I encourage all watching to call their local Congressman and ask them to sponsor The Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act of 2009 (H.R.1194) The complete total cost of fire is estimated at $317 billion, or roughly 2.8% of
U.S. gross domestic product and 117 priceless firefighters lives (2007 data) Read the details of the bill (Google it)
I do this kind of testing for a living. There is no way that a cigarette would ignite a piece of furniture that quick. The cigarette normally burns for around 20 minutes if left unattended. The combustion of the chair in this video would have occured after at least 45 - mins.
The video was shown was a copy of an NFPA video that was shot in the late '80s early '90's. I used the NFPA video for training in '96. The original audio stated that a small heated coil was used to simulate a cigarett in the chair. But you can't deny the flashover. Impressive.
That is really a great video. I am a grade school student, and that can really teach me to not play with fire. I will be sure to tell my friends to watch this video with their parents and sibilings. That is a great video.
Even a dragon won fool around with fire.
