I learned Saddle making from my Dad, the late Jack Cheaney . I am the fifth generation in my family to make saddles. Saddle making in my family dates back to 1850 to Joseph Madison Cheaney (1808 - 1863). In the 1850 census,he is listed as a saddlemaker, a trade that he passed down to some of his sons.
As far as the metal work it is something I kind of developed on my own.
