  • In addition, if a spoiler on "Crosswords" is locked out, they had two ways to get back in the game; if someone else spoiled or all 3 spoilers were locked out.

  • I compare "Crosswords" to "Double Dare" because of the spoilers.

  • But the spoilers on DD are all PhD's...the ones on this show are just regular schmucks, haha

  • when a spoiler on "Double Dare" gives a wrong answer, you got $100 for each time that happened. If the spoiler got the right answer, they won $100 and got to hear the rest of the round. When a spoiler on "Crosswords" gives the right answer, sometimes they had a choice, sometimes they didn't when it comes to podium choosing. But the spoiler takes the money with them depending on which podium they choose. When a "Crosswords" spoiler gives a wrong answer, they are locked out for the time being.

  • The show sucks..

  • The video game has higher stakes than this show ($25K and a trip for a Bonus Round win).

  • Merv Griffin was working on a couple of episodes before he died of prostate cancer at the age of 82.

  • If you live in the Piedmont Triad/Central North Carolina area, this show airs on WXLV 45 weekday mornings at 9:00.

  • Actually, it's on at 9:30 on 45. "Temptation" airs at 9AM. I grew up in the Triad BTW, but now live in FL. Also, 45 used to be a cheesy independent then it became FOX now it's ABC...WGHP used to be ABC now it's FOX8.

  • Oh sorry, my mistake.

  • Ahh, no sweats...besides, Crosswords is probably MUCH better than Temptation anyway. ;-)

  • the host is damn hot!

  • WDIV in Detroit airs crosswords twice also. Detroit was one of several markets to air crosswords twice a day.

  • I was wrong Extra! airs at 2:30 pm on WDIV.

  • You know, parts of Southern California (except San Diego) would run "Merv Griffin's Crosswords" at 3:00 PM & 3:30 PM on KNBC-TV.

  • I really like Merv Griffin's Crosswords. Ty Treadway is a good host. And the play along factor is wonderful I can see Crosswords having a season 2.

  • that show reminds me of crosswits

  • Me too. I vaguely remember CrossWits, from the late 70's I think. I better remember Scrabble, which ran on NBC daytime in the 80's when game shows ruled the roost in daytime not a bunch of talk shows and other fluff.

  • I saw the ratings and they're not good. 1.0/3? You gotta be kidding me. I thought this was going to be the next best game show on TV. To be honest, I can't understand how you could hate a show like this. Hmmm... I wonder if the passing of Merv Griffin might have to do with the bad ratings.

  • Uh Adam, you can't really judge the show on just the FIRST airing. Let's hope word of mouth spreads about the show and may do very well, we'll see. Just don't rush to judgment.

  • I watched the first couple of episodes and it seems okay...not stellar I'll admit, but I'm afraid it may not end up doing so well since it doesn't appear to air in some markets. I get it, but it hasn't been cleared in some other parts of the country that I know of...that may not be a good sign.

  • I like the new show. The show is aired at 2PM on WTIC in Hartford, CT. I wish that either WWLP, WGGB, WSHM, or WBQT would pick this show up for the Springfield, MA area.

  • You know what? If you're living in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, "Merv Griffin's Crosswords" are on twice a day at 2.00p and 2.30p on KXAS-TV, NBC 5.

  • Airs twice here in the Bay State, TOO!

The show is, awesome by the way! This is the next game show Phenomenon, I hope!

  • i don't know about this.

  • Well, here in Los Angeles, "Merv Griffin's Crosswords" is on at 3:00 PM & 3:30 PM on KNBC-TV

  • I can't wait for this!

  • Same here. I get WTVJ and am looking forward to seeing the show; I better get my DVR ready since I work late days LOL

  • With Merv gone, I think his name should be in the title in honor of him, and I know Wheel is going to be different, not just about Merv, but also its appearance for the 25th syndicated season.

  • That Set looks Beautiful.

  • Even 1/10 as successful would be good.

  • I hope Merv's last project is as successful as Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune.

  • I agree.

  • The sad thing is that Merv Griffin won't live to see it air this fall. As you all know, he died today in Los Angeles from prostate cancer at the age of 82. He will be sadly missed.

  • I wonder where I can find out what stations will air this show.

  • Never mind, I looked ahead on zap2it. NBC Boston will air this too. I can't wait

  • Merv Griffin Has died On Sunday August 12, 2007.

  • This looks cool! Can't wait for September to watch it. Say, you know if you type in "alleydinally" or "tomarken4206" in the search box, you'll find some more game show related vids?

  • Glad to hear Charlie Van Dyke doing the VO. But I need to know what time Crosswords will be on on WPMI in Mobile.

  • The onair announcer will be Edd Hall - FYI.

  • I think jwgreek meant that WTVJ's on-air announcer is Van Dyke, not the announcer for the Crosswords show. I've heard Van Dyke's voice on not only 'TVJ but also on several stations such as WAVY, WNCT, WTVD, WFMY, etc. when I lived in NC.

  • IIRC, he was also voicing for KTVU and KSBW as well.

Speaking of "Merv Griffin's Crosswords" and KTVU, that station airs that show at 12:30 PM Pacific Time this season in my market. (Before that, it aired at 2:30 PM on KNTV, which, earlier, aired it back-to-back at 4:00 PM and 4:30 PM)

  • At least you have a chance to still watch the show if you wish...WTVJ dropped it, as did many other stations. A few, as I guess KTVU is among them, are airing some "Best of X-words" shows that were shown already (though I read a few eps. in the best-of package were never aired last season).
