She resists at first because he is a football player, and she doesn't like being around football players (her dad coaches the team). She finally gives in, though, because he is incredibly sweet. Although these two are really sweet together (when they are actually together and Julie isn't messing it all up), I think that Matt is way too good for Julie. He is very mature and responsible, and she is the stereotypical teenager. Anyway, hope this helps... :)
