  • There was a book written about him that was a complete hatchet job. I'm surprised his family didn't sue, maybe they felt a lawsuit would just give the book free publicity. Very sad story, and his wife Berry Berenson was on the plane that crashed into the World Trade Center on 9/11.

  • Love Perkins and love Dave. Great interview. Thanks for posting! In this and an earlier Psycho 3 interview, Dave asks after Norman as though he's mutual friend. "So how's Norman doing?" Brilliant approach. You can tell Perkins enjoys it. Such fun.

  • We lost Tony too soon. Hope his sons are holding up the legacy.

  • Thanks for uploading this. A shame Perkins wasn't given better acting opportunities at the end of of his life.

  • To really understand his amazing talent and essence, you have to see him in " Too Many Goodbyes" with Ingrid Bergman. Irresistable. Rest in Peace .

  • Norman what did you put in my tea.

  • A great, great actor and huge loss to acting and film/theater.

  • It's so nice to see that even at this age whenever he smiled i could see the esence of a 30 year old anthony perkins just as i remember him in psycho or many other interviews :). Rest in peace Mr. Perkins

  • @xXsamiiiXx He looked great at sixty when this was shot.

  • @HIVdave and you are a big bitch.

  • @SecretAgentJaviOO7 u mad because norman was fag and died of aids ?

  • @HIVdave u mad because HIVdave is a bitch?

  • @HIVdave he wasnt he got aids in the hospital

  • Did anyone notice anything significant about that clip that they showed from Psycho IV??? I'll be well impressed if anyone noticed what i noticed & even more impressed if they can tell me whay it was done that way & what it means etc!

  • @ghosthunternumberone what is the significance? I don't see anything sneaky....

  • @DHansen17 As he said he he will have to kill again, the slowly zoomed in on him with the Sun symbol on the window behind him, they do this all the time in tv * movies, they frame sun symbols in the background, usually behind the actors heads! This symbol is what Masons worship, it represents evil! This is just one example of it being used i a negative way!

  • He was a great actor.....

  • I love the way he talks :-)

  • Dear Unholyedsoul, Thank you.

  • I was a friend of Tony P.'s mother. I am in the book "Split Image". Thank you for the postings. - Abbe B.

  • @missabbebuck I've read that book two times. You're lucky that you were that close to the Perkins.

  • @unholyedsoul his family should have sued the author of that book for defamation. it's trash.

  • he was really good in psycho.

  • Yes, nominated for Friendly Persuasion, didn't win.

Also, many didn't know he had Bell's Palsy, which affects one side of the face. Some people thought his face was relatively inexpressive.

  • Yes, nominated for Friendly Persuasion, didn't win.

  • He sounds a lot like Don Adams.

  • He was robbed of an Oscar. Not even nominated! What an insult.

  • Here in this interview you can see how stupid the audience is. As Tony was talking about the people in Thailand, I thought, wow that man is so great! And he MEANT what he was saying. I just DON'T get it WHY the audience laughes at a point where you should think about yourself and the people around you. I still don't get it. I mean they possibly think it's not them. Hello, we are all the same. And that really made me think what Tony said.

  • A study ("Mothers of male homosexuals") shows that a woman overprotecting her son can make him queer!

  • @belangerist Google the study and see!

  • @belangerist

    Dear Belkinwirlesst.,

Was it your own study then?

    .

Were they all your old boyfriends?.

    .

    Cheers.

  • Actually, Anthony was 28 at the time of Psycho but actors make so many movies they forget the timelines in relation to their ages and dates of films

  • @redgrapeskins He was 28 going on 29 when it was filmed. It was released in 1960 when he was 30, so he probably is just thinking of the release date in correlation with his age.

  • @AtorTheFlyingEagle You're wrong. He was born in 1932 and the movie was filmed in 1959 when he was 27. When he said 30 he was obviously just estimating.

  • @listentome94 My bad. I thought he was born in 1930. I stand corrected.

  • Very enjoyable -- thanks for the video-- those vcrs came in handy, and hold so many great moments we'll never see again

  • He's perfect <3

  • Bloody Letterman..just let him talk....

  • albert itchcock lol

  • I remember many years ago when I was on a train reading a newspaper and I read the shocking news that Anthony Perkins died then. I was shocked. When I saw a photo after reading the headline and before reading the news itself, I had a feeling he died of AIDS because he aged so much in such as short space of time.

  • @BlaineBingham

    Dear B.,

When you look back and remember that feeling, can you say why it was just a feeling rather than an understanding?

    .

What was inhibiting you?at that time, do you think?

    .

    Cheers.

  • It's funny that Norman called in as "Ed". Ed Kemper, twelve years after the original "Psycho", killed his mother in Santa Cruz, CA, and was subsequently revealed as a serial killer who'd also murdered a few young coeds. Thing is, like Norman, Ed Kemper was such a sweet, polite, smart, nice-looking young man that nobody, even the cops, could believe he was telling the truth when he turned himself in and confessed. Very, very Norman-like, he was. I think Perkins would've enjoyed the joke.

  • I talked to Perkins many times during this period, cause his two boys were big comic book fans and shopped at a store I managed. He was at turns shy and stoic, but sometimes he could be affable and downright charming. He seemed to be one of those actors who is very critical of his own work., and wasn't crazy about many of the films he was. Still, he was proud to have worked w/ Hitch even tho it typecast him. At this point the only one of his films his boys had seen was Disney's THE BLACK HOLE.

  • @4everfrankenstein What was the role Perkins enjoyed playing most? Was Perkins happy having made "The Black Hole"? I ask because it was one of my favorite SF movies as a kid and I'm watching it right now. That is amazing that you knew such a great actor in that fashion.

  • My favourite actor, right here. =]

  • when he walked on and smiled and raised his eyebrows I smiled too.

  • I'm not as impressed with his acting talents as I am with his wit, intelligence and charisma. He could have hosted the tonight show for christ sakes he's riding right along with Letterman. He's a gamey guy.

  • One of cinema's underrated talents. He didn't get enough roles to immortalize him.

  • Did he die two year after this interview? Wow, he looks great!

  • Looks very good for 60 years old. He is quick but Letterman keeps up with him.

  • One of the great underused actors of film.

  • I dont doubt that about Tony Perkins one bit. He was a true gift to the acting industry. Iv heard he insulted people like diana ross on set and what not but you know Im sure if thats the case he had his reasons. He's an actors actor myself being an actor.

  • A cool fact about Perkins, is he would stand with fans for pictures and sign autographs at Universal Studios, CA. The day I visited, he was taking a day off. I would have loved to meet him and have him give his "nervous face" for a photo with him in front of the "Psycho" mansion. He was a great actor.

  • AP: Top man!

  • yep

  • Didn't his wife die on 9/11...? I think she was in one of the planes that hit the twin towers when she was going back home from visiting her husban's grave site!

  • @Tusc9969 yes his wife berry was killed in the 9/11 attacks. very sad.

  • @Tusc9969 it's not true

  • @Tusc9969 Yeah the day before his ninth death anniversary.

  • He's a good guy. I like his style

  • I really enjoyed this thanks for putting this up! He was a great man!

  • thanks for uploading this!!! :) I loved the Psycho series!

  • Thanks for the upload ^_^

  • i looked up anthony perkins on the tonight show. i didn't think i would actually find anything like this.

  • He was so good-looking. R.I.P Anthony.
