i have never understood why people think compuers will try to take over the world because they have no survival instincts and would gain nothing by doin so
Kasparov said he was cheated because the programmers were updating Deep Blue in the breaks,apparently Kasparov thought he had new strategys that would win.
that's the only we that we will not have to ever go through the Matrix, Irobot, Terminator, etc. But being a one to not bullshit themselves thats the one thing that would seperate us from them because in no way to they now or ever will have a real connection with the real creator. I'm not a religous nut but it is what it is. But this is amazing....amazing.....so many many beautifl things to come out of what we have created. I just pray it would be used for more good than evil. Be blessed...
but where good is evil has been lerking. Just understand that computer are built by humans so that really is humbling within itself, but just as humans evolve on their own so will this new AI that we have just tapped into. One thing that i dont think that computers will never be genuwine appreciation...meaning that even if it could express that emotions towards the ones that created it, could it go beyond that and give the upmost appreation to the ones that created it creators. I believe that
just in a nut shell. We have officailly step into the world of the Jetson era. Just think like this. A man that has been maybe in jail for whatever reason and has been locked up for almost 40 years. Now imagine the way the outside world was when he went in and how it is now. I mean you probaly couldn't tell him that there are real life like AI walking around if he was to get his hands on a freaking Ipad.....its almost scary but its just evolution. But so much good can come out of this....
we are. Just as we make mistakes and learn from them....not all of us but the ones with half a brain "Watson" can also. So just think the few times that it's wrong it would almost be 99.9% sure to not make that same mistake. Can it love? Kind of a weird ass question but just as we "learn" to love i believe a computer can have loveable attributes meaning maybe one day like on Irobot, their might be a computer that has concern to a level to where compasion in obvious
I dont normally post comments but on something this significant it would almost be retarded not to. No pun intended! Speaking on that, i think its amazing that a computer has now reached the point to where it can make us laugh by anwser a question wrong by almost being right, but whats more amazing that it can even comprehend what we're asking. But if you really think about it, it's really not that more complex than our brain. We tend to not give ourself "humans" how special and over complex.
This is really amazing, and I believe it to be the first step in a new direction of AI. I can only dream of working on a project with such an impact on the advancement of technology.
You know what's amazing?? That as one day after this was posted, only 316 people have viewed it, and only two people (including myself) have commented on it (and neither comment was particularly insightful/intelligent/thought-provoking)....
Considering the (to me) amazing technological achievement that Watson represents, I would have thought that many more people would have wanted to learn about his creation and would have been stimulated to comment. Oh well, human wrong, once again....

@1funnygame but you can program them to do it. Kinda obvious isnt it?

The future will either be really good or really bad,and this has as much to do with people as thinking machines...

Humanity does build intelligent machines, after that they will rebel against their masters.

LOL, the Java code in background.
TODO - this class is in serious need of redesign.
method is a mess. We should probably implement ....

one more thing 00:46 is a little unsettling for those who believe in nothing is really by mistake. Just saying!

@grembler
Sure he can love. You know how hot his CPU'es get? Think how warm that body is. Nowadays thats all you need for love.
