  • Luv her voice...could listen to it a whole day :)

  • All the hate makes me sad. You cannot expect a woman to treat her husband's bastard the same as her own children.

  • @kakefyll She ignores Jon I don't actually think there's anything wrong with that especially after we've seen how other bastards have been treated. She did have proof her sister a highborn noble women told her that the Lannisters murdered her husband, a childhood friend who is very powerful and has great influence also informed her that the dagger belongs to Tyrion. That's enough proof for medieval society especially when grotesques are seen as the spawn if evil

  • i HATE Catelyn in the books! (only read the first 3 so far).

I mean, yea, she has the motivation, but she's SO WHINEY!!!!! "I can't let him be touched by my grief, my grief must not get the best of me, is my little boy lost to me? must handle my grief". It's so annyoing to read that OVER AND OVER again! it's worse than Arya's "Fear cuts deeper than swords"!

  • @Jalanko13 because you wouldn't be like that if you've lost your whole family?

Honestly not a single Catelyn hater can give a valid reason to hate her

  • @AnahSkywalker Well, yes. Sort of. The way she treats Jon is rather unfair(in the books at leas), yesyes, I know. He is a product of Ned's infadelity. But that's not Jon's fault. On top of that, she blamed Tyrion with basically no proof. If she hadn't been so dumb, she would have seen that the knife really could have gotten into the hands of pretty much anyone near Tyrion. Not just him. That being said, I don't really hate her. I just dislike these things, but other than that she is ok.

  • Catelyn I almost go mad too, after all of that messing that George RR did to you haha...I don't blame you

  • @AnahSkywalker Oops I mean find I was to busy laughing to realise the typo :P

  • @TheIrishMail Lol you're so funny xD come back when you can five me a PROPER reason to hate her :D

  • I love Catelyn!!! She's amazing, strong and very clever. Stop whining about Jon IRS not like she made his life miserable. Compared to other characters (bastards and true borns) Jon's living the life!

  • @AnahSkywalker It was Catelyns idea to send Eddard down south to be hand of the king and now hes dead. It was Catelyn who kidnapped Tyrion and started a bloody war in the Riverlands and than managed to let Tyrion get away. It was Catelyn who let Jamie Lannister free and Robb lost a vital hostage, his only way of getting Sansa back. Catelyn wanted Breinne dead after all the shit she went through trying to find Sansa.. CATELYN IS A STUPID COW!!

  • @TheIrishMail Capturing Tyrion started the war? I have no clue what books/show you have been reading/watching. But it sure as hell isn't this one. The war started because Joff killed Ned. Joff killed Ned because he is a prick and accused Ned of treason. Catelyn wanted Ned to stay at first, until she got a message from her sister saying Cersei killed Jon Arryn. Robb was dead soon after she released Jamie anyways. Jamie was still thought as a prisoner of Robbs army when that deed was going down.

  • As good as she is, there's one aspect of this character that I've never liked, and that's her behaviour towards Jon Snow.

She dislikes him because he's a constant reminder that her beloved husband was unfaithful to her once. Now it's reasonable that she'd be upset over that but her anger has always been directed towards Jon, who was merely the result of that infidelity, not the one who did the deed, which was Ned Stark.

So basically, she hates Jon for something that wasn't his fault.

  • @TheJboy88 She WAS mad at Ned for a long time, but Ned won her over by doing everything he could to be a good husband since then. Jon never really tried to do anything to win Catelyn's affection (truth be told, anyone who isn't his close friend sees him as cold and sullen, and until the Wall he had entitlement issues) and he acts kind of the way the stereotypical Bastard Usurper acts. We only know he isn't because we see things from his POV.

  • She's a zombie

  • the 4th Kind !!

  • Comment removed

  • She's really beautiful! But she kind that fucked up the starks

  • my god this woman is gorgeous...

  • What a beautiful woman...

  • The Stark women all have red hair <3

  • @dayjun ahem, Arya.

