Stalin, Hitler, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, JFK and MLK all in the same video... I understand what they're saying. This is an inteliigent song, an intelligent video. Hope someone else gets what they're really trying to say besides me. Namaste...
ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS "BRILLIANT AND AMAZING" !!! ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER, BY DURAN DURAN.... I REALLY LIKE THE VIDEO THAT YOU PUT WITH IT TOO!!! DURAN FOREVER!!
Fave group of all time. Not because of looks--because of sound. Absolutely awesome, unique, poetic, rich, multitextured, original, upbeat, fun, chic.............................
theres still so much more to duran, theyve been loved since the 70s, and 1980 when simon joined and theyre still going strong, and ive loved them for so long, about 26 years, its all good people, love to them and love to you who love them xx
Other than the fact JT is a great bass player, this song has some depth with all that is going on in this crazy world, don't ya think? And that Ga, not Tx.
I hate that I'm finding these videos now that my Internet speakers are busted.I have been a duran duran fan since 1981 so i know most of theyre songs.I never realized that some of their earliest songs actually had videos to them.Thank you to whomever uploaded them.I have a huge part of my childhood back! :)
I've always liked this song. I don't know why I think of "Catcher in the Rye" when I listen to it. Probably because of how the overlapping lyrics reflect an "unquiet" mind. Your selection of accompanying imagery is well done. Great capture of the sense of disorder and underlying fear some undefined doom that seems to be in the song.
I think JT would give Mark King a run for his money - and I'm a Level 42 fan who thinks Mark King is a very clever bassist! John really never has got the recognition as being a great bass player. But he's up there with the cream i.e. King.
in my opinion one of duran duran`s best and most underated tracks, it has everything, it`s a pity there wasn`t an official video to go with the song , it would have been awesome.
mforse70, you are so right about John being underappreciated. And he's the love of my life STILL! This video is very sad though. I've never connected it with war in my head. To me it's completely about something else. Good job, though!
Thanks so much for posting this. Was a massive Duran Duran fan in the 80s/90s and still am though slightly less frenzied ;o)
Great bass riff. Could never understand why this was never released as a single. Maybe not commercial enough (?), but it was always my absolute favourite on the Rio album...
Think I must have worn out the vinyl playing it every day, until my parents started to rock uncontrollably and dribble with the strain!
John Taylor is incredible right up there with paul mcartney imo.I swear kajagoogoo had an incredible bassist also Nick Beggs. But Duran Duran were all great musicians but Johns bass lines are so crisp and clean ty for the post.
You're exactly right. John Taylor is one of the world's best bass players - there's no question. Put anyone from a rock band against him, JT blows them out of the water by the sheer number of great bass lines he's had over the years.
@mforse70 I loved this band...hardcore. John melted my heart...with those eyes and that HUGE smile...the bass was so hardcore..he was so talented...as was the whole band. I LOVED this song.........I must have went threw 3 tapes of this album in my day!
@mforse70 I se we had a same problem in teen age..lol...I was dying for him OMG..:) but looking back now gotta tell that we had a good taste for men he he.. and we had something nice to look up to. Keep the good work and look for the best, bye XX

Nice video... War is pretty scary =\ It makes me uncomfortable watching videos like this. And also makes me glad I live in a free, good manned country
The ancient statue and surrounding area (called Buddhas of Bamiyan) in the opening and closing scenes throughout this video were destroyed in 2001 by the Taliban. Why? Because the Taliban are a bunch of fuckheads. I'm happy we are eliminating those Taliban fuckers everyday from the face of planet earth. God Bless the USA.

In regulation hats 'n scarves 'n things

There lying in a swimming pool
Searching for the undeniable truth that
A man is just a fool...
