  • Never understood the obsession with female players grunting. It's just prudery as far as I'm concerned because Nadal grunts like a dying horse and nobody complains about that. If it was done to put players off then fine, but most of the time it isn't.

Similar to the way British commentators always have a go at Andy Murray for acting like a spoiled brat on court. They always try and pretend that it's somehow affecting his ability to win when the reality is that they just don't like watching it.

  • Pretty bad your wearing that whore bank shirt Henman. Those HSBC motherfuckers are damn crooks.

  • You know I can understand a good grunt if you really planted your feet and put all your steam on it (in fact those times it's almost unavoidable)

  • WOW . Hemnan is the only tanned british in the world LOL

  • WOW . Hemnan is the only tanned british in the world LOL

  • Tim Henman is so manly. A real hero. I like the bit when he wins a point and makes a fist. Usually I go and knock one out.

  • @lionkillingnebbish Have you noticed how Henman IS Jack Dee ? ; the cunt talks and looks like him. Same accent & monotone voice. He's as funny as him as well

  • @TheKenfig fucking right! Especially early in that interview, the voice in particular. Wiki tells me that Henman comes from Oxford and Jack Dee is a Kent cunt. Both seriously dull voices though.

  • @lionkillingnebbish I know, I got a stalk on just watching that clip.

  • There's no proof he was talking about grunting AT ALL! You could have mislead us...

  • grunting in tennis should be banned...and Vuvuzelas in football!!!

  • you can't cut it, its too gain power like in most sports e.g. boxing or weighlifitng. you exhale to get that short burst of power....

  • @goonerNik i do boxing and we dont grunt you can breath out without making too much noise..

  • @tripptytripper I too do boxing and i don't grunt either. I exhale sharply but the principle is there. They do it in tennis to enhance there performance.

the most they could do i suppose is give out warnings every time the grunt isn't so much a grunt and turns to shouting or unnecessary noise

  • @goonerNik how long you been boxing man? you train hard, you competing?

  • Did that guy say "pressure?" Pressure makes you scream like a banshee during every groundstoke?? Interesting...

  • did he ever win a final?

  • @themrduragss Yes, 11 on the ATP tour I think, pretty decent really.

  • Tim Henman is an utter legend, always enjoyed watching him play, even if he wasn't quite in the same league as Samprass or Agassi. Nevertheless, Henman was the people's champion and regardless of what anyone thinks British tennis would have been a lot worse off without him and greg rusedski.

  • haha... right on!!

  • shut up tiiiiiiim

  • I never knew they did this 'grunting' thing because I never watched tennis.....now I have even more reason to never watch tennis.

  • the final, i dont remember which tournament, but it was this year between sharapove and azarenka was just annoing. It seriously disturbed the pleasure you gain when you watch a great female tennis match.

  • azarenka's grunting annoys the crap out of me. Usually grunting occurs when your swinging so fast your just exhaling really hard trying to hit the ball. Azarenka obviously does it to be annoying. She doesn't even sound like she's grunting

  • dont think he shud be telling them not to grunt, some of the greatest players ever grunt, sharapova, serena, nadal etc

  • @irfanulhaq1 No he's right. Nadal does it cause he's actually hitting the ball really hard and he exhales hard during his shots. Serena and Sharapova don't grunt...they scream. I think it's obnoxious cause it probably distracts the other player

  • @irfanulhaq1 shut up

do u actually think a woman can be classified as one of the greatest players ever??

the average serious 16 year old male tennis player is miles ahead of any woman. its a fact. i used to play a shitload. like represented my country in junior davis cup...

women are awful at tennis. its so bad, its actually embaressing. and of course they need to shut the fuck up when theyre BARELY hitting the ball

  • You can talk Timmy boy, I just counted the number of times you said errr in that 47 second long interview! 13 times!! Make your mind up on what you are going to say!!

  • @HalfordNick please dont deviate from the issue with your ad hominem

  • @HalfordNick

Classic! 6 times in 10 seconds too. Good luck with the commentating Timbo!

