im using reason to create my sound but is it easier to use an outside program to mix it together? I thinky your using garageband?
also, how do you extract the vocals from a song?

we use ableton live and we had the acapella for that song...
there are programs that strip the vox from songs by frequency and phase cancellation but personally, i don't think the end result sounds so good. so search for an acapella
as far as work flow, go for what you know and feel comfortable with.
all these programs are merely tools for you to build the creation...

right now as it stands there are so many great programs available... I try to to get into all the hype but I really dig ableton live for it's slickly fast work flow.
demo some programs for yourself and see what feels right for your music.
