  • Kornblut's husband dumped her and now he's fucking Savannah Guthrie. Pretty good trade I think.

  • So your saying that everyone at Gitmo is a terrorist? What of the people who aren't and weren't terroists? They get no say? Or are they just terrorists because you say so.

  • There is no need for terrorist's to attack America after 9/11. Their goal was to have us attack ourselves and they have succeeded! They are watching us use the constitution as a peice of toilet paper with Gitmo, Abu Grab, The Patriot Act, Wire Tapping and they have concluded that there is no need for now to attack America because the NeoCon republican base has already ATTACKED AMERICA! The Terrorist's are succeeding because the past 7 years, America lost the foundation of who we are as a nation!

  • They sound like a bunch of Nazis. Literally. I wonder if they would present the same argument in regard to the average criminal or murderer; "You know, it happened in the past and, to be honest, we're trying to move forward. Plus, it would be costly to investigate. Let's just leave it to the historians and reporters; you know, the people who have no authority to actually punish these criminals."

  • There are two set of rules, we are nothing more then a nation of hypocrites, thieves and liars:

Robbing and lying to us wrecking the economy and stealing from us for the banks is proof America is NOT, nor has been, the country I've fight and bled for.

  • The prospect of lower level administration officials being held accountable in civil court or even criminal courts is more likely. Obama will not carry the political baggage of prosecuting Bush, until the public becomes outraged by revelations of significant misdeeds.

  • Let's not forget CLINTON said the same thing about BUSH SR. And all those men who were involved in criminal activity followed Bush Jr. to the White House and you see where that got us. SOMETHING needs to be done, they are CRIMINALS!

  • don't worry

i think obama only said that two weeks ago so that bush wouldn't pardon himself at the last minute

now tha bush didn't pardon himself, he can let his AG do all the prosecuting

  • It'll never, ever happen. We need to move on. Obama is not that stupid. Also, a whole lot of worms would come out of the can were that to happen.

  • How disappointing, this can't go unanswered.

  • Ronald Reagan signed the UN Convention Against Torture in 1988, Here is part of his message to the Senate: The core provisions of the Convention establish a regime for international cooperation in the criminal prosecution of torturers relying on so-called "universal jurisdiction." Each State Party is required either to prosecute torturers who are found in its territory or to extradite them to other countries for prosecution.

  • Obama made a deal with the R leadership: I won't investigate/prosecute torture, Iraq war intelligence manipulation, etc., if you give minimal resistance to my new New Deal legislation, let my nominees through, and make sure I have a solid and successful first 100 days. It's really, really sad. The Dems are implicated in every failure of the Bush Admin, so they don't want to bring to light how their own political interests were served at the expense of our security and Constitution.

  • diffidatio well said! You are right on the money!

  • What the fuck is all this "move on" bullshit. Those fuckers tried to impeach Clinton for a fucking blowjob. Damn the Democrats are spineless.

  • Pardon my asking but how is Truth and Reconciliation Commission a benign thing? I mean there would no prosecutions but they would unequivocally name Bush and Cheney as war criminals. That is worth something, no?

  • The Democrats (and many of these corporate lapdog pundits fear ENFORCING THE LAW will make them look bad! Remember, that Gerald Ford lost in '76 because he PARDONED Nixon. The Democrats better pull their head out of their ass OR they will see a repeat of 1994's "Gingrich Revolution", where the triangulating Dems lost vital support of their base. What Obama won can be lost again without the grassroots behind him and the Dems and America cannot afford to go back into the hands of the Republicans!

  • Unacceptable. Simply unacceptable

This isn't a matter of politics, this is a matter of justice. These people must be PUNISHED!

  • The Constitution and the law is core to our future success as a country. Not just torture, but a politically motivated Justice Department, lying us into the Iraq War, and illegal wiretaps -- we are systemically screwed regarding future Executive overriding of the Constitution if the law does not step in now. Why do these pundits never talk of this? This is the main and best reason to investigate & prosecute not political revenge, but TV pundits ignore this core argument.

  • Investigate

    Prosecute

    Punish

If not here then at the Hague

  • Why is it OBAMA's choice? And not Department's of Justice...

  • In other words; the Obama administration is only going to follow the law when it's politically convenient. Well, the more things change the more they stay the same. Welcome to Bush 2.0.

  • Not prosecuting means complicity in the crime.

  • You hit the nail on the head!

If this is not dealt with domestically it may well be dealt with internationally.

    watch?v=1eq-_4PtOwc

  • Except for the illegal wiretapping and a whole host of other domestic crimes some of which are big time felonies.

  • What the hell? 'Oh, the republicans might have broken Geneva conventions, but you shouldn't hurt their feelings'?? fffffffffffffffffffff

  • And.....the UN Convention Against Torture. Roanald Reagan signed it in 1988.

It states that we are required to prosecute those that torture in the USA. If we will not it stated we must send them where they will be prosecuted.

  • How many Bob Woodwards are there? The investigative reporter and the Bush backside kisser can't be the same person. This version of BW makes Sarah Palin look like a genius. "Who would you prosecute?"; "It's too late to impeach Bush"; "If there's an investigation into these things, the message will be that we're going soft"

    Jaw-dropping stupidity.

  • Every crime committed happened in the past. That is no excuse to ignore it.

These people need to stop suggesting holding people accountable for crimes is not looking forward (unless they plan to excuse all future crimes).

  • the current crop of pundits and "journalists" are as much to blame for the mess we are in as the people in government. Disgusting lot, the whole bunch of them.