  • i drunt as well its natural but when it gets to the level of sharapova/azarenka/williams then it is ridiculous and becomes gamesmanship; they are doing it for an advantage. it gets unatural

  • THANK YOU! someone to prove my point :)

  • I wonder if the slags grunt in bed!

  • henman would never grunt

  • Too right, grunting is so off putting to the audience......needs to stop there is no benifit to it, its gamesmanship to put the other player off. Thank god for mute buttons on remotes.

  • Henman and his predecessor Murray are chokers. I've waited so long for a Briton to win Wimbledon and they failed me.

  • @seasonedsevencolors Murray is Henman's predecessor? You mean successor?

  • @isselman2000 oh ya! my mistake...Murray is Henman's successor.

  • er then men grunt too

tell nadal to shut the fuck up too

  • @personify505 When women start making shots like Nadal does then they can grunt

  • @DanimalLawlz what a silly comment

i have watched nadal practice before at RG and he was quiet as a mouse.

  • @personify505 When Nadal is practicing he is not exerting near as much energy/effort and i never grunt usually but if i get into a really good point i tend to sometimes. Grunting does help to an extent, but women WAY overdo it.

  • @kelman221 Nadal and many of the spanish grunt pretty loudly themselves. lets not be hypocrites

  • @dc3fan2003 I do not recall saying Nadal didn't have a noticeable grunt, but it is not overdone to the extent it becomes a distraction. Women seem to do it to purposely be annoying, which should be against the rules.

  • @kelman221 lol its not high pitched but it is surely just as loud as some of the women. cant discriminate one over the other. its just that the women's grunting are more noticeable because the pitch is higher. but its still all very loud. to me, who cares. grunting is not what wins matches at the end of the day

  • @dc3fan2003 I agree with you fully, grunting doesn't win or lose matches, but it when it is very loud it bother s me :).

  • @kelman221 i will say that some grunting does bother me. but honestly, i think it adds to the drama. it can be overdone a bit at times but all in all, the tennis that accompanies it is what keeps me watching.

  • @dc3fan2003 Like when Maria screams at every shot, even when they are just average shots, it bothers me to a great extent.

  • Canadian and American researchers said tests had shown that "extraneous sound interfered with participants' performance, making their responses both slower and less accurate. Some top tennis stars, including Martina Navratilova, regard grunting as unfair, or even as cheating.

  • 0:30 OWNED GO HENMAN

  • It would be so ridiculous if they were to "ban" grunting. It's a natural sound and I've found it hard to control at times. First of all, I'm male, and it only comes out once in a while, but still... I do agree that Venus and ESPECIALLY Sharapova can overdo it, but most of the top women grunt anyway, so what can you do? Like Seles said, forcing yourself not to grunt would take your focus off the actual game, essentially causing a person to be fighting two battles at once.

  • @cristalfur no its not. what those woman do is not grunting. yes "grunting" is natural and i have no problem with grunting. but when you get to the likes of sharapova. williams sisters and in some instances nadal they are yelling and its not natural. when you measure a lions roar at 110 decibels and marias is 101, s. williams 88.9, L. davenport 88, V williams 85. and what henman says is true, if they dont do it in practice they shouldnt do it in a match and obv dont need to do it

  • @AceGuitarR7 when did davenport every grunt?

  • @cristalfur i also find that they grunt more when they are losing.

  • well grunting is supposed to help nerves and tension during matches

  • They love to grunt - especially when they take it up the arse

  • Grunting females is the only reason to watch womens tennis.

  • @bricar2 lol

  • women tend to grunt over most things, they find it easier than drawing on a wealth of words like young Timmy Henman.

  • Don't they have dentists over in Great Britain?

Come on man, you're a millionaire and your teeth look like railroad tracks.

  • @pm512 : Perhaps he has more important things to do with his time and money than to buy a phoney plastic smile. Reading for example is very popular in Great Britain, perhaps he likes to read a good book. I hear eating is very popular in the States.

