  • Well according to Michelle taller the astronomer that galaxy is almost complete swallowed by the milky way, also: we have 2 small satellite galaxies the Magellanic clouds

  • For all you people that think the Andromeda galaxy is the closest galaxy to us are terribly misinformed. The closest galaxy is Canis Major Dwarf galaxy which is located in our galaxy (milky way).

  • Life on IC 1011 is highly unlikely because the white core of the galaxy is believed to give of radiation that is harmful to living organisms that we are aware of. Anyways, we can't go there because it is REALLY far away.

  • @legoreviwers I haven't been able to find any information on that, willing to provide evidence with your claim so I may see?

  • Why cant I have been born in a time where we could fly to all these other places :(

  • I LOVE ASTRONOMY

  • The truth is that nobody knows...

  • ahahaha 60 times/????? thats more like 10 million times bgger if u look at it

  • Science is god there i settled it

  • Some day i'll be there

  • i think aliens live there

  • ya, god is real.

  • IC 1011 exists. But it is smaller than pinwheel galaxy. IC 1101 is VERY big. 6 million ly. It is the largest galaxy discovered.

  • That tiny, possibly subatomic, singularity that POPPED at the Big Bang came from somewhere. God? If not God then it still came from somewhere. Physics demands a "first cause", but that's impossible without someone or something that exists out of the realm of time. Thomas Aquinas gives a pretty convincing case for God, and if not God then something just as mysterious and fantastic. Nothing in Science conflicts with the Bible and we should all marvel together at this wonderful mystery...

  • @randy95023 Two dimensions collided and created a new dimension with three physical properties, one time property, and gravitic diffusion from a dimension nearby theoretically imparted to our dimension from an outside area (There are 11 dimensions total, but the rest are folded up so small we don't notice them). We're working on figuring out Gravity, whether it's imparted by particles or an effect caused by Space-Time distortion bringing our plane closer to the Gravity Dimension.

  • @BigYeti Well......Theoretically.

  • If religious people are always accusing atheists of being narrow minded, why do they insist of narrowing down our point of view by debunking everything we say on every scientific video. This video not once mentions god, heaven, divine beings etc... and yet we have discussions about evolution, creationism, DNA in asteroids and proof that there is no god. Whatever happened to relative arguments?

  • 6 million?! So this galaxy's diameter is more than the distance of Andromeda from us?!

  • @mmw818s dayum....good catch, thats insane

  • IC 1011?

IC 1101? Are they two different galaxies, both 6 million lighyears across?

  • @aboyborninjune They're a "bit" different.

  • What documentary is this? I want to see it!

  • Will you tossers stop talking wank about religion its all bollocks, this is an awe inspiring video about the size of huge galaxies that have been discovered enjoy it for what it is.

  • Revolving conversation you got going there. I believe in God, but if you don't, sucks for you.

  • love this. But I gotta ask Youtube Suggestions: What the hell does Lonely Island's 3-Way have to do with this?

  • "How the Universe Works " is in Netflix streaming right now and it is badass. Great dinnertime watching with my wife. Was bummed it's only eight episodes.

  • stfu with religious bullshit

  • : O

  • maybe all the jedis are in IC1011....

  • @punnkypo wake up to reality.

  • @jackinthebox995 why dont you go touch yourself!!

  • @punnkypo I'll let you do it for me.

  • AND WHERE GONNA GET RIPPED A PART FROM AMDROMADA..... 0.O

  • what ever its just proves the god power

........god create the time so he control the time and the time never control god

........also create the size so all that galaxy size is nothing to god power

.......anyway if there is another clever lives in another galaxy its useless cos we never reach them and they never reach us .milions of light years ...never

  • @gameer5 Never underrestimate technology. Technology has always taken leaps forward at certain steps in evolution that we never could have anticipated or only theoriesed/imagined. After all, thats why we have science, to disprove all theories until they are proven true.

  • @hajkie tech is just an extension of nature, and mostly used for negative purposes sadly, all we need is inside of us and science is limited by our brain and other things, what is science? It's just a word, a word used to describe the research into things that we don't know yet, it's not some kind of a certain "thing"... If science was actually researched in alternative ways too and used for positive purposes and not held under the cover in some ways then we could all benefit indeed. tech is meh

  • @UniversEEEEE It's sad when its used for negative purposes, i agree. Unfortunally, as long as humans think that, to survive, they need to care only about themself, and not anyone else, things like that will keep happening. Thats not to say everyone does it though, theres plenty of people who, with no interest in gaining anything. except for progress in certain areas of the things they study too.

