  • its a known fac that lincoln loved mayonnaise lmao

  • they were beautiful

  • In the book, "Tony & Me" by Jack Klugman, he says this was his all-ime favorite episode...

  • "Great clues? If Charlie Chan had these clues he'd be running a laundry."

  • "oh boy, what a gyp!". LOL! I grew up on this show. Tv is not the same any more :-(

  • Odd Couple @ 11pm, Honeymooners @ 1130pm and Three Stooges @ Midnight on WPIX channel 11! Forever Classic!!!

  • @TheConcierge813 HECK YEAH...and the Yule Log!!!

  • What amazing comedic timing! What a likable couple of guys. Genius! I could watch this forever.

Btw a tribute to heehaw this weekend reminded me of Roy Clark playing guitar on the odd couple. Great clip on you tube.

  • [confident smirk]...."Graphite"

    Oh, man, that is priceless.

  • One of the classics, along with F troop, Get Smart and All In The Family. I've been watching this show for over 30 years and have seen every episode countless times...and they're still hilarious!!!

  • Aristophanes! rofl

  • I loved Aristophanes!! My dad and I still laugh about that one, and graphite, and pits in my juice, and the song in the carribean "Oscar Oscar Oscar, and the JP Morgan song that she stole from Felix....happy and peppy and bursting w/love. Ah,the memories!

  • @Hermione4 It's Calypso, not Carribean. I just watched it - twice! sooooo funny.

  • WHO ARE THE 4 MORONS THAT VOTED DISLIKE?

  • One of the most underrated citcoms of all time. I grew up on the Odd Couple. I loved how the Odd Couple always incorporated current celebrities into the show.

  • Sorry Recordman, but YOU are. You spelled the word "dumb" correctly, but placed the quote mark INSIDE the period instead of outside. Now, WHO'S the dumb one? "LOL" right back at YOU, hon. (If you insist on publicly correcting someone else's writing, first make sure you're correct yourself!) Nice try.

  • I loved this game show as a kid!!! And those two are hilarious, one of the best comedy duos EVER.

  • @AdamKlugman What a classic..nothing like Jack Klugman and Tony Randall, still makes me laugh till this day. "12 Angry Men" is one of my favorite films and there too, just pure perfection. Your Grandfather is a legend, how cool is that?

  • anyone who could equally do drama and comedy as well as jack klugman is great

  • I would always look at Jack Klugman in the Twilight Zone and see hima s serious actor. I never knew he was in this show until now.

  • Aristophonise????????

  • its a known fact Lincoln loved mayonnaise LMAO

  • Portraits a specialty!

  • love betty white

  • Funniest show ever on television -- Klugman and Randall were perfect!

  • Asian ladies for dating # lushfmlk.info #

  • "If Charlie Chan had these clues, he's be running a laundry!" LOL

  • Quincy!!!!

  • He said "What a jip! ! !"

    Hahahaha ! ! !

That's so New York back in the 1970's. Every kid said that when they felt cheated.

Great episode. Thanks for the upload.

  • Portraits a specialty

  • I love it. Great ending. (What a jip -- LOL). I was laffing the whole time. Its very hard not to laff. I enjoyed this very very much. Thank you. Love you Tony and Jack. You are the best.

  • @renrod001 A "jip" is New York lingo for "I just got cheated".

All the kids in New York say that word, especially back in the 1970's.

Like when you go to Coney Island and pay for a ride but then it stops too early due to "technical difficulties" and you have to leave. You've just been jipped.

  • @vassephardi I wonder if it comes from the word Gypsie? A lot of people thought Gypsies were out to get them with scams like certain card games and other scams! Just wondering.

  • Comment removed

  • @early60srcool Holy crap ! ! !

I never thought of that. We just use that word here in Brooklyn forever. But now I tried finding the definition online & came across "gyp" meaning thievery. & Gypsies are masters at that.