  • Sorry but the grunts are so irritating, and it's not like they're playing best of 5 to even be tired enough to grunt, womens tennis is a phyiscal joke!

You'll never see a game like Isner and Mahuit in the womens game!

  • Imagine a female player saying the same sort of things about the male players who grunt. What would the reaction be?

  • Henman is so dumb... " They don't do it in practice, so why do they do it in a match?"

ANSWER: In practice, they aren't hitting the ball near the high speed they are in a match... dumbass...

  • @RafaelJankovic I think a former professional tennis player would know about how much effort players put into their shots in practice. If they go too easy in training then they wouldn't be accurately simulating match play, meaning that it wouldn't really be practice.

  • @RafaelJankovic Henman could kick your ass all over the court. Show some respect!

  • At 0:10 Henman says it's "not particularly attractive". This fellow must never have heard Sharapova's 'grunt'. It's ...well, It is...uh..."particularly attractive".

  • The epitome, perhaps, of the chinless wonder. I bet he weeps during sex.

  • One of the many reasons I barely even pay attention to women's tennis.

  • I don't know why some people in here are slating Henman for this, all he was saying is that they should stop or at least tone it down because it reduces the spectator's enjoyment, which is an important thing to consider in sport since that is where most of revenue both comes from and comes from as a result of them watching (advertising, TV contracts etc.). He isn't being a dick about it, he is actually being polite about an issue where some people in the same position may have been more vulgar.

  • womens tennis is shit because of this.

  • You know, err (repeated how many times?)... lol

  • 'yeah, it's bad news'. classic

  • @debenny1 yeah, it's bad news. how i miss tim!

  • I don't think grunting is a problem but when it reaches the level of screaming i.e. Sharapova, Williams, etc it sure DOES become a problem. I for one hope they ban it.

  • i dont think u could ever ban grunting...what kind of rulebook would u hold to it? if u make noise above a certain decibel level, its a grunt? therefore, i dont ever see it being banned. its not possible

  • @dc3fan2003

Screaming should be banned i.e. what Sharapova, de Brito et al. do. There is a difference between grunting like Nadal and screaming like Sharapova.

  • i totally agree. all im saying is, how would one make that distinction in a match? a grunt from a scream? and de Brito clearly screams....sharapova and venus roar lol. so as an chair umpire, what should they be hearing for when players grunt/roar/scream to differentiate? one cant...which is why i said i dont think it could ever be banned justifiably

  • @dc3fan2003

    Common sense, really.

Wouldn't you agree there is a difference between a grunt i.e. "erhhh" and a scream i.e. "hmaaaaaaaaaa"

Again, I think Venus and Sharapova clearly scream. But the thing is, they do not ALWAYS do that. They only do it at crucial times and I have no doubt it can be very off-putting to their opponents. I just don't buy the excuse of "it focuses their concentration more"

You don't have to scream like you are being slaughtered to concentrate.

  • unless u are a tennis player, i dont think one would understand. even the commentators notice that sharapova and venus do better when they are grunting.....their grunts do not bother me....now de Brito...she needs to be banned lol. thats a high pitch squeal that she has lol

  • I agree with you, I think they should get their warning first then lost points.

The screeching is taught.....its just away to put the other person off.

    Puts me off watching....

  • I agree, not only that, but screaming loud when hitting the ball, also makes you waste a lot of energy..

  • stag.

  • i agree BrotherTree and Onyx and a few others that have pointed out that the men grunt too....especially at the french open! a lot of the spanish players grunt, like Fernando Gonzalez, Verdasco, etc. And Tim Henman has been known to grunt too...and Federer. so ppl need to understand its just part of the game. if u hit the ball hard, ur gonna exhale loudly. simple as that

  • henman cant talk. he grunts when he played too.

  • Why is all the focus on the girls? There are plenty of guys who grunt as well. (Nadal, Djokovic, Gonzales etc) No one ever says anything about them. I personally don't care either way. As long as it's a good match they can grunt, shriek or scream bloody murder for all I care. If people are so bothered by it then don't watch the match. Every player has their own quirks, habits and rituals. I myself would prefer not to see Nadal pick his butt everytime he serves. We can't always get what we want.