  • @dayjun No, they were Tully's

  • dammit...i can't find lilwaynemetalgod's comment.... -______-

  • @guitarobsessed85 Well obviously! Bed offended and humiliated her by allowing Jon to be raised with her children. If my husband did that I'd be livid. Yeah I know it's bot Jon's fault but hating Ned would be seen as unthinkable so she directs her hatred and anger to Jon

  • Look, she isn't crazy at all. What you need to understand is that each and every character in this series has their motivations for doing what they do. Catelyn Stark's motivations have always revolved around her family. Everything she does is for them. If that makes her a crazy bitch, then you must be real cold

  • Catelyn Stark....the single most idiotic & annoying character in the whole series of books. She is quite literally Moon Boy with tits.

  • @cuchulainn187 OMG! i couldnt agree with u more...i couldnt stand her, she caused so much trouble.

  • @cuchulainn187 That is so not fair. SHE JUST LOVES HER CHILDREN!

  • @primordialchick Except she's a bitch to Jon

  • @guitarobsessed85 Not her child.

  • When the actors love their work, their art, their role and the story they play in.

Well, you can't help but love them and their work all the more.

  • I think she`s beautiful. I like how she and Arya`s actress kind of look like each other, keeping family resemblance in mind. Yeah I know that Sansa and Cat are supposed to bear a much closer resemblance in the books, but when casting actors for a part you need someone to fill the role, and Michelle does that, thumbs up.

  • It's not a wise decision to held Tyrion as her captive =.=

  • @analogheart21 It is known.

  • @analogheart21 Holding Tyrion captive didn't really cause any problems directly, other than Jaime attacking Ned on the street. Ned had the king behind his back, and the Lannisters couldn't do anything. If Ned had taken care of things better (ie. not tell Cersei he knows her secret, or taken precautions against Petyr as he should have), then none of the problems would happen.

  • @holdemehha Passed the first book Cat made alot of stupid decisions that put her whole family in danger. I'l save the spoilers but Cat and her sister Lysa are both crazy bitches.

  • @828Pakie I have never read the book, only saw the show. On the show she seems like a perfectly adjusted lady so far. But I have heard from friends who read the book that she is a whole lot bitchier in the book vs. the show, so I suppose you are right.

  • @holdemehha I think she's more bitchy in the show. In the books she understands why Ned has to do what he has to do. Granted, with Jon Snow things are a bit different, and though I don't like the way she treats him I understand why she does it.

  • @LilWayneMetalGod Wow where did you get ur info from?!

  • I thought they would of gotten someone sexyer

  • @proacclaim

Originally, Jennifer Ehle was supposed to be Cat, but for some reason that didn't work out :(

But Catelyn is a pretty hateful character anyway, so I don't think I mind too much xD

  • @CarolanClan Yeah, just that in the book, she comes off alot younger and more "erotic", It would of been interesting seeing someone a bit younger being so strong and wise, but you can only work with what you have. Thanks for replying btw, really appreciate it :)

  • she's fit to be a queen, if only Ned's still alive...

  • Catelyn will endure so many hardships. She will survive a massacre only to be horribly disfigured. She will become the leader of a vigilante group that will execute anybody related with the Lannisters, Bolton, and Frey families.

  • Epilouge of Storm of Swords.... nuf' said

  • @WhiteboyProductionz hell yes

  • Isn't that Mrs. Granger? She's so beautiful for her age.

  • Comment removed

  • Stop being such a bitch to Jon Snow, Catelyn!!!!

  • I wonder how they are going to make the Un-cat

  • I wonder how they are going to make the Un-cat

  • I wonder how they are going to make the Un-cat

  • Catelyn gave me goosebumps on the 3rd book XD

  • Lilwayne, go back to the other side of the Wall where you belong

  • She should've been casted in Harry Potter. I think she'll make a pretty convincing witch.

  • @blablablove she's hermione's mother :)

  • @oAnomalijAo But Hermione's mother is a muggle :))

  • OMG that lil wayne douchebag. Im just going to rant about how pathetic he is by not replying to his post because THATS WHAT HE WANTS.. hes whats known as an attention whore. He strives for attention online... look at his page it reveals that hes made that page to mess with ppl. Everything he says is invalid. Not only because he listens to lil wayne .... but because he has a video that says jimi hendrix ripped off the jonas brothers -.-... hes such a tool. game of thrones ftw!

  • @LilWayneMetalGod lol. obvious troll is obvious.