  • @gameer5 Never say never. Don't forget there could be a possibility of warping to different locations of the Universe. As well, with worm wholes.

  • @gameer5 Apparently this "god" created you without a brain lol there's no scientific evidence for god's existence...

  • @jkadvices Biggest we know off! Remember, its an amazing distance to places out there, so we have a hard time to gauge the size of the galaxies that are far far away.

  • @hajkie Its impossible because if a star becomes too massive it collapses into a black hole.

  • @zzzIdividedbyzerozzz mhm! It would be CRUUUUSHED! >=)

  • @hajkie into oblivion

  • wait so planets in that galaxy could be bigger than our whole galaxy jesussssssssss

  • @xJROIDx No, thats impossible, not even stars are that big. :P

  • @hajkie :)

  • srsly that lil "compare stars" button ruins the whole video, it takes ur attention away from the magnitude and the magic that brought me to the video. can u put it in another place or at another time plz?

  • @braceforimpact09 Turn off the annotations.

  • inb4 "Universe Size Comparison"

    or something like it.

  • Thanks for the upload - love stuff like this!

  • And I am still running out of room on my hard drive.

  • I should send this video to the next person who thinks their the center of the galaxy due to their massive egos.

  • If there are other intelligent life forms in our Universe, I bet the most sophisticated and intelligent of them all are somewhere in the IC1011 galaxy. It's like the New York City of the cozmos.

  • God disliked this because he was sucked in a black hole.

  • The size of things in the universe is mind boggling

  • the bible was sooo wrong!

  • imagine being in a star system, not in a galaxy, but just out in the universe, between 2 galaxies. That would suck.

  • @hajkie Yeah, being anything in intergalactic space, I would imagine, being pretty shitty.

  • I can visualize cosmic sizes. Is something wrong with me?

  • I'm gonna go smoke a joint because this is just too much right now.

  • @nvlptl Lmao! I tip my hat for you, good sir, for you are both a gentleman and a scholar.

  • Well if NASA wasn't sitting on their arse for the last 30 years, we might have people exploring the galaxy right about now.

Until then, I'll wait for mass effect 3.

  • What television series is this?

  • HOLY FUCK

  • theloneskittle2

Bring it on, gonna be such a game

  • We now know, the universe is nearly 500 miles long and it contains, you're not gonna believe this - over one thousand stars!

  • they forgot about the largest galaxy ever discovered.... Chuck Norris Galaxy.

  • Comment removed

  • meh... i've seen bigger galaxies

  • massive!

  • (Head Explodes)

  • D:

  • Show = How the Universe Works.

  • @AirC0489 i looked on all Discovery channels in Youtube and didn't find this, thanks for uploading!

  • There has to be other life in those galaxies.

  • Agree with other people asking... Seriously, what show is this from? Why would you steal content and not even make a reference to the original source for those of us interested in watching the whole thing?

  • @bskok82 I have added the shows name in the description. This clip was taken from the show 'How The Universe works'. I should have done this initially, I honestly didn’t think it would have been that popular. Thanks for the advice. Constructive feedback is always appreciated.

  • @AirC0489 - Thanks man, very much appreciated.

  • What show is this from?

  • So not only we live in a tiny planet, but also in a tiny galaxy T.T

  • @Niikoru Actually, our galaxy is massive compared to most.

  • @DrVelvetProductions Oh, really?;

Uhhhhh... I didn't expect that, ....sorry

  • I barely can imagine the big of our sun, so that`s not for me.

  • hmm.... we will be in deep shit if those galaxies starts to think abt conquering the milky way

  • How the bloody hell are you supposed to travel to them. My theory is you have to be dead to real explore the heavens. You can only explore it in the spiritual form and not in the physical. At least not yet.

  • @u2hubbard that would kick arse, but sadly, we have no way of knowing what happens afte death.. Even if we become nothing, we cannot comprehend nothingness. rerally, try to imagine you don't exist

  • WOW

    milky way,andromeda,M87,and ic1011 i think they're big

  • After i watched the "stars Comparison" i was like OMG there are billions of those just in one galaxy, but when i saw this i got the biggest headache EVER!!! really.

  • Comment removed

  • dude, this is nothing too. you will get a CRRAZZYY headache if i showed you a video. but i cant find it lmao. star comparisons. Galxiy comparisons. Then there is the known universe which is just ....cant even describe it. but after that....there is the actual universe which is a mystery that can only be predicted. if you wanna spend 20mins, watch this. or skip to 6:00. watch?v=CEQouX5U0fc&feature=related basically, all tthses vids are specs of specs of specs of specs of.......

