kinda stupid test...looks like they spent all this money on equipment when all you really need is a boot a chainsaw and a stump to sit it on..and in reality if the chainsaw does find your boot it will most likely bounce down or up cause of the steel cap boot which could lead to it still cutting your foot :/
Here's the thing... All of this safety equipment is great and wonderful. Regardless of that fact, inattentiveness will get your foot/arm/leg/dick cut off regardless of whether you're wearing "Chainsaw boots," chaps, and the rest of all this expensive safety, "stuff." You can be just as safe with no shirt, a pair of shorts, and tennis shoes. You just have to pay attention to what the hell you're doing.
To get this point straight, this is the required test to fulfill the safety norm required. Its done to avoid injury in case of an accident, not to protect people who try to cut their feet off.
@shinyfuzzy Because there is a difference between an engine and a motor. An engine drives a motor is driven. Thats to say an enginne converts fuel into energy a motor requires energy to work.
@tubefed420 Sought of..... Motors dont convert energy the require or use it, e.g. a starter motor in a car requires energy to turn, once it stops receiving energy it stops.
@tubefed420 WRONG!!. A gasoline engine needs fuel. If I cut the fuel then it would be no different then cutting power to a motor. The chemical potential energy of the fuel is being converted to kinetic energy by a catalyst (i.e spark from a spark plug or extreme heat like diesel).
@natedsmeclipse It would also be so insanely unrealistic if one choose to use a 3 HP AC induction motor powered chainsaw which would NOT bog down like a gas powered chainsaw. It's one thing to talk about universal motor electric powered saws you can buy from your local hardware store that are weak, but AC induction motors are on a whole other level. Example is a 5 HP gas will stall in situations that a 3 HP AC induction motor would not. AC induction motors are torque monsters to the extreme.
they would be around 150 canadian i would think but a regular steel toe with the green csa triangle work fine i know cuz one of my buddies hit his toe once and he still got his toes
yea only bad thing bout steel toes though is the fact that it don't stop the chain could cause the saw to slide down the to and nail your foot. but it's better to risk that than take off all your toes.
screw the chainsaw safety, somebody needs to teach that woman how to use an exacto knife...

That is a motor based chain saw. I'm guessing you meant an engine based saw.
Motor = electric
Engine = gasoline

then why do people call gas motorized things "motorized" instead of enginized? btw im not saying your wrong
