Oh, the "cows make milk for their babies, not humans" is pure ignorance. Dairy cows have been selectively bred for countless generations to produce far more milk than their calves could ever consume. Even if you leave the calf on, the cow *HAS* to be milked.

Milk isn't evil. Cruel industrial animal handling and pasteurization/homogenization is.

Myself I dont approve of PETA but as a hunter, trapper and small time farmer I hate to see any animal suffer a painful death. It absoultly kills me to see an animal I've shot not die immediately. And I always show respect for an animal ive killed and ensure its death was not in vain by not letting its meat or hide go to waste. @kailakawaii - Humans do not need cow's milk... It is meant for their calves. There are much better ways to get nutrition from plant based milks. ALL dairies separate the mothers from the babies so the babies don't take their mother's milk. ALL dairies find the boy calves relatively "worthless" and slaughter the males at very young ages. Full of calcium , protein and the right fats. Of course all dairy farms remove the calf from its mother and then use them for veal . Outside of the mass produced bullshit we find in the supermarket (Lucerne and Shamrock), there are dairy farms that produce milk seasonally which follows the natural biological cycle for the cows. I dont think there is anything wrong with humans drinking milk or eating eggs, the problem stems from greed. That is, unfortunately, an issue that is extremely difficult (if not impossible) to stop.

Milk cows are bread for milking. Their calfs are already weened or ready to be sold for veal when they are taken away.

PETA euthanizes animals, this is no secret, and so do 4,000 U.S. taxpayer-funded shelters, who kill 9.6 million animals a year, 27,473 every day.

The difference, however, is that PETA doesn't sell abandoned animals surrendered to them to testing labs to be used as research tools, nor do they sell animals to rendering plants where they are ground up into meat by-product and fed to livestock.

PETA is NOT a shelter; however, PETA will and DOES provide FREE HUMANE euthanasia to old, fatally injured, terminally ill animals whose guardians cannot afford to pay for vet euthanasia service for their companion animal, who, if not but for PETA, would otherwise wind up in a taxpayer-funded shelter's gas chamber.

If PETA "didn't want us to know" that they euthanize animals, then surely Ms. Newkirk would not speak openly about it, but the fact is that she does.