"I just got jipped" probably means "I just got gypsied" (robbed in a scam). Jipped is also used when you lose your quarter at a video game when the machine messes up & eats your quarter. You tell the store owner "The machine just jipped me". He'll understand.

    Thanks for your post.

  • lmaovery funny scene crackedup!

  • Best episode from the greatest sitcom ever!

  • I cracked up over the tie straightening!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Probably the best half-hour American sitcom of all time.......definitely the best of the 70s shows. And yes, I've considered All In The Family, Good Times, MASH, Soap, Newhart, etc....Nobody could tell a story like Klugman & Randall....geniuses.....they were made for each other.....and an incredibly talented supporting cast like Eleanor Donohue, Molinaro, Penny Marshall, Jerry Paris Directing. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

  • lincoln?

  • Love this show! One of the best of all time! The chemistry between the two of them was surperb! I don't know which one was better!

  • I love it! Thanks sooo much for posting this. * * * By the way, does anyone by any chance know which episode has the famous " ohwa tagoo siam (Oh, what a goose I am)" scene between Oscar and Felix?

Many thanks and enjoy this wonderful show - they just don't write 'em like they used to!

  • @chettmansberger its called "The Exorcists" Episode number 82 with Victor Buono (King Tut from the old Batman series) as the guy who tries to get rid of the evil spirits. He also played the Apt manager in another episode.

  • @luckychucky7777

    Many thanks!

  • @luckychucky7777 "The Rent Strike" was the other episode (Season 5).

  • FELIX UNGER: "ARISTOPHANES", MITZI: "THIS IS THE DAWNING OF THE AGE OF AQUARIUM" GREAT TV. GREAT TV. GREAT TV.

  • thank you oscar

  • remember the days when on channel 11 it was odd couple at 11 and honeymooners at 11:30 ,was great

  • @kpt421 Yes, of course I remember. Channel 11 was quite a super station.

  • @kpt421 Oh yeah. My favorite time of the day. So comforting. Now we're bombarded by inane "Poker after Midnite" shows.

  • @kpt421 Are you a fellow NYer? I remember channel 11!!!

  • @kpt421 Those were the best times of my life. So glad to have grown up in that era. Even as a child I knew what great tv was.

  • @tanquantwal Im a child and I know what great tv is...and was. XD

  • The original "Laverne and Shirley" and "Perfect Strangers"...... ARISTOPHANES????

  • Still funny as it was then! Felix and his obscure references ("it's a known fact Lincoln loved mayonnaise") were hilarious. Oscar always got great lines ("if Charlie Chan had these clues he'd be running a Chinese laundry!")

Felix was so cute bouncing up and down in his chair when he got the answers right. LOL!

  • Best sitcom ever (IMHO).

  • Haha Im playing Oscar in a school play.

  • graphite! lol!

  • Laughed as much as I did when first watched! TV totally rots today.

  • Note that Tony Randall flubs and says "Thank you Oscar.. uh... Allen"

  • Lincoln!!!!

  • Still one of my all-time favorite TV shows. I can remember laughing until almost passing out while watching this show.

  • lol I like the way Felix bounces in his chair when he gets the right answer. lol

  • LOL what a classsic

  • oscar to murray- "i'd break your nose but i only have two hands."

  • SHIT AUDIO

  • "It's a known fact that Lincoln loved mayonnaise". lol

    This show is still funny.

  • This was my FAVORITE episode of The Odd Couple, especially when he gives the clue "aristophanes" for "BIRD"

  • Comment removed

  • @mavivirgie I know...you can't have everything, right? LOL.

  • @americangalbasseyfan i have it on dvd with great sound

  • yes, I have rented Odd Couple dvds by way of NetFlix. Hilarious.

  • I used to think Felix and Oscar were ripoffs of Ernie and Bert until I found out that the play and the movie both preceded "Sesame Street" and realized who the ripoff was, like the Flintstones were a ripoff of the Honeymooners. And I'm still not convinced Oscar the Grouch wasn't named for Oscar Madisoy. I mean, Madisox. I mean, Madison.

