bitch, you must be crazy or stupid to condone this kind of shit.

Well, you've spent more time simply saying that they're just wrong instead of exposing me to theories alternative from the video.
P R O V E them wrong. Then I'll consider considering it. :)
