but have you seen the german panzerschnellbrücke biber? it will cross a 20 meter wide river with just one layer of bridge in under 5 minutes, perhaps 3 1/2 minutes if you are a well skilled operator. and this system of brigde is already existing for some ten years. watch out for german technology .....simply the best....
This is correct, but our system can cross much longer spans. We have been asked to build a 120m bridge, which will be made up of 10 sections. We can build this in 4 hours. I would like to see the Panzerschennbrucke built a bridge this long.
No you can pick the bridge up from the other side if you want. The legs are pined in the main cross support tube. They work on the first or second span of bridge. Subject to which set of pins you pull determines which half get the leg set.
I noticed that the legs for the bridge that are in the water came in on the first section of bridge so now the troops and oshkosh are on the other side of the river can the hemtt now pull the first half of the bridge up and still leave the legs behind and pick them up with the 2nd half of the bridge or is it designed to be left in place untill the troops n the oshkosh return back to the first side of the river ?
No but, the system was built around the US Hemtt LHS. When DND Canada goes with the system they will most likely use the PLS as the prime mover for the bridge system.
Wow fascinating piece of technology. Perhaps a hydraulic powered leg to support the bridge in multiple depths?
