Funny how meerkats get their asses kicked by snakes all the time. I mean it's not funny, but odd. If they are a part of the mongoose family it's ironic that their cousins kill snakes as a main part of the diet, and yet they (meerkats) are a staple diet of snakes. Just a weird irony.

i've never heard mongoose and meerkats being related. they obviously come from a common ancester, but they're two totally different species.

well i looked it up and was wrong, meerkats are in the herpestidae family, which is a small mongoose. i guess they're herpivores, which would be snake eaters and such, that's where the herp comes from. or it could be because of their slender snakelike bodies.

either way, interesting creature with it's pack or gang mentality.

"Mongoose" is the race... like "pittbull"

mongooses are recognised on thier stripes on the back. and like "The whiskers" known from tv they are meerkats. the mongoose is a born killer and can take down any thin skinned animal thats equal to or below 3 times its weight. and yes. they are sort of cool :)

Actually, they both belong to the 'Mongoose' family (Herpestidae), so a Meerkat is a Mongoose but a Mongoose is not necessarily a Meerkat.

They are related, but the film showed a pair of giraffes, which are African. So that would make it a young jackal, as the dingo is Australian. I have no idea of what the range of the banded mongoose might be.

i dont think they live in texas. a dog wouldnt catch a mongoose either it lacks terrain capability. as soon as the mongoose would have any doodads or clutter the dogs would eventually not catch it. try putting meat with poison. i see no way to kill these like shooting or biting so you should definately lay a trap of some sort

That would not be a wise choice, coyotes are ferocious and will outright kill your dogs just because they are rival members of the canine family, coyotes may be small but they often gain the advantage by sheer number, and no dog accustomed to civilization could ever compare to the incredibly brutal nature of a wild dog.
