Muay Thai rules, where kicks, knees and throws are worth major points, Buakaw wins. Although it was close it was not nearly close to being a draw. Funny how Buakaw always gets asked to fight Muay Thai outside of Thailand with the typical request of no elbows allowed, lol
Georgio didn't win or draw in that fight and got away with no elbows. He is good but Buakaw is better especially when you are fighting real Muay Thai.
@mikedowney44 You do know Giorgio was 21 year old when this fight happened right? He was a baby...Pretty embarrassing that Buakaw barely beat a 21 year old inexperienced kid in modified thai rules...Embarrassing performance.
@yobro250 and Buakaw was what? 25? Muay Thai rules include elbows...did you see any elbows in this fight? Not Muay Thai rules, elbows were taken out in Georgio's favor probably because he requested it to make it more fair for him against Buakaw. Buakaw was a kid when he was dominating the world's top fighters, and Georgio does the same because they are both fantastic fighters, although Georgio still lost either way in this fight they called a draw which was a robbery of Buakaw.
@mikedowney44 Buakaw was 25 and had tons of experience fighting the worlds best...Giorgio was still pretty inexperienced in this fight and also took it on short notice( JWP was supposed to fight but got injured).. 21 years old and an inexperienced kid
Giorgio had not yet fought any elite guys at this point...This was his very first elite fighter and he honestly did very well even through he lost..Nowadays he is very experienced and beats Buakaw
@yobro250 Elbows were allowed in this fight, the fighters just chose to throw none, if you listen to the commentary they say the fight is under full blown muay thai rules and at 7:58 one of the commentators mentions elbows saying petrosyan should throw some. Also the thai music in the background which is only played in thai boxing fights.
@yobro250 lol you always say Petro will beat Buakaw, but if you have to bet your life on it, I bet you don't dare.(Don't say I dare) Buakaw probable forgot how to throw knees and elbows and this point.
Michale Schiavello continues to repeat "Buakw isn't in his best condition. This is not the Buakaw we usally see" I really don't understand, Is he forgetting who's the opponent? This is not the usually Buakaw, ok...And his opponent? What about "King Giorgio"? Everyfighter isn't in his best when is fighting against Giorgio "the doctor" Petrosyan. I definitly think Giorgio won this match, Buakaw dominates only in the first and second round.
They also mention @ 7:42 in the last round how Georgio should start throwing headbutts and elbows in order to win because he was so far behind, also saying he should go for the hail mary show, which means one big knock out punch to be able to turn the fight around to win.
@mikedowney44 They do not say that at all..Way to completely make up something that was never said...They said that Petro being extremely young( only 21 years old) and slightly behind should just go for broke and hope to get the win and even if he gets caught...it doesn't matter as he is so young and inexperienced
Buakaw barely beat a 21 year old inexperienced kid in Petro in THAI rule..Imagine what would happen nowadays..Petro is not a young 21 year old anymore and now has tons of experience.
Nowadays the best fighters in the world are 20-25 years old so age doesnt make any difference u imbeciles