  • In my honest opinion, any one of these idiots commenting this video who doesn't find grunting detestable and abhorrent should be forced to watch the Williams play doubles against Sharapova and Larcher De Brito, so the rest of us can piss ourselves laughing while they listen in abject horror. Simply put, grunting needs to end - now!

  • THEN WHY DO GUYS GRUNT IN ORGASMS??? jk

  • But Tim, do they play that hard in training for such a prolonged period of time... If they win that training "match" do they get a Grand Slam? I'm not saying grunting is right, but it's to be expected.

  • practice like you play.

if they hold back in practice whats the point of practicing?

  • no professional athlete puts 110% in practice lol. otherwise they'd be burnt out before they even play

  • So why shouldn't the GUYS cut out the grunting too? Eh? Why only the girls? What's good for the goose is good for the gander!!!

  • FUCK U SLUT

  • There are only a few top ATP players who have a very noticeable grunt such as Nadal/Djokovic/etc. Use a stop watch and a decibel measurer. These female grunters such as Sharapova/De Brito/Williams sisters/among others grunt much longer and at a much higher sound. This isn't a sexist thing, because plenty of former WTA players find it very annoying as well. Also if you notice, these WTA players grunt even when hitting a slice/dropshot! Takes 100% of their strength to do that? That is ludicrous!

  • I mean, if you wanna grunt, do it with class, style and grace. Most grunting WTA players just wanna scream their lungs out, that's what I see

  • I guess, but seriously, when you are grunting/screeching/screaming at the top of your lungs to hit a volley (not a swinging volley) or a dropshot, you KNOW for a fact something is wrong. Sharapova/De Brito/Williams/etc they all scream on every single type of shot. Again, didn't realize hitting a groundstroke and a dropshot required the same amount of strength. I never see any of the ATP players pull this kind of bullshit.

  • grunting (screaming) distracts their opponents more than it helps themselves play better. ya think?

    Hi Joni!

  • omg tim henman he is shit and nobody care what he thinks

  • Bet he'd beat you in a game.

  • yes he wuld, but still he is nobody, never won grand slam never been in final, and some of these girls he is talking about are grand salm champions.

  • Well thats my point right there, he isnt shit is he.

  • If he played in an era as weak as women's tennis is today, he'd probably have won a few.

  • Probably. but why would he be playing against the women? LOL

  • I meant if he played in a men's field as weak as the women's field is today.

  • Suppose but mens tennis is never as weak as womans tennis tbh

  • Generally yes, but I think there may have been a few occasions when the women's field was (relatively speaking, of course) better than the men's. Late 90's to early 00's might have been one such period.

  • I didnt really follow tennis then so I wouldnt know :)

  • Ah OK. During that time men's tennis was in a transition period after Sampras' decline and before Federer's rise. On the other hand, there was a lot of depth in the WTA. The likes of Hingis, Davenport, Capriati, Serena, Venus all at their peaks, and Henin, Clijsters and Mauresmo were all pretty good too. They were definitely interesting times. :)

  • Ahh unfortunatley I was only around about 6 years old then and was only interested in cartoons, shame though cause if I'd of liked it then I'd probably be a lot better at it now LOL

  • Haha yeah, I wish I was into tennis at an early age too. Although I'm not too much older than you are. Hopefully. XD

  • Well I'm 15, what about you?

  • I'm 21. Shouldn't be too different, I hope.

  • Erm not really only 6 years LOL

  • Yeah I know, but times go fast and everything change so quickly these days.

  • LOL suppose, well I'm going to tennis now as it goes, got practice and it takes a while to walk there, bye bye.

  • OK, see ya. Nice to meet you.

  • Um, "gwunting".

  • NICE TEETH BRO!

