The hit was a penalty but being that Boychuk was hunched over as the hit came in, I don't see why the hearing should result in a suspension. Doesn't look like he threw it out for intent to injure, looked more like a shoulder check that went awry with Boychuk's lowered positioning.

The Pens announcers acted like it was a perfectly clean hit and that Tyutin saw him the whole time. Guess Tyutin has eyes in the back of his head according to Pens fans/announcers. Your allowed to hit the man who may or may not pass the puck within ~2 seconds, not your fault he put himself like that last minute.

While he knew Cooke was there, he didn't know that Cooke was going for a hit when he turned his back (that's what the rule means--when you turn in response to seeing someone going for a hit--not vague knowledge of where a guy is on the ice). Cooke also (obviously) left his feet, so it was an obvious charge.

@ooder1 Watch out for the 'A-Train'. I was really sad when he signed with NJ. Ottawa offered him 20 million$ for 4 years and he signed with NJ for 25 million$ for 5 years. I still don't understand why he didn't sign with Ottawa... it's still an average of 5 million$ per season. However, it's still too much for a guy that don't score alot and block shots. I guess loyalty doesn't exist anymore. Like Daniel Alfredsson, he will always be an Ottawa Senators!! My 2 cents.

Volchenkov doesn't hold up a reputation for delivering dirty hits (the Devils would not have acquired him if he were, it's just not their MO), but, yeah, that was a dirty hit.
um yeah. i'd be after volchenkov too if i just saw him elbow the life out of my teammate. these announcers are no better than any other team
