The 283 and 350 were the best engines GM ever made and most likely will make. Their diesel is not their's, it is from Japan, FACT. Dodge uses Cummins, which is one of the best diesels made and Ford went to one of the best engine designer and builders in the world to help build their's. Everyone has good and bad parts of their cars and trucks. LET IT GO!

damit i want my tbss back now! im geting a few things done to it. i like the jeeps they are slick trucks but when i get my "stock" tbss back thats the second thing im goin to race to see where i stand. first is a big mouth at my brother in laws work with a 06 mustang gt. my truck should run low 13.20s when i get it back and its awd.

I sit here and in my hand is the actual timeslip of that pass, his reaction was .140 and mine was .231, his 1/8 was 8.150 @ 84.11 and mine was 8.536 @ 82.22
He ran a 12.835 and I ran 13.407. Dont forget it was 95 degrees at the track and even hotter down in the lanes this was in the middle of May in Texas so we all were running slower, remember heat and DA make a big factors so yes all those mods were on the TBSS. RIP SHAWN I know your getting a big laugh about this up in Heavan man!!!
Guys as I have said before and mentioned MANY times the mods that are listed were right off Shawns signature section on the TBSS forums. I was there for test n tune for the next days Mopars at the Motorplex event just to see how the jeep ran, first time ever at the track with the jeep. Shawn had been many times in his TBSS, so please quit the freakin bickering out of respect for the owner of the TBSS who passed away. Just to squash some arguments over redlighting
If you re-gear the TBSS to the same as the SRT-8 the race would be pretty damn close stock for stock. the SRT-8 can only tow 3500lbs, a 6cyl S10 can tow that with 210less HP, The TBSS is capable of towing a respectable 6500lbs and still runs high 13's in the quarter. That in my opinion is a true repurposed SUV.

Srt8 would fckn smoke a stock ss. That trailblazer for sure had a twin turbo if it ran a 12.8 cause my gto runs about 13.9 with the exact same motor as the ss but half the weight
Thanks, Shawn is dearly miss that video was the day our friendship started and what an awesome man he was. After that pass we sat out in the parking lot and talked for hours and from then on would text or poke fun on the forums. Shawn passed unexpectedly due to complications from pneumonia he was a young man and left a big hole in alot of peoples hearts when he passed.
I can't believe you guys are still arguing over this video, the Jeep in the video is MY JEEP when it was bone stock vs. Shawn AKA Saladbar off the TBSSOWNERS site. He had cam, heads, headers, Stall, Tune, Intake, and no interior with drag radials at the time. PLEASE OUT OF RESPECT FOR SHAWN WHO PASSED AWAY NOT TOO LONG AFTER THIS VIDEO AND WAS A FRIEND OF MINE quit the arguing, Shawn was not about this we got along great and I still do with other TBSS owners. I run 12.23 now on tune only.
Yeah TBSS was definitely modded, which is cool. Mods show creativity and dedication to ones vehicle but stock for stock the TBSS just can't hang with the SRT8 GC. I owned a SS for a 4 months before the engine blew due to a failed oil pump. So I traded it up for a SRT8 right after this occured. For quality and performance you can't go wrong with SRT8. Oh and I do regret getting the SS first but it was still fun as hell to drive.
as much as people say these super-utes are pointless, you can tow with both, haul the family, and haul ass. and they say mileage is horseshit, well i get 17-18 on the hwy with the jeep and ive heard the tbss gets better. thats better than most pickups these two trucks are awesome.
i sold my jeep.. but when i had it,, ive always tried to race with an ss when i spotted one.. no driver ever raced their ss with me for some reason.. like never.. i never got to race an ss in my life.. the ss does put some competition in this fastest truck game... but the srt jeep just changes everything to a whole nother level

I am the Jeep owner that was my first time ever to run the jeep at the track the owner of the TBSS is Shawn Salazar "Saladbar". Shawn recently passed away and we became really good friends that night. Shawn will be dearly missed. His mods during the race were:
Custom Cam 224/230 112+4, Kooks LTs, 3600 Vig. TC, ADM MAF, fender mount CAI, Built Transmission, TSP Stg 2.5 243's), stripped interior. My jeep was bone stock I now run 12.4's with just a tune and intake. Now everyone knows.

@whtcanbrwnd04u Your ignorance doesn't change facts. Stock, the SRT is a MUCH quicker vehicle. A stock TBSS typically runs 14 -15's. Stock SRT's run high 12s to low 13's.

