  • but can it play mw3

  • I still have my old ColecoVision, along with the steering wheel attachment, and several games, in a box in my basement. It still works, too. Haven't played it in years, though.

  • 0.o ... Now with multiple screens. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

  • I had one of these, My grandad gave it me when i was like 7-8. Am now 32 ha. Classic

  • I played Zaxxon...

  • the Keypad was for games like Blackjack Poker, it also let you select players & difficulty levels for most games at start up. you could could also use it to call friends with the colecovision phone adapter.....

  • i had a coleco system as a kid but the stupid power supply died and i could not find another one.

  • You needed it for games like Mouse Trap.... If I remember correctly. Hell, thanks for this upload.

  • Why the joypad looks like a huge cellphone? LOL

  • 15 screens! Oh boy!

  • Berzerk rocked! BZZZZ BZZZ BZZZZZ I'm going to Ebay for a Coleco Vision now

  • @VirginiaBeachNative Good luck. I collect video games and my Colecovision which was cheap was 95 bucks

  • I remember my colecovision......and I had the attachment to play Atari games too. The controllers did suck tho

  • wow

  • The games like Donkey Kong and Zaxxon were pretty close to the arcade originals. But face it, the Colecovision controllers sucked!

  • fuck 3d! this shit THREW its graphics out the tv at you!

  • 15 screens? HORRY SHIIEET

  • I remember a friend having Colecovision. We'd play Zaxxon (spelling?) for hours. My recollection is of better graphics though, perhaps I'm viewing my memories through the lens of current technology!

  • And thus began child obesity!!

  • @PleaseCrySomeMore lulz at your lame trolling attempt.

  • 15 screens!

  • Viva la Atari 2600!!!

  • Can't find one of these motherfuckers to pre-order anywhere, WTF??

  • Comment removed

  • I took my Colecovision back to the store. I was mad because things weren't flying out of my screen. The commercial clearly shows spaceships and stuff flying out the screen, but mine didn't do that. It was defective.

  • You know whats weird. I remember as a kid going to my friends house when he had this and I had the Atari. And I remember thinking to my self. "Crap, I hate been poor" 30+ years later I bought a Playstation 1 and I go to new friends house and he has the Playstation 3 and once again I say "Crap, I hate been poor." Why is history repeating itself?

  • @Ratacon2004 Tell me about it,Im going broke now trying to get the Video Games Systems I never could get when I was a kid !

Got a nice collection now but Im 45(Geeze)!

Think of all the (friends) I would have had at 14 with all this stuff LOL!

  • I wonder how much someone will pay for this idf it was in mint condition?

  • All of these controllers look confusing to try out @ 1st, but people in the 80's actually experienced it before.

  • the ound at the end is FUCKING AWESOME!

  • I LOVE (And still have in working condition) my ColecoVision! Awesome system. It was the first system where the home games actually looked like the original arcade versions. I had tons of the game, plus the Atari 2600 adapter, so I doubled my game catalog. :D I will forever have a soft spot in my heart for my ColecoVision.

    Cheers.

  • this was the nintendo fist system right

  • aguante el peteco

  • wow! the graphics are some awesome!that was hd!

  • @Tiloubrunet HD means high definition...thats 1080p (1980x1080 pixel) those games were 240p I think or less that is not HD

  • *bleep bloop bleep bloop bleep bloop bleep*

  • 1980s gold

  • WTF you on about dicksplash ???? Moron???? Der

  • At least we had manners back then and didn't call each other "Morons" under little or no provocation.

  • People were just incredibly stupid back then.

How we ever made it into the 21st century is amazing.

  • @Niomidead No, people are more stupid now than ever. How we still are making it through everyday is unexplained.

  • Games were great then.

  • @freethoughtmusic

Games sucked back then, you moron.

  • 15 screens!

  • @sucuRom I cannot agree more, the c64 was the best machine ever!!!!

  • @MrJonnyboy73

Right, it cant hold a candle to Xbox.

    Moron.

  • we are have shitty grapichs

  • Commodore 64 for life.

  • Atari > ColecoVision > Intellivision

  • and this commercial still doesnt explain what the number pad is for

  • @samuel7897 LOL! What WAS that number pad for?! Had one back in 1982 and loved pressing the number pad...albeit to no effect whatsoever!

  • @MattHatter AWWW. that sads ;(

  • @SuperFlashDriver Yeah I'd just sit there, pressing away, sometimes I'd pretend I was talking on a phone just to entertain myself. LOL.

