I saw him Christmas Day 1980 at the Kennedy Center. He danced to the Nutcracker. Saw him again with White Oaks Dance Proj. in 1999 in NYC at the New Victory Theatre. I got a chance to meet him outside the theatre by a stairwell, he came over to where I was and stretched like a split to untie and tie both sneakers. I was the only one over by the dark stairwell when he did that.

He had 2 bodyguards waiting there for him as well.

I have seen this variation for over 20 years now, but it still gives me goosebumps.

Misha's Don Quixote variation from "The Turning Point" might be the only better exhibition of athletic, musical and MASCULINE dancing I have seen. (But I can't find it on YouTube lately).

But the difference here is that this performance was LIVE, where "The Turning Point" sequences are edited.

I think this was 1982 or so at the met. I love the way the audience gasps at his first jump. His musicality is superb. And he follows up a pretty damn good variation by PAtrick Bissell.