I own a 2006 TBSS AWD and I know the 2006 Jeep SRT-8 is faster off the line and top speed if both are stock. As to this video,we don't know what mods were done to either vehicle.Looks like the SS had a good run.I enjoy my SS a lot, but the mileage is horrible. 11.4 mpg. Fuel is expensive here in Canada. Over $5/gal.
I own a TBSS. Jeep SRT-8 is definitely faster. Overall the Jeep has more features and costs less, but I still preferred the TBSS despite the price tag. In fact, I've owned a 2007 and I presently own a 2008.

@wildman0527 the ss doesnt come with a supercharger they are nothing special people add those after they buy them. the srt8 is stock with 425 horspower i've been to plenty of drags and the srt8 jeeps are hard to beat with anything thats stock last year watched one waste a vet not a brand new one but it was still a zo6

Srt8 would fckn smoke a stock ss. That trailblazer for sure had a twin turbo if it ran a 12.8 cause my gto runs about 13.9 with the exact same motor as the ss but half the weight

Thanks, Shawn is dearly miss that video was the day our friendship started and what an awesome man he was. After that pass we sat out in the parking lot and talked for hours and from then on would text or poke fun on the forums. Shawn passed unexpectedly due to complications from pneumonia he was a young man and left a big hole in alot of peoples hearts when he passed.

I can't believe you guys are still arguing over this video, the Jeep in the video is MY JEEP when it was bone stock vs. Shawn AKA Saladbar off the TBSSOWNERS site. He had cam, heads, headers, Stall, Tune, Intake, and no interior with drag radials at the time. PLEASE OUT OF RESPECT FOR SHAWN WHO PASSED AWAY NOT TOO LONG AFTER THIS VIDEO AND WAS A FRIEND OF MINE quit the arguing, Shawn was not about this we got along great and I still do with other TBSS owners. I run 12.23 now on tune only.

Yeah TBSS was definitely modded, which is cool. Mods show creativity and dedication to ones vehicle but stock for stock the TBSS just can't hang with the SRT8 GC. I owned a SS for a 4 months before the engine blew due to a failed oil pump. So I traded it up for a SRT8 right after this occured. For quality and performance you can't go wrong with SRT8. Oh and I do regret getting the SS first but it was still fun as hell to drive.

as much as people say these super-utes are pointless, you can tow with both, haul the family, and haul ass. and they say mileage is horseshit, well i get 17-18 on the hwy with the jeep and ive heard the tbss gets better. thats better than most pickups these two trucks are awesome.

i sold my jeep.. but when i had it,, ive always tried to race with an ss when i spotted one.. no driver ever raced their ss with me for some reason.. like never.. i never got to race an ss in my life.. the ss does put some competition in this fastest truck game... but the srt jeep just changes everything to a whole nother level

the typhoon was a souped up jimmy not a blazer. but they were cool as hell for their times. i saw one in alabama on a car lot. it sat in the back with maybe 5feet of grass around it. dude wouldnt sell. the truck sat i know about 3years same spot.

I am the Jeep owner that was my first time ever to run the jeep at the track the owner of the TBSS is Shawn Salazar "Saladbar". Shawn recently passed away and we became really good friends that night. Shawn will be dearly missed. His mods during the race were:
Custom Cam 224/230 112+4, Kooks LTs, 3600 Vig. TC, ADM MAF, fender mount CAI, Built Transmission, TSP Stg 2.5 243's), stripped interior. My jeep was bone stock I now run 12.4's with just a tune and intake. Now everyone knows.

Well maybe not. Stock for Stock they are both comparable. SRT8 has 420HP, AWD, Curb WT: 4700 lbs. TBSS has 390 HP, Optional AWD, Curb WT: 4400 lbs.

I own a 2006 TBSS AWD and I know the 2006 Jeep SRT-8 is faster off the line and top speed if both are stock. As to this video,we don't know what mods were done to either vehicle.Looks like the SS had a good run.I enjoy my SS a lot, but the mileage is horrible. 11.4 mpg. Fuel is expensive here in Canada. Over $5/gal.

I own a TBSS. Jeep SRT-8 is definitely faster. Overall the Jeep has more features and costs less, but I still preferred the TBSS despite the price tag. In fact, I've owned a 2007 and I presently own a 2008.