  • People grunt to force yourself to breathe, it helps calm the nerves and gives you rhythm. But in retrospect I believe Sharapova grunts to try to kill her opponents by exploding their heads.

  • i think it happens that some people grunt when they hit the ball, im a man and i sometimes do when i have to run a lot to catch a ball or when im serving at the end of a long game... but like henman says they dont need to grunt on every single hit...

  • it's nice of you to offer your expert opinion but i'm agreeing with the proffesional tennis player on this.

  • I'm no fan of Henman, but he's so right in this issue it's not even funny.

  • I miss Tim playing...

  • I've never thought much of Tim Henman as a player but he presents himself rather well in front of a camera (Leyton Hewitt clearly needs to attend the Henman school of public representation). He just came up with the best response i've heard in respect to the girls grunting issue. "they don't do it in practice so why do it in a match?". Some one should ask the offending girls that in an interview and not take "match pressure" as an answer.

  • AHHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHHAHA one thing comes to my mind: Maria Sharapova. She's not the only one though. But who cares, she's pretty.

  • loooll i love him

They dont do it on practice so why do they do it in the match! haha so true

  • Oh no, that woman just made a terrific pass cross-court which I might have enjoyed had she not been grunting!

Seriously, Tim Henman is a baby, as are the rest of you.

  • If Murray can get fined for saying "C'mon, pass!" (the umpire made an obvious mistake there), surely the grunting - well, 'screeching' is probably closer to the mark - can be fined for such an unpleasant audio distraction? It IS rather annoying and it's one of the reasons why I don't particularly enjoy women's tennis anymore.

  • You tell them old chap. And besides, women play in LADIES single, ladies, so why are they constantly grunting like animals?

  • How did Tim find time to stop bagging groceries and do this interview? During this interview he won just as many majors as he did during his tennis career. Your ten minutes is up Timothy... stand down and shut up...

  • yet, he managed to achieve 10 times more than you would ever achieve in 10 lifetimes being the useless you - ironic, isn't it ?

  • hahahahahahaha you tube smack talk - stay tough buddy!

  • haha lot of tough guys on here

  • real arrogant and defensive for a guy who talks shit about a professional tennis player.

  • no no no, see now he's a professional grocery bagger

  • i was referring more to the irony of you calling someone an internet tough guy when you...

    Yea, you're a hypocrite.

  • i'm commenting on the video and the person in the video, not talking junk to others commenting... so no, there is no irony, and there is no hypocrisy... I've won just as many major titles as Tim Henman, now thats ironic.

  • Maybe a lil of grunting would of done something for this loser...

  • Given that he made £20m out of his career and was ranked world number 4 - and came from a country that produces very few if any good players - he was hardly a loser.

  • new rule for women's tennis . . . say . . . with every third scream that exceeds a certain predetermined decibel level . . . a garment of clothing will have to be removed . . . can you imagine the ratings bonanza??

  • It's about time someone said something about this... Anyone who's ever seen a Sharapova match and had to endure the shrieking "AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" will know where he's coming from. Nice one, Tim.

  • Thank you Tim Henman!!!!

The blood curdling shrieks make women's tennis unwatchable, especially when the Williams men are playing. I can't think of anything more hideous than LaDanian Tomblinson in a dress. An Spiderman in hoop earrings is as interesting as listening to Dick Enberg say "Oh My" for the Godzillionth time.

  • Obviously the real issue here Tim is alluding to is the fact that only the hot women should be allowed to grunt in an orgasmic fashion during matches - all the uglies should in fact keep very quiet, and be automatically disqualified if they grunt too loudly, so as not to upset or distress any male viewers (Yes Serena, I'm talking to you).

It would also help the women's game if attractive female players were seeded higher, and made to either play in bra and panties or face a large fine penalty.

  • its annoying..sometimes it turns me on tho

  • irelandsgreatest ur a bit retarded. its ok for players to do it a little. just not absolutely shouting your head off

  • Yes wel done, Im clearly a bit retarded for knowin why some players do it.

