@TheJMSmovies lol He's just playing. When she goes over to him, she gets all worried and such, tells him she didn't mean what she said about his acting (she said it was horrible) and he bats his eyes and wakes up. It's then followed by a song, then guards rush in, arrest him, and you'll just have to see the rest of the movie :D You can watch it online I think.
It amazes me how this movie did not sell when it first came out. Anytime you have 2 amazing, dynamic actors dedicating all their talents to a comedic performance you have pure gold. Garland could really play any role ranging from sweet innocent girl to badass bitch. Plus she is also one of the greatest singers ever as well and a naturally athletic dancer. She was the ultimate triple threat and maybe the greatest entertainer of all-time IMO.
The entire Judy Garland Story begs the question of what sort of "management" she had. She clearly was in an advantageous position being a major asset to MGM. Had she had a formidable agent, she might have been treated better.
For what she earned for MGM, she was more than entited to stock in the company, but never had any. The question remains, why?
It was her mother as well as MGM that got her permanently hooked on those drugs that later made her gravely ill each time she thought she could wean herself off of them but ultimately when to a place far beyond the rainbow where she could finally feel accepted, beautiful and always be young. I miss her so much. I will say this is she's not there, then my friend John Fricke and I are not going lol
Wow! That's an amazing scene. The most amazing thing is that it was probably done in one take, given the near complete demolition of the set. Fantastic!
Amazing what they did with make up back then, and no special effects, more original comedy too, actors who do their stunts too ... honestly, they say TV has advanced in years?!
Wow I didn't know Judy was left handed! She must have loved doing that scene. Hopefully it was all done in one take lol. Poor Gene...he's so funny in this. I'd hate to be the cleanup crew lol.
She was never delicate. She was on drugs from 13 years old, though it partly wasnt her fault, but she also became an alcoholic, attacked her son with a butcher knife and was really violent from her 30's till she died.
I'm glad that both of you have so much interest in learning more about Judy. However, that documentary is based, for the most part, on speculation and Hollywood lore. Please do not take that as fact or a valid reference.
Actually, thanks to her mother she was given uppers and downers from a very young age to get her through the vaudeville days. Metro made it worse, and she wasn't the only child star casualty.
She also wasn't an alcoholic but she was made to look it as she often spent nights out because of her insomnia. And the rumor was she attacked her son when she was in a v. bad state caused by the pills and what is known today as bi-polar disorder. If only she had got the help she needed in the mgm days.
But anyway, we shouldn't look at her problems (or call others fucktards...how divine. Not.) She was an exceptionally talented lady which is reflected today by the people who still remember her.
yeh. well the uppers and downers were speed. "barbituates" i think thts how u spell it lol. anyway, when mixed with alcohol it can cause an accidental overdose, and thats what killed her. She did become an alcoholic because of her
3rd or 4th husband. She did chase her son around her apartment in New York, and she threatened Minelli. Theres a documentary to the right called "what killed judy garland". watch it. and like u sed in ur other comment, she was a wonderful lady and im proud to have

I heard on Wikipedia while filming this, she suffered a nervous breakdown and had to be taken to a private sanitarium.
