hello, got a question,, i used the nikon cls system and i have the option (via cls) to do ttl or manuel, i like manuel, since i can power up or down on the flash power,, can i still do that with radio poppers or is it strickly on ttl thing? thanks
These don't "detected " the "radio signal" from the camera. There is no radio signal from the camera. The unit receives the pre-flash signals from the camera or master flash and converts this to radio. The receiver then converts this back to IR. This is the reason you need to pop the flash up and also the reason you can move a few inches from the camera.
Nice write up of the units. I still use Skyports but am looking for ETTL units for my 7D setup. One day soon, these may arrive in a box!

@eggrollboy
I understand what you are saying completely, however you are wrong unfortunately.
The signal from the commander mode is IR LIGHT and not RADIO as originally suggested. They are entirely different for this case.
The IR LIGHT system will not fire the flash without reasonable line of sight.
The RADIO system will fire through walls to an extent.
The two are totally different systems. Canon and Nikon (probably more) are currently using IR LIGHT to send commands and not radio.

@PIXscotland - The Nikon D300 has a internal commander mode which does send out IR signals to its slaves.
I am stoked for the RadioPoppers as my Pocket Wizards have been giving me trouble a lot!
