I see all this people complaining about the movie; yes i get it the movie is not like the book (and yeah i have read all 5 books and the 3 "extra" ones). However, it was NOT a bad movie. It was really entertaining to watch and fun and i hope they make the sea of monsters soon. One last thing btw: its not just this movie, EVERY movie based on books is NEVER the same as the book so GET OVER IT!

To be honest, this was a brilliant movie, entertaining.
I haven't read the books so I don't know the in's and out's but I totally agree, there is a massive part of this story missing, it's very easy to see.

This movie is good. The storyline is little bit awfull and seems so rushy, but I like what the director's did. The shot, the angle, and etc. Loyts of action shot. Percy's act was average, storyline is too rushy, but nice movie. Not so good ending. At least it beats the crap out of Harry Potter and Half Blood Prince, coz the director sucks, eventhough the story was awsome. Lucky HP is already have a fans. But this movie is good, I think :)

it was a good movie, the story line was the raising of Kronos they did not mentioned that. Clarisse should have been in movie since she has an important part in second book and last. and Mr. D did not showed up at all !!!! the helm of Hades was not mentioned...i think the only thing like the book was the part with minotaur . not even the talk with Poseidon was not the same. was a good movie anyway...
I'm a fan of the novels. Yeah, the movie completely went off tangeant. To all non-readers, do try & read the books coz it'll explain why we PJ fans are enraged by this (the jokes & many scenes in the books are a hell lot funnier, plot twists in the book are better and not so cliched like the movie). Seriously, Harry Potter sticks to its main plot & left out minor details from the novel... but Percy Jackson completely left out major significances from the novels.
clarisse and the prophecy are the major parts in the book and the age and annabeth's hair is totally messed up! and the part with percy and ares fighting and gabe turning to stone is SUPPOSED to happen. such a disgrace and shame on the screenwriter.

They are changing up all kinds of things in this, annabeth isn;t blond, grover is black, he knows about his abilities in water before he goes to the camp. The pen is a clicker not a capped ballpoint. This is remotly based apon the books.

I thought Grover would be a white guy with a lot of freckles and wavy, long hair. Apparently, the cast director decided otherwise. But, I don`t disagree with his choice- there should be a mixture of races in movies, and from what I noticed from the cast list, Grover`s actor might be the only African-American human playing a large role in The Lightning Thief. Hence, I applaud their choice of Grover`s actor, even though it might have not been what others expected.
I totally agree with that! Everyone's making such a big deal that Grover's black, but really, as long as the actor protrays him properly everthing's fine :)
*Spoiler* from book, the bolt and helm of darkness was stolen and percy recovers it and returns it back to the gods but he doesnt noe that the person who will betrayed him and stole the bolt and helm of darkness is luke lik the oracle said, " You Shall be betrayed by one who calls you friend" and tries to kill percy in the end. i will not release anything else about the movie or the brainwasher and who cause luke to do that in the first place. there is also another thief the ares. haha

That's a good idea. That way the actors won't grow old. They should do it like with lord of the rings. Remember, the Two Towers was actually shot and in the can by the time the Fellowship of the Ring came out.

I saw the whole fight with the hydra online and whatever shield he used was not a watch was something big he attaches to his arm not a watch.That's y it makes me think that maybe is not what Tyson gave him... 5 guys( monsters) become the hydra and attack annabeth Grover and Percy ....then Percy makes a water wall to stop hydra. Very cool btw!

Seriously? WOW. Little details? SERIOUSLY? Suck it up. It's directed by Chris Columbus, and if you've seen the first two Harry Potter movies, you should know that out of all six, the first two are the best when it comes to book-to-movie comparisons. So, while these tiny details are changed, the overall comparison will be amazing. With Annabeth not being blonde- how do you know all the blondes that auditioned were even worthy of the part? It's the acting that counts, not the looks.