  • @MattHatter I would do that too if I had that system.

  • @samuel7897 Who cares, they still let you bring the arcade experience to home, cause their vision is our vision, Coleco Vision :)

  • @samuel7897 each number was like an item or option on the screen. Like elevator level 3 or 4. most games didn't use it. * and # together reset the system if I remember right. and some games one of them let you pause the game.

  • @samuel7897 lol Not really sure myself and I owned one . hahah I do know that Wargames had an overlay that slid over the keypad but , that's the only game I had that used it . The super action controller came out and I think they kind of scrubbed the idea of using the number keypad on the regular controller .

  • You probably needed a video Card in your TV for this shit :D

  • Wow, this thing was way better than the atari 2600

  • Now thats og 3D...

  • @iwanabrawl I agree with u u were just kidding

  • @swimmer619 well try it out

  • These graphics are SICK!!

  • @jameson1231000 Yeah i was about to throw up too... XD jk

  • they should've advertised that you could unplug the Colecovision controller and plug in an Atari 2600 controller

  • MY GOD 3D??? 1980??YES SURREAL VERY GOOD COLECONVISION FOREVER!!!! ADOREI MUITO BOM É PARA SEMPRE, SI MUCHO BUENO GRASIAS THANKS OBRIGADO VALEU.

  • Never heard bout it till I seen south park when the boys had slumber party at kennys house and asked if they had a nintendo and no just a colecovision on the black and white xD funny stuff

  • Those were the days before disclaimers, like, images are simulated, they aren't actually in 3D.

  • The arcade gamer's games console

  • a leather company was making video game consoles?

yeah shows how weird the 80's were.

  • @dexdex1560 Coleco by 1980 was an established toy maker. No stranger than Mattel making the Intellivision.

  • Y' know they said "ARCADE" like 15 times in this commercial. This is no mistake. The greatest thing you could possibly have in home technology is games that looked and played as well as the arcade. It was the standard we all hoped they would aspire to.

  • @handymandan100 At the time, this was a critical selling point. All the home versions of games for the already established systems were notably inferior than their arcade forefathers (Pacman for the 2600 anyone?). Colecovision was the first cartridge based console with the power to re-create the games exactly as they played in an arcade. Game quality was also an important selling point as the Atari 2600 at the time was having it's market saturated by crappy third party titles.

  • @TheLastBrainLeft indeed.

  • What???

    I loved the coleco controllers.

  • @summer20105707

The biggest problem with them was probably durability.

The plastic (or something) down inside of the joysticks would deteriorate over time, and you would start hearing/feeling a LOT of creaking and cracking while you use it.

The Atari/Commodore controllers were far more durable.

  • @SgtPiggie

Coleco also made a Atari 2600 clone called the Gemini. And I swear to you the controllers on the Gemini are amazing. Great handling but very sensitive.

  • I remember the Colecovision pissed on all its rivals back in the early 80;s but OMG what a shitty controller...Atari's was way better!

  • how many times did they say arcade?

  • 80's were the Arcade port mania, 90's were the platform era, the new millenium is First person shooter, the next decade is...???? God please stop it with FPS on console!

  • @tkoizumi

You know the Arcade is still a unique experience. When I think of the arcade I think of loud stereo arcade games like Star Wars, Robocop or NARC. In those wonderful smoke filled arcade rooms with pool tables and dart boards. I must have spent hours playing street fighter 2 and Superman. It was a great place to shoot the breeze with friends and just chill out after school and homework.

  • @tkoizumi I think the first half of the decade will be more FPS. Then... I don't know. I have a feeling that the gap between home and handheld is going to shrink. Which is sad, really.

  • @tkoizumi What does FPS stands for?

  • @SuperFlashDriver im guessing "First Person Shooter" suppose to stand for "Frames Per Second" but more use to describe a type of game style.

  • @SuperFlashDriver First person shooter.

  • @tkoizumi maybe 3d games ? with consoles such as the nintendo 3ds

  • @tkoizumi

The next decade is getting fit with Kinect and Wii Fit, YOU FAT SLOBBS!

  • @tkoizumi Next decade is here now: kids without an attention span.

  • fuck

    in mint

  • I feel Hella Old watching this!! I use to be hooked on my ColecoVision like it was crack! In fact, even though it doesn't work anymore and hasn't for YEARS, I still have it. Call me a "Hoarder" I guess. I use to love the fact that i could play my Atari 2600 games on it as well.