  • @LilWayneMetalGod ok so forgetting for the moment that A Game of Thrones was written several years before Twilight, is the only reason you have to say that its copying it that there are 3 boys and 2 girls and that the fathers name sounds simmilar? also they have pet wolves, and there are werewolves in twilight? srsly? by that logic its ripping of the wolfman.

  • @LilWayneMetalGod i have never EVER heard such stupidness in my LIFE. they are nothing like each other and they were written almost 10 years apart! and what is up with "ya" grammer? is this what modern book readers are coming to?

  • Stoneheart ;)

  • Stoneheart ;)

  • this Cat is not as "strong-looking" as I imagined in the book. She looks too innocent imo which is why I still say Cate Blanchett would have been perfect. Her role in Robin Hood matches Catelyn's character very very well.

In any case, Fairley gives Cat a different perspective to me which is nice as well

  • Comment removed

  • @LilWayneMetalGod the stupidity of this comment physically hurts.

  • The character Catelyn Stark reminds me a lot of Abigail Adams.

  • Monkeyslut?!

  • I respect her character in so many ways... but I hated the way she treated Tyrion Lannister and Jon Snow

  • @SuperHeroMania She's proud to a defect sometimes. The Tullys are a very stubborn and prideful lot. They are honorable as well and will always think of their family first. That's why she loathed Jon and Tyrion, hey "threatened" the stability of her family and she could not forgive them for such.

  • @Citan1981 But she seems to be the only one who despises Jon

  • @Citan1981

I thought it was made pretty clear that she loathed Jon Snow because he was a constant reminder of Ned's infidelity. She felt like she didn't have to tolerate him, yet Ned goes and brings him to Winterfell. I don't have the book in front of me to quote the lines she says, but it's in there.

As for Tyrion, I think you're underplaying Cat's reason for loathing him. She was under the impression that he tried to murder Bran. "Stability" had little to do with it.

  • @SuperHeroMania I agree, but she still is one of my favorite characters. i don't know how people like Petyr more than her, seeing as he is one of the msot villanious people in the whole serious. I hate Petyr's GUTS.

  • @philipmarie1854 Well if you read far into the book you'll understand, can't say anymore than that :)

  • @SuperHeroMania you ain't seen nothing yet

  • @SuperHeroMania To be fair, she thought Tyrion had tried killing her son, and Jon Snow was a constant reminder that her husband had cheated on her.

  • @TheKab112 Agreed on Tyrion, but blaming Jon Snow for his father's mistakes is wrong in my opinion

  • @SuperHeroMania She's not exactly blaming him, it's like the son of the guy who murdered your family (Extreme case). Lets face it, you propably won't make friends with him.

  • @SuperHeroMania

Jon was Ned's bastard, not her blood, and she thought Tyrion wanted to kill Bran so I can't blame her, really, even if I love Jon and Tyrion. I think Michelle Fairley does an excellent job too.

  • @krumov001 Yes I understand that, but she's a little hasty with them

  • @SuperHeroMania

Yeah she could've TRIED to be nicer to Jon at least...

what's your opinion on other characters like Arya and Daenerys?

  • @krumov001 Arya is great because she's so different compared to most of the less active female members, except that I'm a little uneasy how she could kill a boy and feel so proud.

Daenerys I felt only sympathy for her when I read the first book until she began to develop with Khal. She's one of the stronger female characters, and I love that. I don't look forward to her stories in season 2 though. Clash of Kings novel had nothing to offer for her character disappointingly :(

  • @SuperHeroMania

sorry, I meant to say "tomboy".

  • I think i've just found my MILF

  • Michelle Fairley is an amazing actress!!!

  • i dont like her cause jons me fav....jus a fan point..on the otherhand great actress an can see her point...the cast choose for the show..they are all brilliant in their own right to be fair:D

  • She is my favorite. I am so excited for Lady Stoneheart.

  • I love her voice. Not too girly but still sexy and strong.

  • She's a great, cunning character, even though she treats Jon like shit

  • @MrEire2010

he should get his own character study. "He's a HODOR! giant who has a heart of HODOR!"

  • She's so gorgeous. :)

  • MILF

  • Can't wait for her as Lady Stoneheart.

