  • Nice coop and nice hens

I will make a video of mine in febuary when i get my camera.

  • Really nice pen! :)

  • ccoolls dn

  • do weasels kill hens ?

  • astralaps, lol btw its australorp ;)

  • Wow I'm impressed, who knew 14 hens could fit in that cage, and they were ALRIGHT. :)

    i love the cooop design.

  • In the one video it apparently was winter, what did you put on the walls to cover up the chicken wire?

  • the ones that are out of the crate is sinomon queen or what you said but i have some of my own that are the best layers and thar are very very good with coping to any new coop thay might not lay for the first day or so but in a max 3 days have fun with you new chickens . :)

  • are the black hens not black rock hens ? i have one and looks just like mine :)

  • please help how can i prevent prolapse on warrens and one of my buff chicks has a worm in his throat any tips? please help D:

  • @mattz456 We really don't know anything about these issues. If the health issues are caused by parasites poke berries that grow wild can help. If that is not available chickens can be given diatomaceous earth in their food. If you google it there are helpful sites to say the proper dosage. I hope this helps.

  • @pocketsofthefuture ok thanks anyway :]

  • how long does it take for a chick to become fully feathered?

  • Not to sound mean, but I would advise culling "Sweet Annie" before she teaches the other hens to peck their eggs. I made that mistake once, soon the whole flock was eating eggs despite being provided with oster shell for calcium. I had to replace all my hens. Now, on the off chance that a hen learns to peck eggs, I cull her quickly before she has the whole flock doing it.

  • Audio needs to be better.

  • i like the video

i have small new bantam hens (nearly babirs compared to my other hens)

and i want to put them into the cage with the bigger chickens, which consists of a hen and rooster that are full sized. they peck the poor bantam hens in the head. i am afraid they will kill the new babies. WHAT DO I DO?

  • @DuctTapeWalletz You will probably have to keep them separated. With such a big difference in size, they may always treat the bantams that way.

  • @DuctTapeWalletz The guy is wrong. I keep bantams and large fowl HAPPILY together. I don't have a cockerel but that will be the down fall of your set up. If you wish to have them all together then the cockerel will have to go. But if you can have them separate and want to keep the cockerel then that is your choice.

  • @DuctTapeWalletz Oh and a short peck on the head is just sorting out the pecking order the only thing you have to worry is the cockerel trying to mate with the bantams they will not be able to hold the weight.

  • Very interesting! Thank you!

  • where did u get the hens at?

  • those black ones are balck australorps

  • lol ur dogs like, "hmmm more? lets see the minute one steps outside i got breakfast!"

  • cool

  • nice coop. Why don't you paint the plywood doors with that barn paint you get at Home Depot or Walmart to prevent from warping. You don't even have to primer it, just paint and go.

  • when do roosters start to furtilize eggs and can they furtilize eggs in the summer not just spring time

    PS:please help me please

  • @starwars55100 They can and do fertilize any and all the time.

  • @pocketsofthefuture thank you very much

  • @starwars55100 well my roo raps my hens every day

  • The white hen's i'm sure are called decalamber's and the red one's you bought look's like highline's which are the best for having as layer's

  • The white hen's i am sure are called Decalabmers. The red one's look's like highline's

  • the buffs are also ones that can go broody...which is good if you want to raise some chicks to replace ones that die or become ill..Like your coop....

  • I have had chickens 20 years ever since i was a young boy you have very beautiful girls the black ones are Black Astralorps i have around 20 of them the red stars as im sure you have seen by now are very good layers total i have 450 hens of about 20 different breeds your set up is perfect i actually use large dog kennels with portable garages over the top and the nest boxes hook right to the chain link i would take the time to build everything but with so many need to save money great job!

  • Thank you for your supportive comment.

  • I just posted a long 40 part series called roosters, broody hens and chicks.

  • Thanks.

  • We have since covered the sides with straw and motar

  • lol, miss tail feathers

  • thats a fantastic pen you've made there :)

  • Thanks. We are going to make an how to ebook on it soon.

  • were u scared when u first touched a chicken?

