but i'd rather have this in my house than some weird-colored planet with pyramids, rocky mountains, and lakes on it. and they are all very similar with very few techniques other than magazine rocks, pyramids, circles for planets and scraping to highlight

There is a lot of tosh being talked about here. It is the end result that counts not how you get there. If the end result is good and it sells then great. Most artists paint to sell.

Using stencils is REAL spray painting. All that space painting stuff is BARELY art. It's mostly tricks done over and over again in a few different places. It takes them four minutes to make something that people marvel over whereas this guy making these stencils took hours, maybe days. It's a lot more difficult and your versatility is endless.

Don't EVER talk down on stencils.

What the fuck are you taking about? Art isnt about whether its stencils or not, its about expression and can come in many forms. Plus, the freehand space paintings isn't as easy as it looks. With stencils, the actual painting part doesnt require much skill, but the stencil cuttin does

Its cool and all but I think the way you made it sucks you brely sprady any thing then put a bliding cut out over it and sprayed more I also do it but I nothing like that the only cut out I use is a out out paper for a magazine to help blend

i pretty sure it both. he took a picture from magazine or camera whatever , then put it on photoshop> then filter > effects, simple , and then cut the stencils .. it matter of layering.

I wish I had photoshop. I have a mac so its impossible to edit any of my pictures to do that. I just print out my pictures then eye ball the different colors and regions.

I actually think these show your skill more than the space stuff. What's up with people thinking that stencils require no work just spraying? Stencils are like super hard to get right and exactly how you want them to be.