  • @iwillavengeyou Thanks for the link, Im a christian and I disagree with people that says we are alone in the Universe sometimes people say "the bible doesn't say there people out there", but then I reply "But it doesn't say there isn't ether" lol.

  • @Dominic4n yah np, i dont really know what to think.

The universe is so so so so big, its just crazy, there has to be life.

But then again the chances of life is also crazy. 20 amino acids needed for life, then the essential elements, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen etc, planets water content, distant from the star it orbits relative to the size of it, magnetic poles that block the Electromagnetc radiation, atmosphere levels.

i can go on and on its just a question we might never know...

  • @iwillavengeyou Life might not really need water to get dna off the ground. There might be life forms that work in completely other bio chemistry and conditions may be diffirent. Like liquid methane perhaps.

  • @zukodude487987 thats true, very true.

  • @Dominic4n My head actually really started hurting me ... wtf

  • So...what about Texas?

  • Comment removed

  • Those other galaxies probably can't support life like ours can. It's seems to radioactive.

  • @u2hubbard

Do you honestly believe that out of the hundreds of billions of galaxies out there, this one's the only one capable of creating life..?

Just because *we* wouldn't be able to survive high radioactive levels doesn't mean that absolutely no form of life could ever form under those circumstances.

  • @Amsah -Also there isn't high radiation levels on most planets.

And this may seem far fetched but I bet you there are e.t out there, that not only can be habitable in a planet which has high radiation levels but aliens that NEED it to survive.

  • @rgrggfdgfgr

    Exactly..=]

  • @rgrggfdgfgr

Right, theres microbial life on Earth that can live off of pure SULFUR!

  • man, does everything about our home have to be so tiny? does this mean if there is another universe will it be like 4 million times as big as our universe?

  • There's no way we're alone in this universe.

  • Indeed. As Carl Sagan once said; "The universe is a pretty big place. If it's just us, seems like an awful waste of space." …@TheWarbirdPhoenix

  • @TheWarbirdPhoenix AGREED!!! I mean come the "eff on right?! Ok, even if you don't believe in a higher power, mathematically speaking there is simply No way we are alone in this Universe! I'll give you that we MAY be alone in this solar system but definitely NOT in this galaxy...especially since we are in the "Boonies" of our own galaxy!

  • @obsidian00 Lets not forget that while there is only 200 billion or stars in this galaxy, there is trillion upon trillion stars in the IC 1101 galaxy. Like you say, the chances of we being along, in the universe, is astronomicly small. Theres a less chance life would have been created on earth then there is aliens in the universe. =P

  • @hajkie ...it just makes my head hurts...it's too much NOTHINGNESS and EVERY THING at the same time...sweet!

  • @TheWarbirdPhoenix I seriously can't think we are alone in this one. It's quite possible the distances are just too great to communicate.

  • @TheWarbirdPhoenix I forgot to mention this in the last post. How many things actually occur as "one". There is no "one" of anything. I can't see why intelligent life would be any different given billions of Stars in our Galaxy and billions of Galaxies to top that.

  • oh, for fuck sakes, where's the rest of it!?!!?? come on, why is that? tell me! please continue!!!

  • i was watching this a few days ago in the TV

  • @jongmagee , I saw it outside of the tv. ;-)

  • @jaworskij

    saw what???

    theres 3 galaxies shown ;-)

  • Fuck, get on my nuts. Im human! Earth = Universe. just comparing.

  • our galaxy is like a grain of sand compared next to the earth :O

  • @luckiestorm you made no sense compared to earth it's huge you mean the earth is a grain of sand compared to the galaxy

  • IC 1011 is chuck norris's penis

  • @xXgAvInArNoLdXx My thought XD some people think a lot like me.

  • @xXgAvInArNoLdXx never The answer is Universe is Chuck's Testes

  • @xXgAvInArNoLdXx

I HATE CHUCK NORRIS! HE'S A JOKER THAT SUKS!

  • @89990000 NO.

  • @EmberBurn333 You present your opinion as a fact ("Religion is an escape from reality") don't do that. What's in the bible isn't stolen from other religions. But many katholic traditions (unbiblical and thus to little value of you put it to the standard) have been based on already existing traditions to make people get accustomed to their new faith easier.

