I recall the opening ad from probably 42 years ago. Fascinating how Coke could project such a gentle and nurturing image while they engage in murderous union busting. They had plenty of political intrigue in national elections here.
yeah something thats pretty close to socialism is probably the answer, but i reject all of these ridiculous political constructs, since they have all long since been co-opted and perverted by the powers that be.
what we need first are strong, MILITANT unions that are capable of acting. and we need to put the bankster manipulators on trial and then lock em up.
oh and we need to reenact Glass-Steagel, but good luck with that.

I am related to this guy. He's a complete dickhead. He's one of the phoniest people I've ever known. He is abusive to women, a user, and extremely childish and self-centered. Those of you who like his lyrics are probably well informed, intelligent people. But do you really need to hear it from his whiney, obnoxious voice?
@JusDuckie Why the fuck have you been flagged? Is it because nice little radicals don't like having their nonthreatening white male songsters challenged? I don't know if your allegations are true are not, but I get sick of activist communities who silence criticism of their own. I've seen too many "progressive" men clamor to protect one another when called out on their sexism to discard this accusation as not potentially having a grain of truth.
this is brilliant. I am thinking about heading a campaign at Reading Uni to try and get it banned from campus, and I will use this! thank you Mr David Rovics, for your inspirational work. If you're reading this, keep it up!
The Lancet & OBR studies are the most reliable estimates available. With any disaster on the scale of Iraq it is difficult to know the true numbers.
Even if the numbers are much lower that would hardly justify the deaths that have been caused by these wars.
& this is without even mentioning the refugees, the destitute, the wounded, maimed & disabled, the people contaminated with depleted uranium, or those who have been imprisoned, raped, tortured, or have lost family & friends.
& what is different about the situation in Afghanistan?
The Afghans "want" the occupation there? Not according to RAWA, the main democracy & woman's/human rights organisation in the country. Or Malalai Joya. Or the Afghans interviewed by journalists & writers such as Robert Fisk or Sonali Kolhatkar & James Ingalls.
The US/NATO occupation is no more popular than the Soviet 1 was.

so wait....because coke decided that hey...if we higher union workers we will probably go out of business because no one in there right mind would buy a $15 20 oz bottle of coke? Come on, its been proving that unions only do bad for the economy and drive up prices and ruin businesses across america
The unions, at least once upon a time, were founded on good principles. Of course, as with any organization, over time it may become subject to corruption, and in fact, yes, some unions have been turned into cash cows for their organizers over the years. Not always the case, however.
this is true and understandable, but it should have been predictable that if you give one person or group of people power, they will most likely abuse it.
What makes you think the AUC needed Coke's permission to kill someone in Colombia? Even the Colombian National Police don't stand against FARC. It's not like they needed money or some ther form of inducement, trade unionists are often targeted by South American Militants.
The Lancet and OPR studies basically asked people for word of mouth info about killings, which is why the fist study couldn't narrow it any more than *9,000-168,000* So I can't trust that.
"Even if the numbers were much lower that would in no way justify these illegal, evil & murderous wars in Afghanistan & Iraq."

The involvement of the CIA in drugs, terrorism, torture, coups & proxy wars is well established & documented.
The FARC may well be guilty of terrorism (I don't know) & they certainly profit from drugs, but no more so than the Columbian state.

Freedom fighting isn't terroism (or thats just what I think) .. If FARC stopped the production of coca, half of the farmers would lose there jobs

FARC and AUC are two different groups- FARC fight for a free comlumbia and AUC is just guns-for-hire
Staalvonsteelblade 4 years ago
"FARC fight for a free comlumbia"
Is that how you justify FARC's indiscriminate car bombings, growing drugs and use of child soldiers?
mst3k4evur 4 years ago
Hey! if you can Justify the murder of hundreds OF thousands IN Irack with "freedom". Why would he not be capable of justifing car bombings?
ensure87 3 years ago
What makes you think hundreds of thousands died? Show me a reliable study, like counting the dead people.
mst3k4evur 3 years ago
How many reliable studies do you want???
The Lancet- 655,000
Opinion Business Research- 1,220,000
Those are estimated most probable figures, of course. Might be lower. But then again might be higher as well.
Do you want to play the fucking numbers GAME?
Even if the numbers were much lower that would in no way justify these illegal, evil & murderous wars in Afghanistan & Iraq.
Or the long history that precedes the actual invasions.
JRCN84 3 years ago
& how reliable is your information about FARC?
When have they used car bombs?
As for drugs, they TAX cocaine production. They don't actually produce it themselves.
Other organisations involved in the drugs trade in Columbia include the government, the army, para-military groups like AUC
& of course the good old CIA, no strangers to drug dealing & terrorism, not to mention orchestrating coups & setting up proxy armies.
JRCN84 3 years ago
"When have they used car bombs?"
Feb 7 2003 El Nogal nightclub bombing which killed 36 people and injured 200.
"As for drugs, they TAX cocaine production. They don't actually produce it themselves."
They actually fight troops and police that come to burn coca crops.
"of course the good old CIA, no strangers to drug dealing & terrorism"
And I would love to see you prove that.