  • @UncleMikeNJ "If you'd have been Chinese, you would've won!"

  • @UncleMikeNJ, The Flintstones were a combination of The Honeymooners & I love Lucy. Many of the Flintstones episodes had elements of both of those shows!!!

  • Does anyone else wonder how much of an inspiration Felix was for David Hyde Pierce's Niles Crane

  • @Shular67 So is Sheldon from "Big Bang Theory".

  • @Shular67 Yes, always thought that.

  • @Shular67 YEAHH!!! Ive thot that that sooo much as I started watching this show (like a week ago xD). I LOVE both Felix and Niles..and I see some Frasier in Felix too.. Come to think of it, the two shows r very similar :D!!

  • It's spelled "dumb". Now, who's the dumb one? LOL

  • Comment removed

  • why do u think im giving u these great clues?!!!? -- Gold!

  • Thank you for posting this. There is an Odd Couple Group nad a web site about it too. This used to be from Parmount Gulf Western and Paramount Television. I liek the logo that used to be at the end of this.

  • this is so funny

    loved the odd couple

  • the guy who plays oscar, jack klugman, is my grandpa!!!!! lol!!!

  • wow that sso cool. HAHAHAA yer friends must be so envious

  • Comment removed

  • we'll i loved him dearly im one of his best fans followed him for years,& still watch him

  • OMG, You have to help me..When felix almost falls off the chair when he goes in Stienburgs show (sings little orphan annie) was that staged or not..I've been trying to get this answe for years..Your Grandpa rules!!!

  • i grew up watching him ....quincy too.....great guy.....and felix is a pisces, like me....! is he Jewish...? felix is

  • Your Grandpa had an amazing career. I hope you appreciate it.

  • @LazlosPlane what freakin moron !

  • does that mean brett somers is your grandma?

  • Tell me something Mr. Klugman, how long was it since he lost his throat? It sucks that he lost his true voice, but at least he is still alive. Unfortuanately, Tony Randall is not, RIP.

  • @AdamKlugman Your granfather is a wonderful actor. My mom has the Odd Couple episodes and I have the Fugitive from 1963 to 1967

  • @AdamKlugman

Wasn't your dad in one of the Odd Couple episodes, playing young Oscar?

  • @AdamKlugman You should be proud! Jack Klugman is one of my favorites. I grew up watching The Odd Couple. It is STILL my favorite show. Growing up in New york, this show was extra special!! Jack, you are so very loved. Thank you for all the laughs you have given me!!

  • @BaronBlonde My sentiments, exactly.

  • @AdamKlugman Adam how is your Grandfather doing now a days??

  • @AdamKlugman I would like to ask a few questions about your grandfather and Tony Randall, if you don't mind! Were they really good friends off-camera? Were there any bad vibes between each other? I personally hope not, but if you can answer them, I'd surely be grateful.

  • @AdamKlugman I'VE heard in reality Jack was the clean one and Tony was the dirty one?

  • @AdamKlugman That's very cool Adam. I actually met your grandpop down in Phoenix AZ in the 90's when he and Tony Randall performed the Odd Couple live. It was a highlight of mine. Didn't have many good memories with my pop growing up but we always laughed together when we'd watch these episodes. Your grandpop actually inspired me to get involved in acting. Give him my best.

  • @AdamKlugman

If that's the truth, know your grandpa gave me many hours of entertainment! He rules.

  • @AdamKlugman YOUR GRAND FATHER IS A NEW YORK LEGIOND AND A GREAT ACTOR.

  • @AdamKlugman What a great guy to have for a grandpa!

  • @AdamKlugman How cool is that!? Lucky you! Please hug him for all of us.

  • @AdamKlugman GAWDDD!!!!! Then, ur a young person like me??!! :3

  • Did I hear Felix thank Oscar when he received the password from Allen?

