There are numeral Diablo books out there but the lore in those books are very scarce. Those are simply parallel stories. If your interested in the cold hard lore, reading those books are not recommended.

On the debate about Hebrew or whatever: Diablo uses "Bible language" because of its mystic connotations in Western culture ('Magi' etc), the same reason it uses heaven and hell. Similarly it uses traditional (i.e. King James) readings of Biblical Hebrew, not actual [Biblical] Hebrew. Hence the 'Bail' stuff, and also things like Abbadon, Acheron, etc which are King James translations of BH. The more you know...

if anyone ever played DIABLO 1 on the Playstation there is an option that is not in the PC Version of the Game, There is a Button that Enters you in so a Selection of Books about the Story before the first Game, About The King and his young Son that was infected by diablos soul stone, about the War between Angels and Demons and all the Lords (Diablo, Baal and the others, you recommend you guys to have a look in to a PSX Copy of Diablo, its Not a Feature you need to unlock its in Main Menu. :)

1: In the ending cinematic to D2 non expansion. Baal says "However, I am not Tyreal" and Marius says "Baal (Bail)

2: In the opening cinematic to D2 Expansion, the barbarian (who looks like he's an extra in Mel Gibsons "Braveheart") looks towards Baals armies and says queitly, "Baal" (Bail).

There may dialogue in D2 and it's expansions that also prove the point, but not enough characters, nor is my memory that good.

Baal pronunciation is Bael or Ba-il. Many people make the mistake of saying Ball because english you cannot hear the difference of Ba-al which sounds like Ball. So when spoken quickly sounds like Ball, and not Ba-al. Beel is another pronunciation of his name, as in Beelzebub or Ba-elzebub.

In the game Diablo its pronounced bail, because its not the biblical Ba'al that we're talking about here. Its a whole different character in a whole different world. We are talking about Sanctuary not Earth.
