I've got my own method for the shadow battle... Lag behind him a bit (but keep moving). When he uses chaos spear, go full speed ahead and he's open to attacks for a few seconds. Homing attack him. It's never failed me.

believe it or not the road acutally does end and then you have to turn around and go back the other way. It can really surprise you. It did the same to me and i died

Weird... i thought that the final battle was when your super sonic and super shadow and the ark is falling toward the earth. Isnt that how it goes.

That's the Last Story Ending (the actual conclusion of the game). This is the Hero Ending. There's also a Dark Ending.

in the shadow fight you can stay behind and wait for him to use chaos spear, then home attack to dodge it and attack shadow easily because he is standing still