  • @ jhnesunshine, Oh yeah I remember catching that when the show was on ABC Friday nights in the late 60's or early 70's I think the Brady Bunch, The Odd Couple, and Love American Style were on that night as well.

  • it's well known fact that Linoln loved mayonaisse - even Felix cant keep a straight face!

  • Ironically, in real life Klugman and then-wife Brett Somers appeared on the actual ABC "Password" for a week in October 1973. One of the episodes has survived and aired occasionally on GSN.

  • is this on you tube?

  • watch?v=DOW9elO_lkc (Part 1)

However, Jack and Brett also appeared on the ABC "Password" for the week of Dec. 6-10, 1971. There is now some debate as to whether that "Password" ep was Dec. 7, 1971 or Oct. 23, 1973 - both days of which fell on a Tuesday. Some think it's probably the earlier date - because the pic quality was Norelco PC-70, same as a Feb. 1972 show with Sheila MacRae and Martin Milner.

  • The greatest TV comedy team of all time, period.

  • the tie thing and adjusting the collar had to be unscripted. they worked so well together

  • Thanks for posting such great classic comedy show such as this. My parents used to watch this and my little sister and I liked in in reruns. I also like the song and closing logos.

  • God bless this show and WPIX in NYC in the 70s when The OC was can't miss TV at 7pm!

  • This is an absolute CLASSIC clip from one of the best TV shows ever. When it came to being frustrated with someone, there was NO ONE that was better than Jack Klugman. He and Tony Randall had chemistry that only a handful of comedy duos have had in the history of TV. Great post.

  • The Odd Couple, Barney Miller and the Honeymoners....three great sitcoms based in NYC. I get the sense that the rest of the country did not get a lot of the urban-centric jokes, but these shows were the best of the best!!!

  • Jack Klugman Lives!

  • were kate and alley subtle lesbians?

  • Precious? The Odd Couple.

  • Felix: "why do you think i'm giving you these great clues?"

Oscar:" Great clues? If Charly Chan had these clues, he'd be running a laundry!

    Listen, no more greek clues!"

    Oscar: "Arsitophanes!"

    Felix:" ridiculous?"

  • Hey, can anyone figure out the password here? Whatsthepassword, org

  • Password is one of my favorite episodes! It's so funny and hilarious! They almost won!

  • "Password" is #15 on GSN's "50 Greatest Game Shows of All Time"!

  • This is the best episode.

  • absolutely

  • its still on the air

  • hah! I love that!

  • ahh..how many nights in NJ did i spend watching this classic show...thanks for the post and beautiful memories..im happy and peppy and bursting with love

  • HAH! you are a true Odd Couple fan!!! I love that song :)

    susan

  • god bless you tony randall!!!

  • This is one of the funniest TV Shows of ALL TIME, and this episode was one of the best

So many classic lines, Felix (Randall) & Oscar (Klugman) worked so well - #2 comedy team after Art Carney & Jackie Gleason

  • Now I'm mature, I ACTUALLY got the clue for "Aristophanes"! What a great way to start the day...with a laugh. Thanks for posting this!

  • "It's a known fact that Lincoln loved mayonnaise!" Pure gold.

  • Oscar tells Felix that Ario... whatever he said... was ridiculous, then the next password was ridiculous! Coincidence? I hope not.

  • "ARISTOPHENES..............Ridiculous" HAHA!!!! I love this episode, and still crack up!! Thanks for posting this!!

  • My previous post was directed to A curious dance. You ARE funny. Some ppl just do not appreciate it. Again I got it in wayyyy under 2 secs. LOL!

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Boy is it frustrating to say one SIMPLE thing and have everyone turn on you!!! I make observations like that, and if people don't like it, don't read my comments. UGH!! But thanks so much, SueBeaWho, and it takes a BIG weight on my chest to now someone out there is with me! :)

  • This is NOT the same Password stage as it was at the ABC studios.

  • Yeah... truth be told, the real set was more orange. The password font was also different.