Jesus Christ died for your terrible sins and allows you to believe in him and accept his sacrafice, or turn His offer down and carry on

  • @ElmerAwesome Provide scientific proof that your god exists...that's right you can't now go spread your bullshit somewhere else :D

  • @IcarusTouma Kinda sad you watched 12 pages of comments just to tell me you I'm talking 'bullshit'... It's so important to you aparently lol

  • @ElmerAwesome You know what's sad? everything you believe in...LOL @ your fairy tales

  • @IcarusTouma Lol @ your atheist arrogance haha

  • @ElmerAwesome Keep believing in unicorns as well, what century do you live in? the 1400's? hahaha

  • @IcarusTouma Who believes in unicorns? Nobody. Who believes in God? Billions upon billions, much more then there are atheistic people.

  • @ElmerAwesome Believing in something doesn't make it a fact. It doesn't matter how many people believe in sky daddy, none of you have scientific evidence regarding his existence..all you have is fairy tales LOL

  • @IcarusTouma You make the same mistake twice. Nobody believes in fairytales, billions of people (much more then atheists) believe in God. If you'd think logically you'd conclude now that theire not the same but I gues you don't want to haha.

  • @ElmerAwesome Again, just because a bunch of people believe in something doesn't make it a fact.

  • @IcarusTouma It makes it completely different from unicorns and fairytales.

  • @ElmerAwesome No it doesn't...neither "god" or unicorns have been proven.

  • @IcarusTouma Nobody believes in unicorns, billions believe in God. If you don't see (or want to see) the difference then I can't help that.

  • @ElmerAwesome Lots of kids believe in Santa Claus, does that make him real? NO....same goes for your "god" just because people believe in him that doesn't make him real...Your stupidity is insulting my intelligence....

  • @IcarusTouma Those are kids. No adult believes in Santa Claus. Billionsof them believe in God. You still don't see the difference between believing in God and fairytales?

  • @ElmerAwesome There is no difference because neither fairy tales nor god are real...and there are adults who believe in unicorns, it doesn't make it a fact that unicorns exist...

  • @IcarusTouma THere are no adults that believe in unicorns. There are billions ofhem, including well-educated ones, that do believe in God.

If you don't 'want to see the differenc then thats your problem. Just because you think God isn't real doesn't give you the right to say that is the truth and all those billions of people are wrong. Or to do something as ridicilious to compare it to fairytales.

  • @ElmerAwesome Then provide scientific evidence that god is real....

Just because millions of people believe in something it doesn't mean it exists, there are adults who believe in unicorns, yeah they're insane just like you religious people. If someone has an imaginary friend, they're crazy, if millions of people have an imaginary friend, it's a religion haha

  • @IcarusTouma So your saying almost all of the world population is crazy exept you and those that share your lifeview? How refreshing...

If you had met and actually talked with anyone over why he/she believes, and said person had a living instead of traditionalist faith, you wouldn't be so easy to judge, and you'd have more respect. But you now sound like somebody who knows nothing a live with God yet still condemns it because he can't see/feel/touch it.

  • @ElmerAwesome "Life view" Religion has nothing to do with life views...Most people are religious because they want easy answers, they might not understand how stars go through nuclear fusion so the simple answer is "god did it". You keep talking about your imaginary friend...can you PROVE he exists?

  • @IcarusTouma ".Most people are religious because they want easy answers"

That's not true. If you know Christianity for example the answer is far from easy. Eighter accept Jesus as your Saviour and have his holy Spirit come and change your life, or be lost. Not an easy answer to life. Infact 'live life be happy' is a much easier answer and thats more common found among non-religious people.

I don't need to prove to you that He exists. You must search him yourself and then you'll find him.

  • @ElmerAwesome That's because you have no proof and god doesn't exist. You keep believing in your fairy tales...how sad...when you get a brain come argue with me...

  • @IcarusTouma Whats because what? That you don't believe? That's because you didn't search Him.

  • @ElmerAwesome How do you know god is real? That's like me saying "You have to look for unicorns" see how ridiculous your beliefs are? Typical religious idiot...

  • @IcarusTouma I think we discussed why there is a difernece between God and unicorns. Should I repeat everything? No people believe in unicorns, billions of people believe in God, and have so done since the dawn of time. There are no religious experiences with unicorns; but a great many people say they have had their lives changed because of how Jesus actively pulled their out of their misery.