  • i can't believe this role almost went to jennifer ehle, who i LOVE, but now i can't see her doing this role justice.

  • She even talks like Catelyn when being herself. Perfect casting.

  • Mrs. Granger?

  • Michelle Fairley is the PERFECT actress for Catelyn Stark! She does not even need to act, just to speak the lines!

  • @Arvarker Haha, so true. It's like GRRM wrote the character FOR Michelle Fairley (even though I know he didn't).

  • @Arvarker Haha, agreed. That's exactly what I just said above :)

  • Even though I think she looks nothing like Catelyn, she is a good actress and that makes up for it

  • @OHMAHGAA She looks fine to me. Pretty, somewhat older, long brown hair. Bam, Catelyn Stark.

  • @BigMikeMcBastard Catelyn is suppose to have Auburn hair, blue eyes and very beautiful, like Sansa. But like I said she's a good actress so it makes up for it.

  • @BigMikeMcBastard Brown hair? Looks reddish to me...

  • @OHMAHGAA Honestly she looks close to how i visioned her after reading the books.

  • my favorite character, such an amazing actress

  • She's a great actress, but it's still hard to get over her chicken-like features.

  • I think it's an awesome show. Her Northern Ireland accent is quite light in the series. It's funny too cos some of the knights of the Vale sound a bit Irish, whereas nearly everyone apart from the Lannisters sounds Northern. Not that it matters I spose, as it's a fantasy land. I think they should go with an Irish theme for the River Lords in series 2.

  • She doesn't look great in still shots, but she really looks fair enough in film. And her AMAZING acting makes up for anything she might lack.

  • @LilWayneMetalGod for the love of the gods, what a hater! you don't have nothing better to do? if you despise GoT so much, go watch some twilight movies.

  • @emann43 with a penchant for hanging "traitors" no less

  • i think Cat's sexy

  • @MorrDoors27 So does Petyr;)

  • @WhiteboyProductionz i'll fight lord baelish

  • This saga gives life to so many complex characters, brilliant mind the one who created such masterpiece.

  • Lilwayne, interesting that the Game of Thrones (the first novel) was published in 1996, 7 years before Twilight was written.

  • What a woman

  • HBIC

  • Maybe not the most interesting character, but easily one of the best actors on the show! She impressed the hell outta me with her hatred towards Jon-scenes, the chemistry with Sean Bean. And her scene where she has just received the news of Neds death. Walking past her bannermen, trying to keep her dignity, and barely being able to hold it together, before she goes into the woods and finally breaks down. Just plain perfect!

    And she's beautiful, btw!

  • As of Clash of Kings (about to finish), I don't really "like" Catelyn, but I definitely feel sorry for her. It's hard to like her after what she said to Jon, though I do like her chapters, because she interacts with so many interesting characters (particularly Robb).

  • I dont care if shes married to ned, and the mother of the good kids. I hate her, she treats jon like shit, but mostly because she imprisoned Tyrion though, that just wasnt cool.

  • I dont know if I'm supposed to dislike her or not, but I cant stand her character she constantly is making things worse for Ned over Bran and blames Jon for something she should be blaming her husband for. If it wasnt for her connections to people like Littlefinger and the Freys, which turn out to be more of a curse than a blessing, she would be useless to the Starks.

  • @Darkknight7989 I hate Catelyn ,too!!

  • I hated her in the books and in the series too, nice work :P

  • Catelyn is a BOSS!

  • @HeroSavage No, she a BOSS!

  • @WorldsMostWated No shes a bitch, Jon Snow should fuck her hard then kill her. Thats what she deserves.

  • @HeroSavage Why, Jon?

  • @HeroSavage you are sick

  • THE WOMAN!

  • Milf

  • @barkevvv Didn't your mommy told you that Spoilers are adopted , their tongue will be cut out by goblins , and their eyes will be pierced with hot metal spikes !!!!!!!!!!

  • She's beautiful and I really like her character. Not my fav but definatley one of the better ones. =)

  • Her character is sooo annoying!

  • @aires8441 She a BOSS! HOUSE STARK FTW!!!!

  • Yeyy,, i love people who called stark =D

  • Nathan's mum!