  • and the clue is... flaming

  • This is my fav. episode of Odd Couple!!

You can kinda tell that its scripted though, because if you watch Betty White (the Fair Lady of the Passwords) on Password, she would never have said some of those responses or clues, and wouldn't have passed pencil.

Still, AWESOME episode!!! Can't go wrong when you mix 2 awesome shows like Password and Odd Couple!!!!

  • You can "kind of tell it's scripted"????

This was a sitcom. The whole freakin' show was scripted! ! ! ! !

    WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU?!?!?!?!?

    GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

  • LOL!

    hahahahahahah!

  • Of course it's scripted. What made you think it wouldn't be?

  • I knew it was it was a figure of scpeech when I said kind of. I meant it WAS scripted. Just a different word. I meant you could tell that they...never mind

  • Ha! You are funny. I personally got it the first time you said it. Some ppl do not get self-deprecating humor. Keep writing the way you write, some of us are bright enough to get your true meaning. :-) Peace.

  • ALL TV SITCOMS ARE SCRIPTED

  • I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG forget I sadi ANYTHING!!!!!!

I meant it as in TV takes liberties to makenjokes sort of thing but never mind just drop it and enjoy the clip.

  • haha... It's okay :D I got what you meant. haha... That's funny "enjoy the clip"- love the way you write :D

  • Allen: No will you please relinquish your chair?

    Felix: Chair...SEAT!...Oh what a gyp!!

  • bored here

can you two pls stop arguing?? Thanks! 9k

  • It may have been the most telegraphed punch in TV history, but who cares! It was funny, and it didn't require profanity or gross-out humor!

  • Re-Hi's, The "Sleepwalker" episode is on Season 2, Disc: 1. -- Sorry I don't know how to record and upload clips. "PITS, PITS, PITS! In my JUICE! JUICE! JUICE!!!" = Hilarious, Hilarious, HILARIOUS! ; )

  • Hi, yes, it's the SLEEPWALKER episode. - I watched it, again, last night. I believe it's on Season 2. - When I get home, I'll see what disc it's on and let you know. -- Man, that one is as funny as the PASSWORD episode! (LOL!) -- Thanx! : ) ~ Shaede ~

  • Gosh, I love this scene. (LOL!)

I found out what season it aired and purchased the set. - That whole episode is a riot!

I also have the "Sleepwalker" episode: "PITS, PITS, PITS! In my JUICE! JUICE! JUICE!" (LMAO!)

I wish I knew how to post the scene up here, on YouTube, but I don't have a clue as how to how to make a video it and put it up here.

Thanks so much for posting this wonderful scene. :)

    Shaede

  • Oops, sorry about all the errors in second to the last paragraph. I was distracted and I don't see any Edit button.

    Sorry,

    Shaede

  • I will try to post that particular episode this weekend. Is that the exact name of the episode? Let me know and I will look for it.

    susan

  • At 2:06, Felix says "Thank you, Oscar" when Alan Ludden hands him the password card. Then he tries to correct himself. Strange they didn't edit this out.

  • Wow! I'm the one that posted this episode..seen it several times...never noticed!! Thanks! :)

  • It's worth noting that Felix was played by Tony Randall, one of the most famous Password players.

  • and this is when TV offered up something worth watching. thank you for posting this classic. Cheers!!!!!

  • Is that what Betty White looked like back then? She sure changed by "Password Plus"!

  • One of the best sitcom episodes ever written!

  • I don't think I mentioned in the previous comments I made, but this episode was written by Frank Buxton. Funny and clever man.

  • Aristophanes!!!!! -- Ridiculous!

This has been, for decades, a rallying cry for me. All I have to do is say "Aristophanes!!!!!" and I laugh at ridiculous situations in life.

Thank you for posting this clip. It is a priceless, classic slice of cultural linguistic humor.

  • "And for those of you playing along at home... I'm terribly sorry."

  • man, Tony was a comedic genius....he really was.