  • this is my first year having chickens. I have a big mix..... 6 silkies, 1 barred rock, 2 white rocks, 5 new hampshire reds, 2 gold laced wyandottes, 2 buff laced polish, 1 old english bantam & 1 belgian bearded d'uccle. some are for eggs & some are for show. I love chickens! Have always been fascinated by them.

  • Those black hens are called Australorps. It's amazing you said that they were "pecking eggs" because one of those that I had was also an egg eater. It must be a negative genetic trait of the breed. It is a shame because they are a docile, quiet breed.

  • We just got roosters and one is half Australorp. We breed him with the re stars and we have 2 black pullets one is a hen. We will be posting videos on them soon. We hope to move into buckeyes, Dominiques and more buffs.

  • Chickens are far superior compared to humans.

  • I have 1 Buff Orp..her name is Bloondie! I got another 4, all my hens are different race.

  • their is no rooster

  • I'd recommend just getting plain Rhode Island Red hens. Leghorn hens are smaller so I wouldn't suggest crosses. I get RIR because they are very winter hardy and they have great egg production too, over 300 a year.

  • Nice Coop. Im building one of my own as well. Any suggestions for my coop?

  • Thank you for all of your comments. There are a lot of designs for hen houses and main thing is you want to keep predators out. You can also google 'chicken tractors' which you move around the yard or pasture so the hens can graze. We usually bring the hens in with feed at night but they eventually come in on their own.

  • Okay Thank You

  • hey nice chickens and coop. i hav chickens my self hav a new breed called golden reds. there a rhode island red hen mixed with a leghorn rooster. talk about a big bird!!! they lay 300 eggs a year and the egss are huge!!!!! u can only by them at (rieches farm) idk if u no them. but if u do i highly recomend them for egg production. i hav 18 and i get 20 eggs in to days no joke.

  • thank for the tip. We are about to order some chicks and we defiantly want to boost egg production so those hens sound great.

  • Do they have a website?

  • no. but i hav the number that ill give wen i find the the brochure ill giv it to by like tomorrow maybe sooner

  • Hi, I really enjoyed watching your vid. I just purchased 3 baby hens with plans to consume eggs. I got this idea from my father in law because he himself has hens that lay eggs. I locked onto the idea because I like fresh. I presently have the 3 hens in a cage ...5'X3'X3'. how much of an area do I need to pen off for the 3 @ full size oh and 1 duck? Is hay what you use for the floor?

  • Thank you for your comment. We use straw but you can use wood chips or other substrates. I do not know what size pen you need you want something that is predator safe. You might want to google 'chicken tractors' which can be built easily and you can move them around a yard so the hens can eat bugs, seeds and grass.

  • i hav ducks and put this in to consideration. 1 chicken needs 1 square foot per bird. and a duck needs 10 square foot per bird. so add those together and that hoe bid it needs to be>

  • ah, i see. now i know why you get lots of egg for feeding them with laying hens. do you sell the eggs or you just use it for your daily consumption? Where you do get your hens? Those are a nice breed. i'm planning to do this too with rhode island red. thanks for your reply and videos.

  • wow. you get some eggs without a rooster? or you feed them with laying feeds? great video and a chicken house. Good Job.

  • Thank you for your kind comment. I had also heard that you get more eggs with a rooster but then someone told me that this isn't true. We had 2 roosters for awhile but they were kind of a hassle. We do feed them feed for laying hens. Is there something in the feed that makes them lay more? We had just though that that laying feed had more protein.

  • i have 10 red stars they are very friendly i love them they are 20 weeks old and there laying 6 to 8 eggs a day there awesome

  • It sounds like your getting great egg production. What are you feeding them?

  • table scraps and your basic feed

  • Great design on the hen house! Nice gaggle of Rhode island reds? You're gonna get brown eggs!

lots and lots of brown eggs!!!LOL!

  • The new hens are called Red Star which I think are a new breed. Unfortunately, our hens our old and the egg prodcution is greatly reduced. We will get chicks or pullets in the spring.

  • That was a very nice video to watch, this world could be amazing if everybody loved nature and animals like you do :)

  • Thank you for your kinds comment.