I know my God is real because he changed my life from 1 day to another. Search Him you'll get the same

  • @ElmerAwesome Again..millions of people believed the Earth was flat and they were wrong..And then with EVIDENCE they found out that the Earth was spherical...There is no difference between believing in unicorns and god because NEITHER has been scientifically proven...all you have are beliefs and beliefs are not evidence...

  • @IcarusTouma Infact most of the church leaders/scientists in the medievals already knew the earth was round.

There ís a difference because God is real (to the people who believe in HIm) as they have seen noticeble (!) change in their lives. It isn't a dead series of traditions or nice stories or book of rules; it is a spiritual connection which they can sense with their minds and bodies and a change in their inward self.

Just because you don't know that don't pretend it's not there

  • @ElmerAwesome Just like unicorns are real to the people who believe in them..How do you know there aren't any adults who believe in unicorns? They're just as mentally insane as you people who believe in your imaginary friend. you still haven't provided any scientific evidence for his existence, all you say is that you have to believe in him. That is nonsense, no matter how much you believe in something, it doesn't make it a fact...

  • @IcarusTouma Unicorns aren't real because there are no people who believe in them. You and I both know this; your trolling now.

I don't say you have to believe in him to make it a fact (infact I didn't say that at all; your words) things I did say were; people notice/sence a change in their lives, people have a living relationship with God, it's not just a set of rules/stories.

If you actually knew any true Christians and talked with them you wouldn't think as easily over God

  • @ElmerAwesome How do you know there aren't any adults who believe in unicorns? Have you spoken with every person in the world? Tom Cruise believes in an alien lord who came to Earth from another galaxy with airplanes and not only him. several people believe that as well. Does that make them correct? NO, it doesn't matter how much you believe in something, it doesn't make it a fact. You're beyond mentally retarded...

  • @IcarusTouma Because scientology is an established sect but 'unicornism' isn't, again stop trolling. Also again thx for ignoring all my points ;-)

  • @ElmerAwesome You clearly missed the point...My point was just because many people believe in something it doesn't mean they're right. I can believe I'm Napoleon Bonaparte but that doesn't make me so...you fail at arguing...

  • @IcarusTouma It doesn't mean that theire 100% right, but it does make you think. You can't just say "I'm right and the entire non-atheistic world is mentally retarded" which is what your doing now (I can quote). I'm going to ignore your offences because I know you just want me to bite so you can rage.

  • @ElmerAwesome I'm not provoking you, you just seem to misunderstand that just because millions of people believe in their imaginary friend it doesn't mean he exists. You need scientific proof and you have none...

  • @IcarusTouma Again it doesn't mean that theire 100% right, but it does make you think. You can't just say "I'm right and the entire non-atheistic world is mentally retarded" which is what your doing now (I can quote).

Also do you have scientific proof that God didn't create the world? or better said; a scientific alternative? No you dont'. Even Richard Dawkins admitted there is no such alternative. Dawkins btw also believes in aliens.

  • @ElmerAwesome Dawkins believes in aliens because a planet within the habitable zone of a star has been found, meaning there's bound to be liquid water. He has EVIDENCE" for believing in something like that. All of you people HAVE NO EVIDENCE you just believe blindly. We have scientific proof as how planets form in space and your imaginary friend is nowhere to be found.

  • @IcarusTouma Thats nonsence. You and I both know water does not garantuee life. It's the same as saying because the universe has signs that it was created (which Dawkins ALSO admits) it HAS to be created by God. That's exactly the same of saying there is water there HAS to be aliens. It's a 'could be' case but no 'evidence' and certainly no 'fact' that's a true fairytale.

  • @ElmerAwesome Dawkins never admitted that, he said there might be an extraterrestial species that created us. That doesn't mean it was "god"

  • @IcarusTouma He said that was a theory. There are many more atheistic theories on the origin of life but they are all of the same quality (unproven and a 'might, could be' scenario).

"There is bound to be water"; You don't know it! You speculate there shóuld be water. Something else. Also water doesn't link to alien life; that again is speculation.

There ís evidence for intelligent design and men like richard Dawkins actually admit that. Have we ever been killed off by an astereoid?

  • @ElmerAwesome "Atheistic theory"? Umm you seem to misunderstand something. There are no such things as atheistic theory...they're called SCIENTIFIC theories. And a scientific theory has been experimented on and proven. What Dawkins said was not a scientific theory...

No, but there has been mass extinctions many times -one with the dinosaurs. And evidence for intelligent design? Sorry but Neil deGrasse Tyson DESTROYS intelligent design watch: watch?v=ISg6j7BF02Q