Wel brains, is it so hard for u to comprehend that the players dont think to themselves "oh I'll shout a lot today, not so much tomorrow, not at all the next"? Its natural for them to do it, so who are you to decide what level is acceptable and what level isnt? Some players dont do it at all at first but in the 3rd or 4th set they'l start, so in your clear infinite wisdom, why do you think this is..? cant wait 2hear this

  • I guess if all the girls started screaming "OH YEAH!" like they were gettin it good that would be Ok? HOw about "OOOH, right there!" would that be ok? What if the guys started yelling "you bitch!". Who are we to decide what is acceptable? WE are society, that's who.

  • Yeah I think that would draw in more spectators but then again they prob wouldnt be welcome in the stuck up world that is tennis!

The guys yelling "you bitch"..? Ehm, some of the language that is deemed 'the adrenaline' is far worse than that! Where is the outcry for foul language to be banned?

I hate to piss on your fire but u do not represent all of society so your opinion is simply that- 1 opinion!

Your missing the point anyway, the players do it for a reason, not just to sound ridiculous

  • I'm not missing your point, you're missing mine. I'm not questioning why they do it.

I'll ask you again, what if all the girls started screaming "OH YEAH, RIGHT THERE!"? By your standards you would be okay with that? It's like when Serena wore that black body suit, and her junk was all over the place. Yeh, she has the right to wear it, but is it appropriate? NO.

  • If u understand why they do it & that its to generate power how can u say its inappropriate? Essentially what ur saying is that its inappropriate to hit the ball as hard as u can if u cant do it quietly? So ur putting a lot of players at a disadvantage, would that make for better tennis?

They can scream what they like for all I care if it helps them play to the best of their ability!

Iv often heard players should "COME ON" or "GET IN" after winning a point, I assume u disapprove of this also?

  • My friend, just to wrap this up. It' s only an issue because their screams make people think of girls having orgasms, can we agree that this is what it comes down to? Karate is a nice comparison, where they say HEEAAAH! If the girls were yelling HEaaaaH that would be fine, but they're not, they're groaning, like an orgasm, and noboby wants to have to block that out of their mind, they just want to watch tennis.

BTW like Henman said, they dont do it in practice.

  • So people think of girls having orgasms, that to me just makes them sound childish! Like a bunch of kids laughin in a sex ed class! So the girls arent actually doing anything wrong.

As I said, players shoutin "GET IN" or "COME ON" could also be taken in a sexual way if u want. And you never told me where the campaign to rid all the bad language is?

As for Tim, does he watch them practise between tournaments, working with their coaches or when they're warming up preparing? 2 different scenarios

  • so basically there is no black or white like u want. but we should use COMMON SENSE

  • so in your opinion its not anyones business to question players about this. about wat level is and is not acceptable. listen use common sense, that 16 year old was dispicable. there is a clear line! unless you want to be austistic about oh irelands greatest.

  • You use some common sense, there's only 2 options-

*Ban players from making any sound when hitting the ball (which hardly any player will accept), or

    *Leave it as it is.

Apart from that, what would you like to do? Install an instrument like the hawkeye to measure how many decibals a player screeches at, the opponent can challenge and if its over a certain level they lose the point?

    I dont thinkso.

Other aspects such as some players bad language is far more inappropriate

  • again being austistic about it. sharapova is not too bad but every normal person would realise when its ott. its very easy. but your reatarded and i respect that

  • LMAO your petty insults ruin your argument as you clearly have no answer.

I have just asked you what would you do about it and you have no answer.

I never said it doesnt sound ridiculous, because it does, I said you cant ban it or in the interest of fair play you have to ban all players from making any screeching sounds regardless of how quiet they are. Try to keep up.

Also try to stick to your argument, now you say Sharapova is not too bad but before the 16yr old she was known as the worst?

  • im sure you were rolling all over the floor laughing but HERE IS MY ANSWER. if its CLEARLY too LOUD. give a CAUTION.. are u with me so far? if its like the young girl give a WARNING. i dont think i can be any more clear.

