to all the fucking nowaday posers, with all your gear, put a fucking strat ( or any old school guitar) in an old valve amp at full blast volume, that's the only way to play guitar
This is the best song I ever heard!. I first listen it on my eighteen!. I am living the music as much intense as I was living in my youth! I have my eighteen when I am listening it!
Beautiful sound magic times LOVE those 70's memories so luckt to see em LIVE!! We now realise that DP and Uriah Heep, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Cream, Jimi H, AND Bad Co were so fking good its all I want to listen too its my blood.
I didn't do the video, I did the audio. I'm the only one who recorded it direct from the broadcast, so it sounds exacty like the broadcast! If I can put the audio to a decent video we'll have a product bigger than Classic Rock.
@hypertensao - You are correct. That is Glenn Hughes. In fact he is still doing that scream with his new Band Black Country Communion. I figured that much torture on the vocal cords and he would be done. He isn't!
I did the broadcast for California Jam. It's bigger than rock 'n roll! And thank goodness this video doesn't have that hideous "california jam fan club" logo on it. Otherwise I wouldn't want it.
@ratbatblu Same reason for why a lot of people will not say much about Malmsteen, they are both arrogant and full of themselves, but I really don't see what that has to do with their skill. Yngwie doesn't really have much skill to begin with so that comparing doesn't make as much sense.
Rainbow meant the sign for people for all colors races and religions. Now it has a different meaning. The color purple meant Peace those days. Now it has a different meaning.
Digital, formulas, computerized and totally lacking a soul Vs. raw talent, imagination and bloody heart and soul. I can't think of ONE band that puts forth this kind of raw and intense emotion on stage today. When Hughes and Coverdale took over for Glover and Gillan, DP became a new kind of "heavy". The Burn album blew a lot of minds and IMHO they could have easily competed with Zeppelin in stage presence and musicianship.
Deep Purple set a standard for future hard rock acts, at least the ones who have talent. Speaking of the talent philosophy, you have got to check out this new band Den Of Thieves! These guys are amazing! The guitarist reminds me of the style of Robin Trower and Ritchie Blackmore. Its called "Killing For Love".
@ Artsjurt; they are different for example look at Queen studio recorded songs versus live; it's like a different band a different set of songs almost day and night
Artsjurt, yes but you have in mind a studio recording; 99% live sucks as compared to studio, in the latter they have all these effects and mixing and countervoice; in LIVE you are on your own pal
compare Freddie & Queen Live versus studio, that was why Freddie very cleverly flooded with moves and showmanship, to cover the lesser music quality of live as compared to STUDIO !
the lead singer here is David Coverdale who later on became solo Whitesnake Here I Go Again On My Own; but Glenn Hughes the Bass guitar voice singing hi hi kicks arsse; notice also Jon Lord hammond keyboard doing lots of John Sebastian Bach
@kyhber Yeah mate, 'Hughesy' adds another dimension. I remember a thousand years ago when I first heard this track and them high pitched howls, I said "fuck, that David Coverdale sure has some voice" but it turned out to be Glenn Hughes of course!
Hey 'deeppurpleos' - thanks for the video man. I hate gettin' old and I hate missin' out on the FUCKING GREAT DAYS we had back then, but while people like you keep posting legendary stuff like this, then I can still dream a little.
By the way all you Purple fanatics (Dave - I know you'd be saying "WTF?") but the very next day after the frisbee throwing, I went out and bought the album again. I've still got it today. I'll never throw it away again!!!!!!!!!
It was 30-odd years ago when as an angry & most likely stoned teenager, I used my "Made In Europe" LP for a frisbee - shattering it against a wall.
WHY?
Because I just heard that Deep Purple were quitting & the greatest band in MY world was to be no more. I had the shits BIG TIME. When the MkII combo made a comeback in 84, Purple once again became the champions of 'British Metal' and I was once again one contented fucker.
@MRCLINTFLICK Great story MRCLINTFLICK, you had me cracking up. Yea, the things we do when we were young (ain't got a patch on what we get up to now). Glad you are a contented fucker now.
WOW!!! So great are Deep Purple. Coverdale's voice is amazing. M3 carried on the Purple legend with brilliant songs like this. Deep Purple were the best.

IN 74 the rainbow was associated with "MAGIC"mushrooms. plus it looked cool on color t.v.

Thanks for this upload. This is real rock history. And with the true sound of the band at its best in this period.
Every setup through the years had its ups and not so good periods. Every thing else would have made it all very boring.
The Coverdale period peaked right here.