  • The X BOX of the 80s!

  • @TourDeFlexTVJC3

    No, that was the MSX.

  • @TourDeFlexTVJC3 More like the Wii. It only played games, but you had to have a bunch of accessories. The Wii needs a device to play GCN games, the Colecovision needed a device for Atari 2600 games, they both having steering wheels that require the original controller, the graphics weren't the best of its generation as Master System offered the best 8 bit graphics, so it's defiitely the Wii. Everyone wanted one, but in two years people stopped touching it.

  • @WebVMan Master System and Colecovision weren't the same generation though. Master system came out in 1986 and Colecovision is a pre-Video game crash era system.

  • oh gosh! I can't wait for this to come out!!! :D

  • My very first console I ever owned around 1986, well after the market crash... the family got a lot of mileage out of it. My folks threw it out about 12 years ago as it sat in the filthy basement collecting dirt and dust. Just bought another Colecovision last week from eBay and couldn't be happier to have it back in my life. :D

  • Call of duty has 15 screens!

  • Oh and I forgot to mention Cosmic Avenger.

  • Colecovision was so great. If only Atari hadn't had exclusive licenses to so many games it would have been unstoppable. It was a system way ahead of its time. I was always jealous of any kid who had one. Some of my favorites for this system include carnival, mousetrap, venture, pepper ii, donkey kong, donkey kong jr, zaxxon, ladybug, mr. do, and gorf. It is sad that so many of today's kids don't know about this system.

  • @80sGiraffe My two favorite games were Burger Time and Time Pilot. Even my mom played Burger Time. Chicks dug that game.

  • my dad and uncles always tell me about their colecovision. one day my uncle said he found it and i was really exited to play it, but when he opend the cardboard box labeled "video games" in my grandmas basement, it was just filled with colecovision accessories. the only coleco-item i have is Q-bet in the box with the manual that my other uncle gave me along with a AV modded atari 7800 and like 40 atari games.

  • games with FIFTEEN SCREENS :O

    do want!

  • Yes it's True Donkey Kong & Mario "he was called Jumpman at the Time". Started out on Colecovision for the North American Market. now you know the Truth so you see how I can't let you just leave.....!

  • So Coleco is about playing arcade games? :)

  • remeber the old colecovision from the 80s well now you have the "SUPER COLECOVISION POWER X MODEL 2 ALPHA MEGA STICK 24" at your local game stop now

  • It still amazes me that ConLeCo is short for Connecticut Leather Company

  • It uses numbers instead of letters.

  • I remember wanting a ColecoVision as a kid, but my parents thought that Atari should last me for life.

"How do we know they won't just come out with ANOTHER system in ten years that you'll want?"

    sigh...

  • Holy shit! That shit's coming right at 'em!

  • @rrrjjjmmm100 ..WOW !! that was strangely arousing...how old were you ? too young to take advantage of that situation ? =)

  • Comment removed

  • @rrrjjjmmm100 ..oh man !! that's an awesome teenage story ! All my sisters friends were all fat and ugly !! =( ..there was a girl next door though......

  • @rrrjjjmmm100

What did he say to you? Was he mad?

  • @rrrjjjmmm100 nice joystick! she probably had a cartridge up her arse also!

  • @rrrjjjmmm100 Spill it. You got all us guys hook on your lil story now. What happened afterward?

  • I hated the controllers, they were so uncomfortable. I also had the ADAM computer.. It sucked.

  • @Network23549

It's possible to use the Sega Genesis controllers instead.

  • 15 MOTHERFUCKING SCREENS!!!!!!!

  • One word says it all:

    WANT

  • AHHHH The good ole 80's commercials.

  • i cut alot of grass to get one!!!

  • My spoiled cousin had a ColecoVision..... how i really hate him.

  • @catch22yo Don't hate. The Colecovision only had two years worth of games.

  • I STILL have my colecovision!

  • The best graphics for the time

  • Free your mind, eat raisins

  • 15 Screens! Jesus Christ!

No I love the Colecovision. OWNS anything after NES era.

  • Screw Coleco.... Atari all the way mofo's!

  • @JeffroTV you do know the colecovision is superior because it can play 2600 games too via an add on

  • @bigM10231 Yeah, but who cares, the controllers were a peice of junk. And they knew it.