  • again muppet, who decides what is and isnt too loud? People's interpretations will vary! If its up to the umpire, no 2 will be the same so players will be going into matches unsure of what is legal? Sure, that's a wonderful plan! Sure fuck it, why not take away all the lines and let the umpire decide what he feels was in or out?! Then it can all be decided on the umpire's opinion rather than a written law of the game...good plan!

  • wow. did i say get rid of lines? dont worry ill contribute a little to the autism fund tomorrow, then u might not accuse me of stuff i never said and understand henman

  • Instead of a contribution to an autism fund, you save your penny's and put them towards English lessons so you can read properly. After a few lessons, read my comment again because I never said you said get rid of lines..!!

Try to read the comments slowly and carefully, maybe 3 or 4 times and then reply to what was actually said and dont avoid the points being made to you...

  • should give a caution. thats not avoiding ANYTHING

  • who decides? The umpire?

In order to give a caution there has to be a certain level at which it is deemed OK & anythin past that level is illegal. No 2 umpire's will have exactly the same opinion of what is OK and what is not which means it would be different in every match and the players wil not be fully aware of what is and isnt legal etc etc as Iv already explained! Seriously man, English lessons, read the comments!

u cant have players goin into games unaware of what rules will be enforced

  • oh youve explained? well read my comments bout the umpire giving a caution when its common sense wise ott. era look whatever man .

  • Im actually startin to think u do have special needs or something so if you do, I apologise for being so harsh.

Seriously, common sense? You want a rule enforced that says 'common sense decides' what is legal? Do you not realise rules have to be written and enduced to the game? Once again it would all come down to the umpires own personal opinion which is unfair on all players!!

Look, I know you have ur pride and all that but u cant give me a ligitimate law to be introduced so jus quit diggin

  • What do you mean 'FUCK OFF TIM HENMAN??' Henman is 100% gentleman, there isn't any need for that sort of grunting! Maybe a little like maybe when Nadal does it or federer on a second serve but not AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After every fecking point. Well said Henman, all the anti british suck my balls!

  • be quiet! If Andy Murray let out a roar after every shot it would be OK, it'd be "the way he plays" etc etc but cos people that do it arent Brits its suddenly unacceptable? SO what is that about? Is that not racism?

Also, why is it OK Nadal and Federer can do it a little, enough they need too but nobody else can use it to put full power in their shots?? After all thats what its all about, exhaling at the point of impact to get maximum power, its done in many sports

  • hey "irelandsgreatest" ummmm i don't think he was being racist at all as you said "Nadal and Federer can do it a little", i think he was putting his point across in a nice civilised way and as he said if they do'nt need to in practice when, no doubt, they are trying to perfect the high power shots, why do they have to out in a match??, by the way i mean no disrespect to you.

  • u misunderstand, I meant if Murray did it then it would be acceptable but cos no Brit does it its scandalous! Is that not racist?

What about earlier in Murray's career when every game was littered with his constant swearing? People said "oh he's only young, it wil change in time" wel that De Brito girl is only 16 or 17 yet people are slating her for grunting?!

Also, I find it hard to believe players are putting everythin into every shot practisin b4 a game, they would be exhausted mid-match

  • It's funny because I dont see many players complaining about this. So far only one (Rezai). Maybe because this is a much lesser issue than some people try to make it. It's basically the british press who likes always to have smth to talk about (picking up the grunting issue every single year since Sharapova) or Navratilova who, like someone said, is basically a socialist trying to change the world.

  • I tought Henman had been a professional player. "Why they dont do it on practice and do it on court..." Well, Tim, as you should know, the emotional pressure and intensity it's completly different from practice to court. Why are these brits so conservative? It's annoying? Yes, it's annoying. But serve and volley is annoying and boring too sometimes and people never left the stands or stopped watching Wimbledon because of that.

  • you´re the one who should be quiet Henman

  • FUCK OFF HENMAN.

Grunting often make the game more instense.

  • no it makes more like hardcore porno!
