POSSIBLE SPOILER... iono. Anyway, if Leonard = Sammy then how can Leonard remember killing his wife since it wasbafter the incident, and how come Leonard responds to conditioning whereas Sammy doesn't? Or am I misunderstanding the whole thing? Help?

@ZaraMunro I don't know the answer to your first question. As to the second, It's because Sammy's problem was psychologically based and Leonard's is physical. I don't really know why but apparently having it physically based means you can still respond to conditioning. It's explained in one of the earlier parts of the movie.

@latin0prid3 No. The hippocampus is in the middle of the brain, and is almost never damaged by a a blow to the head. It's more often caused by a stroke. A blow to his head might cause language or IQ (for want of a better word) but not anterograde amnesia (which btw is a long-term memory defect NOT short-term -which they got wrong - althoguh they got the implicit memory bit right (Sammy's learning from instinct)). I wrote an essay on this the other day!!!

I mean, she knows....well...hold on...SPOILER ALERT...SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!....She knows Leonard more than likely killed her boyfriend, so she tricks him into getting Dodd of her ass. Not that unfair, really. And after they sleep together, it does seem like she caught feelings for him a bit. And she helps him find out who Teddy really is. Like she said, they're both survivors.

@mariahleia SPOILER ALERT. Yeah...but the thing that always bugged me about the whole Natalie/Dodd thing: Leonard doesn't kill Dodd, just fucks him up a bit. A guy like Dodd is going to want revenge, and after Leonard kills Teddy and blows town, Dodd's just going to come back and kill Natalie anyway. Maybe it bought her some time, but it definitely didn't solve the Dodd problem.

@KneelB4ZOD94 Yes. That was done purposely. It's hinting to the audience that Lenny is actually Sammy. Lenny is the one who killed his wife the way Sammy did by injecting her too much. If you don't understand anything ask me. I know this film inside out I can explain it to you if you want.

@batmanjokertwoface According to the online marketing, Lenny himself was in an institution for a while after his wife's death, so it could also indicate that. Whether that is "canon" is never confirmed in the movie itself, however.