  • @JeffroTV you can change them with an atari 2600 or genesis controller

  • @bigM10231

    lol.had it.

was about half the size of the 2600.

    had its own powersupply.

you had to stick it in a slot at the back of the colecovision

  • He said "arcade" 8 times in a 30 second video.

  • @DialgaRock

    arcade were happenin' back then.

so if you refered to arcade a lot, kids were bound to want your product.

  • could I get you to link to this on retrogamersunited . com ?? Would be really cool.

  • wow 15 screens!

  • so they had the tech for spaceships and lazers coming out of the tv instead of putting that to the game console ? wow *sigh* 80s.

  • SERIOUSLY IN THIS DAY IN AGE NOBODY WOULD BUY THIS GAME IT WASNT EVEN VERY POPULER WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT

  • @Iamgueneapig If by "wasn't even very populer" you mean, selling a million consoles in the first 7 months, along with 8 million licensed games.... Maybe "populer" is the opposite of popular. Heck, the CV still sold like mad, despite costing significantly more than the Atari 2600. But, what do I know...

  • @nebby6 yes back then it was populer now its not at all

  • @Iamgueneapig Of course it isn't.

  • @Iamgueneapig Are you mad? It was THE thing every boy wanted for Christmas in 1982 and for three years it was THE console to have. The Colecovision, from a technical standpoint was SUPERIOR to the NES (except for the controller). The NES, though it dominated the late 80's/early 90's market, was still based on a machine first built in 1980.

  • @TheLastBrainLeft He's more than mad, he is certifiable if he thinks the Colecovision was a fly by night nothing console. Fuck the guy, he is clueless ;)

  • @Iamgueneapig Do you just spit shit out even when you know nothing about it just so you can sound "informed?". The Coleco was big back then, maybe not in your country or area at the time but it huge elsewhere in the world as were machines like the ZX Spectrum, Atari ST & Amiga.

  • @blade004 do you just reply to stuff and I got the biggest linked comment :Dc

  • @Iamgueneapig What?

  • I think he said Arcade 20 times...

  • how many times did he just say arcade?

  • @fgjeffy 8 times

  • yeah I do

  • "15 screens" Did he mean levels? =D

  • @Peddobjoernen Yep. Most games back then were just a single screen at a time (Donkey Kong or Pac Man etc..)then once you passed that one it was on to the next screen.

  • Sure, they make a good commercial! But their originality (is there any?) and controller (Blehck!) SUCKS!

  • your VISION

    is our VISION

    colecoVISION

  • wow this vid was posted almost 5 years ago. time goes fast

  • The only arcade in my small city recently a few months ago closed. I believe On line gaming is killing the Arcade.

  • Wow!!!

  • OMG THE GRAPHICS ARE SO REALISTIC LOL

  • what a stupid ass keypad

  • @0neofthem no! having 12 EXTRA BUTTONS was kinda cool....thats what todays controllers need-more buttons

  • @warelord360

Nope!Sorry, but as a SupremeGameslord I decided it's not your time for a gaming vision.

    Some other time maybe.xd

Seriously though the comercial is at the same time really, really Cool & Mentaly Disabled(a politicly correct term for Retarded).

If only I had 10 bilion years and 10 bilion of whatever curency to buy & play everything(some more than others) on everything.... .

Oh well time for me to try that CT on my 2 screens:-) handheld.

  • WITH FIFTEEN SCEENS! OMG!!11

  • I remenber suddently that I have the first 3D game on Super Nintendo, with "revolutionnary graphics" XD it's "Starwing"

  • It's just like the arcade, bring the arcade experience home, you'll feel like your at the arcade. With arcade-like graphics at the arcade, mr arcade!

  • OH man, those graphics are even better than xbox 360, beotches!

  • was there a module for colecovision to play atari 2600 games ?

  • @buggee1997 Yes, you saw the Nerd's video on it, right?

  • @buggee1997 Yes, but I never understood it. Why pay extra for a device that allowed you to play inferior games? And 2600 games often did not translate well to the Colecovision controller. If I wanted to play 2600 games, I'd just go and get a cheap 2600 or clone console.

I could never last more than 5 minutes playing Asteroids on the Colecovision.

  • tease

  • LOL - I was so sold on this....

  • I have a Colecvision but I need to get it fixed :(

  • the 80's were trying times when it came to comfortable joysticks

  • when I was in 7th grade my dad had a short-lived job at an electronics store that had no customers so he just sat around playing the demo colecovision all day. It wasn't too far from my school so sometimes I'd sit there with him on my lunch break. Good times.

  • lol