This movie is good. The storyline is little bit awfull and seems so rushy, but I like what the director's did. The shot, the angle, and etc. Loyts of action shot. Percy's act was average, storyline is too rushy, but nice movie. Not so good ending. At least it beats the crap out of Harry Potter and Half Blood Prince, coz the director sucks, eventhough the story was awsome. Lucky HP is already have a fans. But this movie is good, I think :)

I never denied that, but they will... they have some room... like 2 inches lol, but it is sadly possible and they will do it... I'm not kidding this is so much better than some... good example is Eragon... now that was horrible with no room for a sequel but i loved the movie for what it was... I was entertained and that's all they care about... that's what u have to set ur mind to when u see these movies forget the books just see if ur enrtained

you're right. alL the movies Ive watched based on books were totalLy different from the books.. And I wish people won't compLain about Percy's age in the movie. Maybe casting a teenager wouLd make more girLs watch it (Logan IS cute).. Atleast it wasn't Like narnia 2, where in the book Caspian was 12 and in the movies he's like in his mid-20's. it was a good movie, the story line was the raising of Kronos they did not mentioned that. Clarisse should have been in movie since she has an important part in second book and last. and Mr. D did not showed up at all !!!! the helm of Hades was not mentioned...i think the only thing like the book was the part with minotaur . not even the talk with Poseidon was not the same. was a good movie anyway...

I'm a fan of the novels. Yeah, the movie completely went off tangeant. To all non-readers, do try & read the books coz it'll explain why we PJ fans are enraged by this (the jokes & many scenes in the books are a hell lot funnier, plot twists in the book are better and not so cliched like the movie). Seriously, Harry Potter sticks to its main plot & left out minor details from the novel... but Percy Jackson completely left out major significances from the novels.

i saw it at midnight... MOVIE FAIL! acting was bad,fight choreography akward, lines cheesy.... just bad movie soooo disappointed, there was no prophecy, no kronos... the whole movie is about pearls...:(
i dont care it wasnt like the book all that much tho... just the movie quality was awful...

@Hottiegirl411 I heard on an interview they picked older people because it was easy to do the fight scenes ,Chris colombus said that it was going to be harder to work and try to train 11 years old kid with swords...and the click pen they did it that way because it worked better for a movie than uncap.Now i did not like at all the Annabeth girl...they tried to make her look all sexy i did not like that.. the movie was good anyway.

They are changing up all kinds of things in this, annabeth isn;t blond, grover is black, he knows about his abilities in water before he goes to the camp. The pen is a clicker not a capped ballpoint. This is remotly based apon the books.

I thought Grover would be a white guy with a lot of freckles and wavy, long hair. Apparently, the cast director decided otherwise. But, I don`t disagree with his choice- there should be a mixture of races in movies, and from what I noticed from the cast list, Grover`s actor might be the only African-American human playing a large role in The Lightning Thief. Hence, I applaud their choice of Grover`s actor, even though it might have not been what others expected.

*Spoiler* from book, the bolt and helm of darkness was stolen and percy recovers it and returns it back to the gods but he doesnt noe that the person who will betrayed him and stole the bolt and helm of darkness is luke lik the oracle said, " You Shall be betrayed by one who calls you friend" and tries to kill percy in the end. i will not release anything else about the movie or the brainwasher and who cause luke to do that in the first place. there is also another thief the ares. haha

hey dude, i read all the books, i got my info RIGHT and if you read what i wrote it says:
'I DON'T THINK''. I saw the whole fight with the hydra online and whatever shield he used was not a watch was something big he attaches to his arm not a watch.That's y it makes me think that maybe is not what Tyson gave him... 5 guys( monsters) become the hydra and attack annabeth Grover and Percy ....then Percy makes a water wall to stop hydra. Very cool btw!

Seriously? WOW. Little details? SERIOUSLY? Suck it up. It's directed by Chris Columbus, and if you've seen the first two Harry Potter movies, you should know that out of all six, the first two are the best when it comes to book-to-movie comparisons. So, while these tiny details are changed, the overall comparison will be amazing. With Annabeth not being blonde- how do you know all the blondes that auditioned were even worthy of the part? It's the acting that counts, not the looks.
