Ok, this is important, I believe he got the dimensions for the nullspaces mixed up here. The nullspace of Ax=0 is n dimensional not m, the left nullspace should be m.
All the examples from my notes show this and wikipedia (which cites Strang) also confirms this!

do i need to reduce A all the way to R or does it suffice to stop at U when computing E and the left nullspace? the all-zeros rows will be apparent on both R and U. So U should be enough!
where is the other?why are there only 7 courses with video lecture in mathematics?
