This is one of the most positive, upbeat pieces of country music I have ever heard, and I love it. Always have. Thank you for for the pictures, they are excellent!
This song I play everyday for my future beautiful wife who lives in the Upstate South Carolina as I live in the Flatlands of Northwest Ohio assistiting with the family farm before moving to wonderful picturesque mountains and water falls of Upstate South Carolina for good on my future wife's family ranch there. My Soon To Be Beautiful Wife is forever my "Carolina In The Pines" Thanks So Much For Posting This Very Special Song
Its amazing how this song brought me so much happiness and then so much heart break yet i still come back to this video......remembering the good times
im not a emotional person but this song will always have a firm grip on me
@doolb666 Hi Jon, hope you are well. I've heard it said that music is what feelings sound like.maybe this has something to do with it. I wish you much success my friend!.....kindly
@Somewheremaybe Thanks Glenn, im doing well. and thats an interesting thought, perhaps your right about that. My girl that I told you about left me awhile back and it was a pretty hard time for me, but ive been doing a lot better these days, this song never failed to help me through it all. hope you are well too and i wish you nothing but the best as well!
Played Dad's copy of the Blue Sky Night Thunder LP last Saturday. This album would have come out when he was just 18, haven't asked him when he actually bought it though.
"She came to me, said she knew me, said she'd known me a long time" is such a beautiful lyric and my favorite part of the song. She saw him and she knew instantly he was the one, her future husband she'd been dreaming of.
Our music teacher taught us this song in class, without listening to it beforehand. Believe it or not, this is the first time I have ever heard it. Michael MM sings it better than we ever could!
Thank You for posting this....my husband and I liked this song. He passed away last year, and it feels "healing" to listen to this, and other favorite music. You have put such beautiful scenery with the song, too.
I've always liked this song... because I make my home in North Carolina and I love the mountians. Another reason is that EVERY time this song comes into my mind while I'm riding my motorcycle, I slow down because it tells me that I'm just about to get a speeding ticket. That happened THREE times before I caught on!
Normally I do not like country music, but this song I have liked since 1975. Some of the best banjo playing I have ever heard, this and "Duelin' Banjos." Thanks for posting this!
Thank you so much for posting this video. I know I'm repeating what a lot of other people have said but it really does bring back a flood of wonderful memories during a special time in my life. God bless and thanks a million,
No doubt my favorite MMM song, Wildfire a close second. The instrumentals are to die for. This song is just so beautiful, kind of makes me weep some as I reminisce. Not necessarily a sad song but memories play a key part.
Is the picture of the red headed girl sitting on a rock ledge with a road in the background the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area? I spent many wonderful days and nights hiking and camping there. I will always remember that as the best time of my life.
I lived in South Central Texas at the height of the proverbial "Cosmic Cowboy" movement. I spent a lot of time in Austin as well & that was essentially where it was born. Michael Murphey as he was known back then, was one of the more successful crossover acts. That was a great time to be alive & young & in TX. This song has special meaning to me. It reminds me of being in the Texas Hill Country. When I am, I always play it. For it's 4 minute duration, I don't have a care in the world.
Dear Michael - some songs are timeless . This is one of them . Lovely , lovely . Thanks for being so talented ; and bringing such a sweet song to us .
@xanglat Hey, thanks so much for visiting and your kind comments. I am happy to have met you. I enjoy your channel and faved your featured video. Take care......Glenn

Michael Murphy, thank you, this song is perfection, although seperated by many, many, miles from the love of my life, i love her with all my heart and this song only makes my love for her stronger, thanks for the post man, such an amazing song

make me want to go hiking with my wife. one time we went on a hike in the hocking hills area in ohio . we hiked 12 miles in 8 hours from ash cave to ceder falls to old mans cave and back. we never ran out of things to talk about. i enjoyed our time together .26 years together still lover her like we frist met

Great video. Thanks for putting MMM’s version. It’s the best. One correction on the lyrics.
. . . and the wood stove smokes and glows,
As the fire grows, we can warm our souls,
Watching rainbows in the COALS.
And it’s the banjo that gives it this “old timey” longing for home sound.