  • Michelle Fairley is pretty hot.

  • i really really want to like catelyn but jon snow being one of my favorite characters, i can't abide by her treatment of him.

  • Holy shit. Give her credit, she obviously likes her role.

  • Cat Stark is one of the strongest characters in the series I think.

It's very nice to see a woman with such a strong will.

If only there were more of those in real life :)

  • I'm Officaly a Ned\Cat fan ! they are AMAZING together !!! <3

  • such a great actor, she's wonderful as a mother, hope her feelings for her stepson will change..:)) Ladies and gentlemen I think we are fortunate to watch a great tv show, specially now with so much horsecrap on tv.

  • I really liked her in the first episode. She really suits the part-- I never took the description in the book as something that HAS to be played on screen. This woman is beautiful, a more mature beautiful, and Catelyn always was a more mature person compared to Cersei-- having Cersei noticeably younger really showed the difference in the two women at the feast-- fierce & proud women and mothers but that is all they share.

  • GAH i'm sorry, but of all the characters in the book Catelyn(Cersei not included) is the character i least like, she pretty much wrecks the entire house stark

  • I love her character, she'll do anything to keep her family safe and risked her life to do so many times

  • I want to like her, but her hatred for Jon keeps me from fully doing so. It wasn't Jon's decision to be born and her disdain for him is misdirected anger at Ned.

  • I think this exact same actress six years younger would have been absolutely perfect casting. Since she is not available, current time Michelle Fairley is a good compromise.

  • I think people forget that Catelyn Stark is not Catelyn Tully. Catelyn Tully was a youthful beauty, but Catelyn Stark is the mother of FIVE kids. She's not eighteen anymore. She's still beautiful, but she's definitely not meant to be Anna Popplewell kind of beauty.

  • At first I was disappointed with her casting as in the book she's described as an extremely beautiful woman so I was thinking like.. Kate Winslet level of beauty. The more I see Michelle in the roll the more I see how perfectly suited she is to it and that she may be not be a classic beauty but she wonderfully portrays Catelyn's strong character and is quite a beautiful woman. Can't wait to see what she does with the latter half of the series!

  • I think Im going to like Catelyn Stark.

  • Can't wait for the show plus time to read the book!

  • Kinda iffy on this character choice..... Can't wait to see how she pulls off "zombie" Catelyn after she dies :P

  • @Caotico09 WHAT?!

  • @44hilla44 "Blushes" oops. sorry :O. Ignore anything i said.

  • @Caotico09 It's OK, Im really sad right now :( She's my favorite character ;-( ;-(

  • Come on EVERYBODY looks too old, there's no way the actors playing Robb, Jon and Daenarys are the age the books says they are. What we want is a good job, not fit everything perfectly to the descriptions and then do a shitty job.

  • Too old? Stop being dumb, she looks pretty good for a woman who supposedly birthed five children. Cat's a great character even if she's not one of my favorites. I can understand her feelings, but I never could forgive her treatment of Jon. But that's just me.

  • @DathanielTDK

I know plenty of women who've birthed more than five children and look much younger and better than that. She's too old--- or rather, looks too old. She looks to be about 10 years older than Ned. Cat is beautiful in the books and she begins looking worse and worse as time passes. If she already looks like that, how much lower can you go without it looking fake with overdone makeup? They should've had a slightly younger and prettier actress so that they can have somewhere to go.

  • @Lorden Shut the fuck up. I'd still tap that

  • @Lorden Pretty much everyone was aged up for the series, including Ned and Cat. She doesn't look any older than Ned, I would say they make a beautiful couple. She is exactly what a beautiful yet slightly older woman would look like in medieval times, which is what the show is supposed to portray.

But I guess you would prefer the plastic surgery version of Hollywood, huh?

  • @Ybrethar You're making assumptions about what I prefer. Everyone has aged up, yes. That's what I'm saying. The series has just begun and she already looks like that. I'd be very impressed if you were alive in Medieval times so you could tell me how women looked then. Also, far as I remember this series isn't set in Medieval times, since it's a fictional novel in a fictional world with fictional creatures.

@gronkierw The intelligence you've just displayed is far too much for me to handle. Sorry
